Yeah, I love this song! But does this mean they are giving up on Settling Down? I hope not, as it definitely deserves to hit #1. Also, I hope she doesn't completely move on from Wildcard, as there are many more songs that I would like to be released as singles, like Tequila Does and Dark Bars.

Oh HELL yes!!! Miranda is 100% at a spot at radio where she can easily get away with this and "Settling Down" being on the charts at the same time without sacrificing one for the other. I do still hope SD can hit the top before this one really starts taking off so that she can hopefully get three consecutive #1s. I don't think she's ever had such luck at country radio. This is also proving to do quite well over on the pop formats, last I checked, so I'd say it has a very decent chance to be massive over here at her home base.

Love this one but I hope them jumping the gun doesn’t effect SD hitting #1 because right now the odds were in the favor of it doing so.

it seems like SD would peak at #1 around the 2nd week of July if they pushed it through... which seems fine with this add date?

Yeah, and I'm sure the labels must've realized that and used that to go ahead and bring "Drunk" onto the country airwaves. This timing is another example too of Miranda's great standing this era with country radio. Those of y'all worried suddenly about SD's chances have to remember that this is 2021, where a song will take forever to peak unless it's by Thomas Rhett or either Luke. It'll likely be close to the end of this year before "Drunk" peaks; SD will be absolutely fine.

So 60 plays at my local station and 1 each at the other 2.

I highly doubt this impacts her current single at all fwiw (since several have brought that up), especially seeing how well its connecting and its clear that radio loves "Settling Down." It wouldn't be the first time a major country star had more than 1 single with their credit on the charts at once, and Miranda's a big star and doing well enough right now that I don't see it impacting her negatively at all.
This is 100% the right decision though, so I am thrilled to see they're not gonna squander this smash because it's been showing ALL the signs of being massive since the jump. Glad that it's gonna get its chance to shine. Miranda is really on such a career high right now, which is great to see. I am excited to see how this one climbs because I can see it blowing up pretty quickly.

Yep it's K102. I don't like that they shelved Settling Down for this but i really like it anyways.

I’m thrilled! This is easily one of my favorite songs of the year, and I see gigantic hit potential on Country and Pop formats (if RCA decides on crossing over as well).

I did look at how "Beer Can't Fix" did when "Be A Light" was charting and it did slow the song down a bit overall not anything too horrible but there was a noticeable slow down for the former. So I do think "Settling Down" could get slowed down a bit, especially as I get the sense country radio is so ready to play this song evident by the three adds before add week already and the high buzz with this song.

Miranda Lambert has yet to post TWO consecutive chart toppers in her career. Sad, but true.

I feel like I’m alone in this but not sure why, but I’m all for the way Miranda is doing stuff lately. She’s just tossing all kinds of stuff out there and I love it. I feel like it’s working well for her. Makes me also think it’s time to stop worrying about chart peaks on radio. Bring on “Drunk” and “Tequila Does”. What a time to open up a bar!

She did an Apple Music interview with Zane when Wildcard came out and I swear he’s part of the reason she was motivated to do Marfa and not care about business for a moment. He kept saying “are you gonna go have your Nebraska moment and just release whatever you want” and she said “I feel like that’s in my future.” Also, with Drunk buying her time at radio it’s seems as though Annies will be next up.

Oh you are 100% correct! Ashley Monroe hinted at it on Twitter a few weeks ago. She retweeted someone who said “Last time Ashley dropped an album in April, we also got an Annie’s album in November”.

I'm all for Miranda claiming her throne as radio queen, a title she never really held.
Let this zoom to the top. I would love to watch this scale the charts quickly! Maybe, even, quickly enough to throw out "Tequila Does" after.

I absolutely love this, and am thrilled that it's going to country radio. But, like others have said, I hope it doesn't hurt "Settling Down"'s chances of going to #1. I think that .indulgecountry is right that it won't, but my faith in country radio isn't exactly high.
