I think in this case the remix _feels_ more organic, because The Weeknd and Ariana have collaborated before, several times in fact. It's not like that Jawsh whatever number/BTS/Derulo situation or Doja/Nicki.

There’s literally nothing organic about waiting til a song reaches its potential radio peak to release a lazy remix just to boost its chart performance. “More organic” would’ve been a brand new song.

It’s literally exactly like that. It’s a copy/paste remix of an existing smash where the featured artist will get one week of chart credit and the original artist will get a chart boost to #1.

“Organic” would have been a duet from the get-go, or at the very least a remix that came out as the official single version when the single and video first dropped.

Labels used to release physical singles (CDs) to boost a song's chances to hit #1 when they were at their airplay peak so i see nothing wrong with releasing remixes to get that #1 spot.

And yes, supporting Doja Cat doesn't mean we support Dr. Luke as well. Unfortunately, Doja is apparently stuck on a contract, and I wouldn't be surprised if Puke added a writing credit on "Kiss Me More" (a song he had no hand in producing) just so he could achieve monetary gain from its success. Just a theory, of course.

I am disappointed Saweetie has been willingly working with him, though, and as much as I enjoy "Best Friend", I do feel rather guilty about its success, though we should focus on who behind the mike, and she deserves mainstream success.

Dr Luke didn't produce kiss me more but he's on the writing credits of the song

I have no problem with people remixing songs and them going #1 especially if they are already big hits like 'Save Your Tears' is. My problem with "inorganic" #1's are the mass buying that could send them to #1. So basically any BTS #1 really.


Save Your Tears going #1 to me is fine. Radio, sales and streams are all there. The remix was just used as a booster it's not that big of a deal.

The remix is #5, so I am not sure what you are talking about. I also didn't say its numbers are "terrible." Perhaps you need a reading comprehension class?

not sure about that tbh. LTDO (while weak) is still pretty much stable, mostly thanks to the discount and radio. and like Enigma said, Billie might release her lead single or something on Friday.

I noted the remix is #5 on Spotify. You replied "the song" is the most streamed behind "Rockstar." That is true combining the original and remix, so what was your intent? My post was specifically about the remix.

According to a media press release Butter is going to be in English. This is going to definitely go #1. Also, since BTS's company takes control of Scooter Braun's company with employees intact on May 7th this song will get full promotion to the same level Ariana and Bieber gets.
