Here's our exit interview with Born to Jugg (born & CagedJuggalo The Third Tanker)How do you feel about your time in the race?
Born: This game was funnnn! I didn't really get to play last season and I definitely enjoyed it this time around. At first, escaping the top 3 was surprising but after a few successful rounds, I thought that it'd be cool if we got to the top 5!
Jugg: I liked it I guess. I'm still salty though. Thankfully I had a great partner in Born to keep me grounded when my song suggestions went off the rails
Do you think you could've/should've done anything different?
Born: I wouldn't say that. It's a shame that one score from each challenge ultimately killed us instead of the Hyperdrive (if you know what I mean). But no regrets.
Jugg: Not gone for the Hyperdrive
Any predictions?
Born: Not really but I've heard that The Invisible Hand is great at sucking up to the judges so yield away! Oh, and willmona are getting their first win next round. :kii:
Jugg: Someone is gonna get a 0....I mean everyone is gonna have a great time. Yeah that's it

Getting their third win of the race is...
1. Anne-Marie's Ninjas (MoD & maine )Judge's Thoughts: 107.05 | Detour Rank: #1 | Roadblock Rank: #2 | Intersection Rank: #2 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0.6Detour Results:
(Highly Skilled)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: The writing in this song has always struck me as very heartfelt. Even if it isn't as polished as Elton's later work, the off the top of ones head feel of the lyrics gives the song its charm (9.3)District: my favourite Elton song here and in the detour as well. this is actually the one I'm most familiar with from him, I just love the simple yet powerful writing here. (9.1)Gates: Out of these 3 Elton songs, this is the only one where I have a problem with how grand the arrangement is--the tune might have dodged the slightly cheesy feeling if it was pared down to just piano, bass, drums, and lead vocals. The fact that I say this, though, necessarily means the melody itself is quite sturdy. The lyrics are a clever skewering of the traditional love song with miles of fun quotes that roll off the tongue smoothly (7.1)Jugg: As close to Elton perfection you are going to get without straight up sending Tiny Dancer. You are a winner and don't let anyone say otherwise (10)Overall Score: 35.5
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by James)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: A quintessential 90s rock track. I'm somewhat surprised to see it hasn't been sent until now (9)District: loving the sound of this. I don't know much of their discography but this has me intrigued! (9)Jamesflame: (9.2)Born: Gosh I love this song. I placed it last in the queue to end the Roadblock on a high note. “Everlong” is consistently great, with great production in the verses/pre’s followed by an amazing hook. Nothing more to say. (10)Overall Score: 37.2
Intersection Results:
(Sent with Team Don't lecture me, Obi-Wan. I see through the lies of the Jedi. I do not fear the dark side as you do. I have brought peace... freedom, justice and security to my new empire. Your new empire? Don't make me kill you. Anakin, my allegiance is to the Republic, to democracy! If you're not with me... then you're my enemy. Only a Sith deals in absolutes. I will do what I must. You will try. I hear a new apprentice you have, Emperor. Or should I call you Darth Sidious? Master Yoda. You survived. Surprised? Your arrogance blinds you, Master Yoda.)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I really like a lot the bars in here. A strong pick for the theme (8.4)
District: liked the instrumental here, solid delivery as well. I do wish it was more dynamic sonically. (8.2)
Aero: (8.4)
Daryl: (8.75)
Overall Score: 33.75
You two have been rolling through the competition, and securing your spot in the top 5 with a win is a great way to continue that. You'll get a +1.1 bonus next leg.

Moving back up to second yet again is...
2. Weezer (willapted33 & ramona wants sleep )Overall Score: 106.1 | Detour Rank: #4 | Roadblock Rank: #1 | Intersection Rank: #1 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0.2Detour Results:
(Highly Skilled)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I have this one on vinyl! I could really listen to the chorus all day, it's so wonderful. Having some fantastic lyricism doesn't hurt either (9.9)District: I love how grand this sounds, it has a great chorus too! (8.6)Gates: Some of the best lyrics Taupin ever wrote--engrossing ruminations on what happens when your evolving life goals and ideas on what makes you happy, clash with what people expect or want from you as your circumstances change. Lovely melodies that swirl and sway around questioningly in every direction before landing on notes of triumph (9)Jugg: 0 - You are seriously telling me of the 3 EJ songs and his COMPLETE discography, this was the best you can come up with? This makes me angry on such a level I wish you could comprehend. I've always had a hatred for this song and considering the round, that just is the final nail in the coffin for being as annoying as Benny and The Jets and Crocodile Rock. Edit: After cooling the f**k down, I have decided a 0 was too harsh for a game meant for fun. I'm still angry and disappointed by this choice, but a 0? Nah. Not that bad. (4)Overall Score: 31.5
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Will)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I have nothing but good things to say about this song. From the way the verses drift to the staggered vocal delivery in the chorus, everything about this song works to create some great vibes (9.8)District: this song is so perfect and hauntingly beautiful. I especially love that staircasing melody that overlays the song. (10)Jamesflame: (8.9)Born: Every listen of this song feels like a journey. The dreamy production is immaculate but it’s definitely the singing & the vocal production that makes the song. It could be a B-side off Souvlaki. Songs that make me feel nostalgic (for any reason) tend to be the ones closest to my heart so picture this song somewhere inside my rib cage. (9.3)Overall Score: 38
Intersection Results:
(Sent with The Invisible Hand)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: It's hard not to totally love this song. Everything about it is simply fantastic (10)
District: I am still slowly yet surely understanding the appreciation for this song over time. While it's still not my favourite off of Pure Heroine, it really is a gorgeous track, driven by a simple percussion pattern for most of it. It deserves all the hype that it gets. (9.6)
Aero: (7.8)
Daryl: (9)
Overall Score: 36.4
You two won two of three challenges, and if one judge hadn't tanked you would've won all three! Hopefully a +0.2 bonus next leg will help you keep up this newly found momentum.

Landing in the top 3 for the third straight time is...3. The Invisible Hand (Red & Sambalada )Overall Score: 104.7 | Detour Rank: #3 | Roadblock Rank: #5 | Intersection Rank: #1 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0.8Detour Results:
(Dwarf Build)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: The fast flows and hyper beat of this song are perfect for its short length (8.2)District: (8)Gates: "Why?" by Jeffy and Jadakiss both outsold but this is a strong third place (8.3)Jugg: Someone actually sending a song and not being lazy by sending an interlude? Immediately give this team some POINTS (10)Overall Score: 34.5
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Samba)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This kinda bops! There were probably better options from Yukika, but that certainly isn't to say this is a bad option by any means (8.3)
District: When this came out I wasn't enamored with it like I was with Soul Lady when I first heard that, but I've been coming back to this a lot recently. Really love her sound. I've also played it to friends, and they love it, but they specifically love the part where it sounds like she says 'yum yum' in the chorus lmao. (9.6)
Jamesflame: (7.4)
Born: I’m not the biggest Yukika fan (probably because I’m not big on nu-disco unless it’s very watered down, like in Future Nostalgia) but I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. (7.7)
Overall Score: 33
Intersection Results:
(Sent with Weezer)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: It's hard not to totally love this song. Everything about it is simply fantastic (10)

Avoiding the bottom 2 is...
4. Team Don't lecture me, Obi-Wan. Surprised? Your arrogance blinds you, Master Yoda. Now you will experience... the full power of the dark side. I have waited a long time for this moment... my little green friend. (filthy & tanooki )Overall Score: 100.85 | Detour Rank: #5 | Roadblock Rank: #3 | Intersection Rank: #2 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0.4Detour Results:
(Dwarf Build)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This song has some fantastic instrumentation, the prominent strings standing out in that regard. Im not the biggest fan of listening to interludes without the album, but I enjoyed this for what it was (7.9)District: (7.8)Gates: All the beauty of "All Of The Lights"'s melodies without the cringey lyrics, I'd buy that for a dollar (8.2)Jugg: It's beautiful sounding and a good lead in for the full song but it does absolutely nothing special. (6.4)Overall Score: 30.3
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Filthy)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: A great track that really deserved to have been sent by now. I can definitely see why the band is such a RYM favorite (9.6)District: I love the subdued vocals, allowing those guitars and other melodies to shine. Great synths on the chorus. (9.4)Jamesflame: (7.8)Born: MBV’s discography has been in my to-listen list forever but I’m stupid and I’m waiting for the right moment to dive in. This has more punch than I thought it would. Once again, I love the mixing here, like in pretty much everything retro-shoegaze. I’m surprised no one ever sent a my bloody valentine song so good catch to whoever picked this! (9.6)Overall Score: 36.4
Intersection Results:
(Sent with Anne-Marie's Ninjas)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I really like a lot the bars in here. A strong pick for the theme (8.4)
District: liked the instrumental here, solid delivery as well. I do wish it was more dynamic sonically. (8.2)
Aero: (8.4)
Daryl: (8.75)
Overall Score: 33.75
An all around solid performance this leg sent you two in the top 5 with a +0.2 bonus.

Grabbing the last spot in the top 5 is...
5. Dula Peep Please Step on My Face (HamedM1 💔 & @jadenlefranks )Overall Score: 92.7 | Detour Rank: #6 | Roadblock Rank: #4 | Intersection Rank: #3 | Bonus From Last Leg: +1.3Detour Results:
(Dwarf Build)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This kinda fells like mid-tier SZA - which is still pretty good, but not too special (7.9)District: (8.3)Gates: This was sort of disappointing; most of what I heard from CTRL suggested SZA came out from the get-go with a focused artistic vision for her psychedelic abstract style. This track, while still pretty good, felt more ordinary, as if someone like Ella Mai could've hopped on the beat with no problem. Also, Fauntleroy didn't really justify his presence; he held a pleasant tune, but the perspective switch should've felt more like a progression, and it didn't for me. (6.3)Jugg: Cute. Forgettable. Honest to God you had a full range of short songs and you sent....this. I am Jacks Sense of Disappointment (5.7)Overall Score: 28.2
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Hamed)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This is a unique take on the classic breakup/jealousy song - I like it. The horns in the instrumental are a nice touch as well (8.4)District: I didn't expect to like this as much as I did because this usually isn't my sound, but this clicked with me! Very beautiful in the song's mellowness, and her tone is perfect for this song. (8.9)Jamesflame: (8)Born: Excellent pick. For some reason I’m expecting to see Samba or Will behind it. Extra points for not sending “At Last”. (9.4)Overall Score: 34.7
Intersection Results:
(Sent with Red Planets)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: As much as I enjoyed Aretha's delivery of these great lyrics, as well as the piano, the song does drag a bit at nearly 10 minutes long. (8)District: this was quite long, but I can appreciate it from an artistic view. it is not something I would actively seek out, however. (7)Aero: (5.5)Daryl: (8)Overall Score: 28.5
Right after your first leg win, you two tumbled down to the back of the pack again. No bonus for next leg, but you're still in to reclaim your glory from last leg
Unfortunately being eliminated is... 6. Red Planets (BB🌕 & Fire )Overall Score: 88.8 | Detour Rank: #2 | Roadblock Rank: #6 | Intersection Rank: #3 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0Detour Results:
(Highly Skilled)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: There's few musical moments I love more than the build up to the chorus in this song. The rest of the song doesn't quite reach those heights (ha) but I'm a big fan of it nonetheless (9.5)District: I will admit that I'm relatively new to Elton's discography compared to everyone else, so I am not as emotionally attached to this music. I did love all the Elton songs here, but this was my least favourite by a very small margin. (8.5)Gates: Very easy to tell this was inspired by Space Oddity because it has those same slow airy arrangements, while trading the jazzier moments for big sweeping ensemble bits. There are some inelegant lines in the lyrics that keep my connection to them at arm's length, but it's still an insightful look at when being a provider for your family/community gets in the way of being present for them emotionally/developmentally (7.7)Jugg: This is a Proper Elton song. Perfect production, signature vocals, nice and relaxing. There is a reason this is one of the main songs people think of when you think Elton (8.9)Overall Score: 34.6
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Fire)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: There's some songs in here where I'm baffled by how they haven't been sent before. This is not one of them. It's a thoroughly unremarkable dance song (5)
District: Honestly this bops. (8.2)
Jamesflame: (6.7)
Born: Poor whoever sent this, you seem to have forgotten that I was a potential judge. It’s not bad but it doesn’t feel like… a contender? This is something they would play in a beach bar in Greece, from a YouTube playlist called “clubbing vibez”. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an edm veteran give this a 5/5 praising its sensuality or something but for me, it’s middle of the pack. (5.8)
Overall Score: 25.7
Intersection Results:
(Sent with Dula Peep Please Step on My Face)
Judge's Thoughts:
Nick: As much as I enjoyed Aretha's delivery of these great lyrics, as well as the piano, the song does drag a bit at nearly 10 minutes long. (8)
District: this was quite long, but I can appreciate it from an artistic view. it is not something I would actively seek out, however. (7)
Aero: (5.5)
Daryl: (8)
Overall Score: 28.5
After a handful of performances lagging behind the other teams, that finally caught up to you this leg, and I'm sorry to say that you have been eliminated from the race. Thanks for playing!

Challenge #1: Detour
What is a detour? In these challenges, two themes will be available, and teams will choose to send a song for the one they feel more confident in. Be sure to specify which theme you are sending for!
Detour Themes Not Passive or Supermassive
Not Passive: Not much is known about black holes. However, they are defined as regions of spacetime with a gravity so powerful that it engulfs everything (even light) so that it cannot escape, and holds it in. For this detour, you must send a song that was part of an artist’s strategy to not let an album escape: a song added onto a deluxe album.
OR
Supermassive: TON 618 is classified as a supermassive black hole. SMBHs have masses on the order of billions of times of the sun. English rock band Muse have an eponymous track with the astronomical object, with Supermassive Black Hole being one of their biggest hits. For this detour, you must send the hit song of an alternative or rock act that only has one hit, eclipsing all of their other songs.
Challenge #2: Roadblock What is a roadblock? In these challenges, only one member of the team can come up with a song to send. No consulting. You'll be on the honor system here. Send in your group pm who will do this road block. They will then without consulting their teammate see the theme and send the song in individual pms. tl;dr only one person sends a song, pick who that is in the group pms, then and only then they see the theme.
Just one more thing — this leg, you'll be racing with randomly selected new partners! For this leg and this leg only, you will be paired with a different partner. The winning duo will earn a +5 bonus for both their teams in the next leg, while the losing duo will force both their teams to face a speed bump next leg. Here are the randomized teams:
MoD & filthy maine & @jadenlefranks willapted33 & Red ramona wants sleep & Sambalada HamedM1 💔 & tanooki
Consult with your teammate and get your songs in within 36 hours or else your team will NOT have a song in that category and will get an automatic 0/10. Feel free to ask Nick and District any and all questions you may have. The universe is waiting for you. Travel safe. Go!

The brand new team with the greatest success this leg is...
1. The Invisible Weezer (Red & willapted33)Overall Score: 68.0 | Detour Rank: #1 | Roadblock Rank: #2Detour Results:
(Supermassive)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: (9.7)District: Recently discovered this in Pulsevision, it's such a gorgeous track. (9.6)AI: (6.4)BB: (10)Overall Score: 35.7
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Will)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: (8.5)
District: This was a great first listen, I'd say it's one of my favourite OutKast songs now. (9.3)
Peace: (8.0)
Brian: Interesting background music at the beginning. Big Boi is solid rapping here as is Andre 3000. It kinda tries to be about a cautionary tale about this girl and simultaneously be about her friend who's easy to "party" with. Wish they had stuck with one lane here. The ending skit is interesting. (6.5)
Overall Score: 32.3
For winning this leg, your respective teams will be receiving a +5 bonus for the next leg! That may be a game-changer for your teams, nice job!

Just shy of getting a bonus for their teams are...
2. Dula Peep Please Step On My Ninjas (@jadenlefranks & maine )Overall Score: 66.4 | Detour Rank: #4 | Roadblock Rank: #1Detour Results:
(Not Passive)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: (8.5)District: One of my favourite Rihanna songs, this one is a classic. (9.5) AI: (6.3)BB: (8.9)Overall Score: 33.2
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by James)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: (8.7)
District: My favourite roadblock pick here, I've been streaming this since it came out. Love the collaboration here, a great chill track (9.5)
Peace: (7.1)
Brian: Another pleasant listen. Not the best example of Miguel singing here, but this song about skywalking on the haters is effective. The background music adds an atmosphere to it that's nice to listen to. Scott contributes a solid verse. (7.9)
Overall Score: 33.2
Although you had the first place roadblock, the detour cost you two a win in this leg.

Finding themselves in the middle of the pack are...
3. Weezer Hand (ramona wants sleep & Sambalada )Overall Score: 66.1 | Detour Rank: #3 | Roadblock Rank: #3Detour Results:
(Supermassive)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: (8.8)District: Although the song repeats its chorus over two-thirds of its length, I really loved how her laid-back delivery contrasts the booming instruments, keeping it interesting. (9.0)AI: (7.8)BB: (9.0)Overall Score: 34.6
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Ramona)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: (7.4)
District: I really like this, it's so smooth and breezy and easy-listening. (8.9)
Peace: (6.7)
Brian: Nice instrumental at the beginning allows for a pleasing soundscape. The vocals are likewise a pleasant listen. The mix of piano and synths really work here. I can see myself coming back to this one. (8.5)
Overall Score: 31.5
Placing 3rd in both challenges was not enough to earn bonuses for your respective original teams, but it was solid enough to avoid the Speed Bump!

Doing decently enough to avoid the Speed Bump are...
4. Don't Lecture Me, Face (HamedM1 💔 & tanooki )Overall Score: 64.9 | Detour Rank: #2 | Roadblock Rank: #5Detour Results:
(Supermassive)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: (8.7)District: Every time I see the title of this song I go "I know that song but I don't," then I listen to it and go "waittt I love this song" (9.2)AI: (7.2)BB: (9.7)Overall Score: 34.8
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Tanooki)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: (8.1)
District: I would love to dive into The Strokes' discography one day, I've loved most things I've heard from them, and this is no exception! (9.2)
Peace: (6.8)
Brian: The title is a reference to Brave New World in case you were wondering. The guitar on this one is strong. Unfortunately, the vocals have a hard time being heard in the middle of this song. It gets better in the second half when he starts to raise his voice. Perhaps it's a production issue or maybe it's just my issue with The Strokes? (6.0)
Overall Score: 30.1
A stronger detour choice allowed you to do well enough to miss last place.
Unfortunately, one team has both of their members in the bottom two...

Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Filthy)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: (8.0)
District: (8.5)
Peace: (6.2)
Brian: The drums and guitars are solid here. Anthony Kiedis delivers some solid vocals to this song. The lyrics are fairly dense, but that's a strength when listening to this one. (7.6)
Overall Score: 30.3
For placing last place, teams 'Anne-Marie's Ninjas' and 'Don't Lecture Me, Obi-Wan' will have to perform the Speed Bump next leg, where each team can receive a few points off their final score. It is noteworthy that these two teams have the top 2 best leg averages, so this has a chance to level up the playing field! Good luck next leg!

Challenge #1: Detour
What is a detour? In these challenges, two themes will be available, and teams will choose to send a song for the one they feel more confident in. Be sure to specify which theme you are sending for!
Detour Themes Looking Blue or Amateur View
Looking Blue: To most observers, the Ghost of Jupiter looks either blue or green. For this detour, you must send a song that was released in a year where the Pantone color of the year was a shade of blue or green (2020, 2017, 2016, 2013, 2010, 2005, 2003, 2000).
OR
Amateur View: The Ghost of Jupiter can be seen by most anyone, even those using amateur telescopes. For this detour, you send another amateur song, an artist’s debut single.
Challenge #3: PAR WarsWhat are the PAR Wars?PAR Wars is a brand new type of challenge as we traverse the universe! In these challenges, you must either choose to send a song for "The Light Side" or "The Dark Side". If you send a Light Side song, your goal is to send the best song possible. If you send a Dark Side song, your goal is to send the worst song possible (scoring will be inverted here, so a 0/10 becomes a 10/10). However, the theme for both categories is the same, and you don't get to see the theme until you lock in whether you'll be doing The Light Side or The Dark Side.PLEASE READ: Each team has to attempt both sides of PAR Wars at least once over the entire game to be eligible to win the season. If you haven't done The Dark Side or The Light Side yet over the season, you must do so in this leg.
MoD/James & Filthy/Tanooki will have to partake in a Speed Bump (where they can lose up to 6 points) due to teammates placing last in the Partner Swap leg.
Consult with your teammate and get your songs in within 36 hours or else your team will NOT have a song in that category and will get an automatic 0/10. Feel free to ask Nick and District any and all questions you may have. The universe is waiting for you. Travel safe. Go!
