This was released in October of 2018 as the lead single from Mariah's most recent studio album Caution.
Mariah wrote this with DJ Mustard, who also helped with the production.
The black and white video shot in Los Angeles, was directed by Sarah McColgan, who also directed the "GTFO" and "A No No" videos, depicts Mariah in all her gorgeous, rich, elegant glory.
This single, besides being critically acclaimed, was a big commercial success. It was a huge, HUGE smash on Karen radio, reaching #7 and enjoyed great longevity there. In fact it was her first non-holiday ("Oh Santa!" reached #1 in 2010), original ("I Want To Know What Love Is" reached #10 in 2009) top 10 hit at the US Adult Contemporary Billboard chart since 2005's "We Belong Together".
Live Performances
In the second video, Mariah's vocal surpassed the studio version. That mini tour in Asia showcased some of Mariah's most powerful, consistent vocals since 2003.

This is sweet and sugary in all the right ways. I don't listen to it as much as I did during the album cycle, but I still adore it. She's flawless in the video, and I really enjoyed all the live performances of this, it translates really well live.
This just dawned on me, but this would have lent itself really well to a re-sung hip-hop remix. Even with minimal changes al la the Young Jeezy "#Beautiful" remix (which still goes off).

I never listen to this anymore. One of my least favorites on Caution. The melody is pretty enough, but the lyrics are... she can do better.

I've always preferred this over "GTFO". It was a nice, decent song to listen to.

I remember how let down I was when I first heard this. I still consider it her second worst lead single behind โLoverboy.โ The production is blah (it sounds like one of those fucking lame Memoirs songs that were ruined by deafening finger snaps), some of the lyrics are just wack and it doesnโt even have a belted climax, as predictable as that might have been. And of course it was a single! ๐ With all of that said, the song has grown on me and itโs not the instant skip that it was for me. The โoh shots of Remy...โ melodic line is really pretty.

It's okay. It's in the bottom half of Caution, one of my least favs on that album. There were much stronger single choices.

Ugh, I remember when they chose to release this, I was so upset at her, Roc, Roe, MaryAnn, da Brat, her nutritionist, her hot yoga instructor. Those "with you's" felt so juvenile and such a step backward from GTFO, she had done gone and messed up the entire era rollout - that's how strongly I felt about it.
Then she came out looking ABSOSULTELY STUNNOSHA in that video and it totally redeemed the song for me (a little bit). I can now listen to it and enjoy the melodies and the second half. It's one of those ballads she can pull out of her bag every era, so, at least it's consistent.

This is pleasant but should have been 2nd or 3rd behind a stronger single like "A No No" "One Mo Gen" "The Distance" or even the title track.

Far and away the worst track on the album. It would be improved by removing it.

So there's a thread for this but not the iconic sampling of herself on the Japanese Bonus Track?

This is one of my least favorites on the album - only "One Mo' Gen" and "Stay Long Love You" rank lower. It's a fine song and has some pleasant moments (I particularily like 2:56-3:38), but it sounds like it could've been released between 2005-2008. Mariah does look beautiful in the video though, and the song seemed to do its thing on its core chart.
