I wish they’d sent it to country when they sent it to the other two formats since Settling Down got boned anyways.

I wish they’d sent it to country when they sent it to the other two formats since Settling Down got boned anyways. Some stations were playing it as far back as 2-26-21 when it was digitally released. K102 has had it in heavy rotation since that day, including hourly that day. And they dropped Settling Down that day as well. Absolutely pathetic as this killed the momentum of a great song.

With how its been performing, it seems like a Billboard #1 is in the cards. I sure hope that it holds on.

Unless radio completely drops the ball on this one for tomorrow's update, I still think this one should be able to go #1 on Billboard. My rationale is: - "Drunk" has outgained "Beers On Me" on MB so far in terms of audience (1.443m vs. 1.244m) and the former was ahead of the latter by close to 800k on last week's Billboard chart.
- "'Til You Can't" lost 1.732m in audience this week on MB and it was only ahead of "Drunk" by 450k on Billboard last week, so I think "Drunk" should've been able to close that gap.
- "23" lost 5.456m in audience this week on MB and it was ahead of "Drunk" by a little over 3 million on Billboard. I think with the gains "Drunk" posted and the loss for "23" combined should be enough to give "Drunk" the edge? This might be the one that I'm less confident about.
Now the MB vs. BB conversion and the adjustments on the published update on MB could affect this but at this point I believe that "Drunk" can go #1 this week. Crossing my fingers that it can happen! A female/female collab hitting #1 with another one coming ("Never Wanted To Be That Girl") would be amazing.

Very well deserved although I'm very surprised they were able to get the #1 on Billboard Country Airplay.

Still bitter that "Because Of You" by Reba and Kelly Clarkson came up short on both charts.

Of course this historic female collab will lose the BB #1 to a male song that it s**ts all over. Of course. This is just how it is these days. I’ve given up. 💔💔💔 Never been happier to be wrong, or more glad to admit it. What a historic moment, and a big win for women in country music, especially with Carly & Ashley hot on Elle/Miranda's heels with their own all-female duet. The 2020s have definitely seen a tidal shift. It's subtle and still a shallow wave, but the tides have still turned.

How far we’ve come. And to think only 4 years ago in 2018 there was a time with zero females in the top 20.

YAYAYYYYY!!!! So happy this made it in the end. It would’ve been pretty unfortunate for this to get stuck in the teens and then just below #1 in BB. I’ve loved the song (and video) since the first time. This is kind of a special song to me, as I have been rooting for it since last year. And one of the reasons why I’ve been following religiously CMT’s 12-pack and Hot 20 countdowns since I moved to a new house and changed cable providers last year. I’d love to learn more about the wave you guys are talking about. I’ve occasionally checked the country charts, and for some time I was kinda tired of finding what I guess was bro country stuff that I didn’t like at all. But in CMT I’ve heard pretty good stuff, even some that haven’t chatted that well, like Till there’s nothing left or Come in but don’t make yourself comfortable. I’m really enjoying most of the songs of these shows (some exceptions like the two Hardy’s stuff, Show me your fish or Doin’ this).

I think everyone will agree with me when I say the following: Next up for country radio is to send Pearce/McBryde to the top. It will be the latter's first chart topper.

Just wanted to say that I'm loving seeing this song not completely fall off a cliff after hitting #1 like most female radio hits do. It's actually falling fairly slowly rather than just hemorrhaging, kinda solidifying that radio really loved this one.
Will also be interesting to see what Elle King's next move is. Miranda's name recognition definitely helped this one take off so I don't expect Elle to suddenly be a country radio darling or anything, but I definitely hope the plan for her is to release another single to the format and I can't wait to see what shape her next album takes once that materializes. "Out Yonder" is a jam and a half, and I think it could work alright at radio, unless they have something even stronger waiting in the wings.

I think she has a song with Dierks that will be on her album but don’t know if she would do another duet (and with him again) before trying to stand on her own. But from the clip I heard from her Ryman show it sounded good!

Way to turn a fun song into a complete snooze fest lol. They could have done so much more with the theme and made it an epic moment.

I assumed they were performing because they won, but they didn’t…. So I’m just really confused bc the song is over a year old and Elle and Miranda both had a weekend run of shows they had to rush to Vegas right after. Seems like it coulda been a skip 😂

I thought the performance was fine and I loved their costuming, but Elle King was very much blasted, lmao.

LMAO Elle’s drunken dance moves caused me to laugh out loud for real.
Miranda looks like a concerned older sister at her drunken sisters bachelorette party half the time they are singing.

80(+2) Elle King & Miranda Lambert - Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go..) 13.91 (+0.31) 2 (+1)
So why did this pick up another format today?

Locking this thread because it's far past its peak on country radio and it's not seeing any sort of significant resurgence by any means. The reason why it picked up a format is probably because its spin count is so close to the top 50 recurrent threshold on HAC (it's the 50th highest recurrent song on HAC today) that it probably bounces in and out of the top 50. Because AllAccess only shows us the top 50, it would show up as "pick up a format" (I'm assuming you're looking at kworb or some other source that does similiar things) when only in reality it might have only gained a few spins to land it back into the top 50 so that it registers in kworb/whatever source you're using's system.
I appreciate your enthusiasm to keep tabs on this song long past its peak (considering it was a historical moment for country radio as well!) but for the sake of keeping the forum more accessible with more present stuff that posters might generally want to discuss (which bumping old threads gets in the way of), I'm going to lock it unless it comes back RUTH-style who knows what could happen in this day and age.
