I actually had no idea that the Bowie/Jagger song was a cover and that Van Halen had covered it as well. I also don't think I've ever actually heard the full version of the Jagger/Bowie version, but the "without music" video is so deeply ingrained into my brain at this point I don't even need it

Chain Lightnin' - .38 Special decent slot for this song. .38 Special is up there as my favorite Southern Rock band. This particular song could also slot nicely on a Country western chart. FYI Warrant had a song that sounded like this on The 'Cherry Pie" album.

72. You Don't Want Me Anymore - Steel Breeze this song is so awesome. It's the ultimate make up song. You have to picture it like this: You just broke up with your girl(your fault not her's) but you both still attend the High school dance. The dee jay throws on this jam. The synths start to breath air onto the crowd. You search around and see your girl. She catches your eye and you approach and ask her to dance. reluctantly she agrees just as the first verse chimes in. you lead her to the dance floor and explain what dick you were as the chorus rolls in. She's listening so you move to step two. dazzle her with your impish dumb dance moves. The guitar solo! Now is your chance. Was that a smile? Yes. That final break of the song is just about to roll in. you say let's blow this joint as you leave the hall doors. The last chorus causes everyone to follow you to your car. A muscle car of course. You drive off with a convoy of the whole class behind you. The songs fade out plays as yoo all drive into the night. All because of this perfect make up song..

Now let's go back and see what kinda haertbreak PULSE can cause me tonight? 85. Worse Than Detroit - Robert PlantI recall two songs from this album getting strong airplay. This one ,and "Burning Down One Side". This one had some cool Led Zeppelin vibes. I love the breakdown with the harmonicas. ironically enough I slotted that other song I here, and this one a little higher. 84. Don't Let Him Know - Prism Note to myself; What not to give PUILSE rockers for X-mas. A mix CD of 80's AOR. This was good old 100% uncut AOR done the right way. Kinda sounds like a heavier version of Ambrosia. It's those loud up lifting chorus that make me soar these songs right into my top half. 83. I'll Fall in Love Again - Sammy Hagar I said I like songs from my #87 up, but by the time we reach songs in my top half we are way onto songs that made my top 10. One of the best Sammy Hagar jams that year. Sammy used to sound like that synth driven Rick Springfield Poprock or vice a versa. He did write "I've Done Everything..." for Rick. I still would have been highest ranker for "There's Only One Way To Rock". 82. Out of Work - Gary U.S. Bonds'LOL this song here. I never heard this on rock format ,and I didn't like it on pop either. It's that kind of song I would really dig a whole lot more if sung by Billy Joel, but really this before a handful of healthy guitar strumming rock jams is alarming. Ironically I think Gary was singing about his future after this song. maybe? 81. Magic Power - TriumphRight one out first. Good song. I have this album on vinyl and all that, at times if feels like a Journey filler track. Fight The Good Fight" is well known among the 80's rock crowd, but I don't feel so too confident with you guys. 80. Jealous Lover - RainbowThis wasn't on ' Straight Between the Eyes', but rather an e.p. of the same name. A pretty good Blues rock jam. I didn't chart this one, but found it appealing enough for my British hard rock parasite. It's Joe-Lynn's vocals that make me like this song a lot more. 79. Enough Is Enough - April Wine Another awesome jam. gets a hold of you from the guitar hook intro. It returns in the end for one last time and drives it home. This one flows perfect with the lyrics. I don't think I ever loved an April Wine song as much as this one. You all just love to tank Canadians. What's up with that. 79. Love Is Like a Rock - Donnie IrisSame story. I only charted Donnie two times, and now I know why? This was all kinds of awful. The hard rock guitars actually make it sound cheesy, and I don't say that often. Might have sounded better if he had given it to Bruce Springsteen. The hair metal gang vocals were also out of place. A total train wreck. I would have given it to Quiet Riot or Slade, and hoped for the best. 78. Pledge Pin - Robert PlantThis one had it's vocal moments , but not much more. Being a first time listen I would say it was decent if not just a tad boring, but salvageable. 77. You're Gonna Get Your Fingers Burned - The Alan Parsons ProjectGlad we are not upgrading prog rock band just for the sake of them being prog rock. Alan Parsons could not pull off this kind of style. Who comes to mind? The Little River Band? No thanks. 76. Workin for a Livin' - Huey Lewis & the NewsA bottom 10 for this? WT actual FUCK to infinty? This is what the band would sound like if you set them on fire. Fast train rolling down the track. Huey Lewis on the harmonica is like Gene Simmons spewing fire. I also gave top 10 action to the blue eyed soul wonderjam "Hope You Love Me Like You Say You Do". ...and charted new Huey Lewis 3 times last year. 75. Dancing in the Street - Van Halen Really? The Jagger/Bowie version was abomination this had David Lee Roth on vocals. Huge difference. Luke Spiller does a great version of it too. Not too bad tonight. Steel Breeze being my biggest loss. "dreamin Is Easy" was there only other charting hit. I doubt anyone here but me charted it.

gonecountry beating me on closeness to year end list. How is that even possible? EXTRAS:Crank It Up - The DregsTrippy song. Proggy, but not to an annoying level. Has a little of The Babys in that groove. Not bad just not too familiar with it. She Looks a Lot Like You - The Clocks KLOS and KIQQ played this one, but it didn't make either YE end list. A sure top 40 on my list. One of my forgotten favorites of the 80's. Back then I used to think this was The Cars. It sounded like something that could have easily been on "Shake It Up". The synths felt like a second vocals. FYI I charted this song three times before I finally went into my top 10 mid '83. Just a great feel of a song with enough guitar cranking to keep me at the edge of my seat. This is one of those sought after 80's albums that still hasn't come home to me. I would loved to hear more of their songs. I'm Leaving - TaxxiDon't know what to make of this song. A pretty good mystic sounding rocker, but not really upbeat enough to entice me. Counting the Beat - SwingersSounds 'like a first time listen. FoxBoro Hot Tubs came to mind. Not too terrible. Not familiar with it, but i feel I would have ended up liking it quite a bi for Modern Rock format. It bops. Ya Ya (Next To Me) - Steve ForbertI see no reason to ever have to rank "Romeo's Tune" of Rock format. This song here felt like Gary U.S. Bonds part 2. Not the sauce I would put on my corn dog, because this was corny as hell. There is actually a music video for this that doesn't help things a bit. Alley Cat Blues - StarfightersYou know if it sounds like AC/DC I'll bite. Interesting vocal works, but it's those guitar strums that got me bopping. Love that the vocal cherry topping growl at the end. Don't Let Me In - SneakerMore of that The Little River Band style. Time to buy a new pair of sneakers. This was all kinds of rank.

The only thing that's pissed me off so far is Donnie Iris getting tanked.
"Out Of Work" is fine, but I didn't dislike any of the songs in this rankdown, so some songs had to go at the bottom.
Honestly, I like the Sammy Hagar era of Van Halen better, because they became a prog-rock band, as opposed to being a glorified cover band during the David Lee Roth era.

Guess I'll reveal the next batch in KLOS playback of 1982. Does your favorite fall tonight?
THE KLOS TOP 95 Playback for 1982
#85. So L.A. - The Motels and yet another good Motels song we didn't get to rank. This one has Missing Persons vibes.
#84. Talk Talk - Talk Talk #83. You Don't Want Me Anymore - Steel Breeze We still did it better than this station.
#82. We Ride The Night - The Sherbs This would have done well on our own RD #81. Don't Give Up - Glenn Frey Much better than that lame "Party Town" pooper. I don't need the The female backups tho. #80. A Million Miles Away - The Plimsouls This would have slayed on our Rock rds.
#79. Testify - Greg Kihn Band #78. Shaken' - Eddie Money Epic fail with this song this low. 8D
#77. Everybody Wants You - Billy Squier Wrong one out first. #76. Steppin' Out - Joe Jackson A proper slot for this song.
#75. Complicated Now - Johnny and The Destractions Not sad about not ranking this. #74. Crazy Keep On falling - John Hall Band #73. Burning Down One Side - Robert Plant eh....The right one made the list. #72. Enough Is Enough - April Wine #71. Somebody's Baby - Jackson Browne A nice pop cruise over, but still a pop song.
