1.
Moonlight ("Intro" is a lovely introduction to her sophomore effort, featuring Ariana's ever-present gift for heavenly harmonies. However, "Moonlight" and its romantic doo-wop vibes are just gorgeous, and the song is one of the underrated gems from her catalogue.)
2.
Dangerous Woman (one of the boldest lead single choices of the past decade - what a sensual song featuring killer guitar-driven production! Everything about it is amazing, and it gave us so many incredible live performances. I do enjoy "Problem", don't get me wrong, but it pales in comparison)
3.
Be Alright (I understand the strong emotional connection associated with "One Last Time", and once again, it's another song I adore. However, "Be Alright" has always been one of my top favorites from Ariana, and I cherish its simple yet uplifiting tone, backed up by an infectious house-inspired groove. Highlight to the iconic choreography as well!)
4.
Into You (I used to love "Why Try" back in the day, but the song hasn't aged so well now that we're past the YA dystopian movie soundtrack era. So it was an easy choice, as "Into You" is one of the most masterfully produced pop hits of the last decade, and an euphoric and intense ride with every listen)
5.
Break Free (both are iconic, but I slightly prefer "Break Free" more for how nostalgic it is)
6.
Best Mistake (My choice was ultimately determined by the rappers' contribution. "Let Me Love You" is incredibly sensual in its delivery, and it gave us Ariana's best beauty shot based music video. However, not only is "Best Mistake" more sharply written, but Big Sean and Ariana have much better chemistry together)
7.
Greedy (both the biggest missed single opportunities from their respective albums, and I love both. However, Ariana Grande and Cashmere Cat made more magic later on, while Ariana has yet to replicate the fiery throwback vibes of "Greedy")
8.
Leave Me Lonely (Ariana really needs to delve into this soulful sound more often. This song is so haunting in its powerful delivery and production, and Macy was a brilliant choice for a feature. Once again, "Break Your Heart Right Back" is such a fun and catchy tune, but I've always gravitated more towards "Leave Me Lonely")
9.
Love Me Harder (while "Everyday" has grown on me since 2016, it's still pretty generic, despite a great music video. "Love Me Harder" is just all-around perfect, though, so there was no competition here)
10.
Just a Little Bit of Your Heart ("Sometimes" is a charming track, but I've decided to vote for Ariana's most underrated ballad - and to think it used to be overhyped because Harry Styles wrote it, and now it's sadly forgotten among her fans)
11.
I Don't Care (and now the underappreciated gem of "Dangerous Woman" - such a beautiful sounding track enhanced by Ariana's soothing and relaxed delivery. "Hands On Me" had no chance)
12.
My Everything ("Bad Decisions" hasn't aged well in my opinion, while the title track for her sophomore still sounds as passionate and earnest as the first time I heard it. A fantastic closer.)
13.
Touch It (I never liked "Bang Bang", so faced against one of Ariana's finest and most intense songs, it really had no chance)
14.
Knew Better/Forever Boy (I enjoy both, but I really appreciate the ambition of this track, and both parts flow really smoothly to represent the transition from the end of a relationship to the blossoming of a new one. Shout-out to the fantastic "Knew Better Pt.2", which should be made available to streaming someday)
15.
You Don't Know Me ("Thinking Bout You" might be objectively better, and I do enjoy it, but I've always resonated with this one more.)
16.
Cadillac Song (one of the most hidden gems of Ariana Grande's discography, and an immaculate slice of vintage R&B. Love "Step On Up" too.)
17.
Jason's Song (Gave It Away)(A perfect broadway/jazzy song that shows how Ariana utterly excels in the genre. Great lyrics, and a killer piano solo courtesy of the eponymous Jason. A career highlight. "Too Close" is cute every now and then, but Mariah Carey's "I've Been Thinking About You" did the premise better)
7 for "My Everything" vs.
10 for "Dangerous Woman"
"My Everything" is a fun and nostalgic album, but "Dangerous Woman" is just stronger overall, and has much more highs.
Thanks for the poll - I had a fun time doing this!
