RS comment My comment Me when I read the above discussion regarding this song despite I literally heard this the first time in Country Music documentary: The Tex-Mex/mariachi sounds in this are quite cool, and I like the ascending harmonies in this. This song has won the #10 by 3 points. It's a consistent top 10 contender.

Ring Of Fire was one of my favorite songs to queue up in the soundtrack while playing Tony Hawk's Underground 2

“Folsom Prison Blues” slays! I’m kind of disappointed to see it out this early into the top 10. Also, for those who have never seen George Strait live he does one hell of a cover of this song.

Have you never seen the movie Walk the Line recordyear ?!? Never lol. I am not that old (I was 8 years old when that movie came out), and I don't remember any major hype surrounding this movie in Hong Kong.

It’s a movie that I can watch over and over again and still enjoy just as much as when I saw it for the first time. Also, it’s a fantastic soundtrack and I recently learned that Reese Witherspoon was somewhat tricked into actually singing for with her own vocals.

RS comment My comment This is such an iconic song with that iconic line. I wonder whether I should have used the original version of this song in the playlist, but I prefer the liveliness of the live version anyway. This has never left the top 10 throughout submission and spent time in top 5 for a while because the tanks came. Condolences to singingrulebritannia for losing the #1.

That means The Gambler is the highest male song here, but how high it will be?

I much prefer the live version and never actually listen to the studio one. This is one of those songs that is most remembered for the live recording anyways.

HA! Of course "The Gambler" would leave next. No way should "Follow Your Arrow" or even "Goodbye Earl" be ahead of this though.

Perfect start to the top 10! Now if we can just get Patsy and Kacey out of there before top 5.

My comment I feel the metaphor of gambling to life set an often used metaphor using gambling in country music lyrics, even though most of them is about love. If I had to nitpick though, I never loved Kenny Rogers' vocals in this. Lucille remains his best song but I understand it is not as iconic as this one. This is a consistent top 10 contender in the latter half of submission. Surprised it is the highest male song here. It is 27 points behind #7, icymi.

Oh my, I never expected that myself, .indulgecountry , and bboat11 would be the lowest rankers for "Follow Your Arrow"

“Follow Your Arrow” is a great song. I understand how it feels high amongst so many songs that feel/are more iconic but with a crowd that for the most part - leans towards modern country - it makes sense why this lands at #7.

Woah, that's it! :'( Follow Your Arrow is a masterpiece. I don't think I can name 50+ songs that I enjoy more than this song, even if I compare this song with all the songs I know.

That said, I've always appreciated the message behind this and this is a song that when she sings live always gets resounding applause.

I'm going to have to guess that "Goodbye Earl" misses the top 5 as I can't envision anything else remaining leaving before that.

RS comment My comment Technically Merry Go Round has the best lyricism in that album, but the message of this song is more important. Aside from the explicit support of LGBT community (that she bullied when she was young but then changed her mind towards the community), the homonym of horrible/whore-ibble in the first verse is also quite smart given the context. It may be a list song at heart, but it set the standard. It is also a consistent top 10 contender. Condolences to zaclord 🌈 and 🌺CountryLineDancer for losing their #1.

I didn’t comment during the night of it’s reveal but I am surprised “Before He Cheats” was #25. I thought it had an outside chance of being #1!

I LOVE Kacey Musgraves, but "Follow Your Arrow" is her most overrated song. Her debut hit would've been a lot better inclusion on this list imo. The 'controversial' gay line has always come off as a bit hokey for me in FYA, which is why it always amused me that it got propped up as this big country LGBT anthem. It's a good song, just not... best country song of all time kinda good, and other songs of her's like "Merry Go Round" and "Dime Store Cowgirl" shit all over it.
