Next up is...10. The Real Housewives of Pulse (Crimsonio & walt91 )Overall Score: 68.5 | Detour Rank: #14 | Roadblock Rank: #4Detour Results:
(Light Reflector)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: Torn is a very cute, pleasant song! I rarely feel the need to go out of my way to listen to it, but I'm also never gonna complain if I do hear it. All around solid song (7.9)District: (9.7)Leo: I’ve always loved this. Such a delicate voice and production that totally works here in a marvelous way. (9.7)Wrip: I think if I had grown up listening to this then I’d probably enjoy it more. I don’t think this is a bad song necessarily, I just don’t think it’s all that interesting. (6.7)Overall Score: 34 Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Walt)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: The emotion in this track hits all the right notes, and I really like the line "every promise don't work out that way". Beyoncé giving such a heartfelt performance helps to elevate the track even more (8.8)
District: Not my favourite from Lemonade but sometimes I find myself randomly coming back to this. Beyonce's vocals along with the backing vocals and a simple piano line work really nicely together. (8.3)
Shooter: one of the more underrated cuts in Bey’s catalog; the lyrics combined with the emotion she wrings out of them vocally is top tier. (10)
lyhom: piano ballads aren't usually my thing but beyonce is a very good singer so that definitely helped me appreciate this more (7.4)
Overall Score: 34.5
Though this leg was an inconsistent leg for you two, you're still fighting and in the race, and you'll get a +1 bonus next leg

Just avoiding the bottom 5 is...
11. The Ranimals (rom & ry4n )Overall Score: 68.3 | Detour Rank: #8 | Roadblock Rank: #12Detour Results:
(Light Reflector)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This is a solid electronic track. I think the more raw vocals are complemented by the beat. The lyrics, though repetitive, are solid for what they are, and overall this is a good track (8.5)District: (9.3)Leo: Synthpop well done. (9.5)Wrip: I actually had no clue this was a cover, but honestly this slaps. The productions really makes me feel a way, and I’d probably rate this higher if I was just a bit more into the vocals. (8.7)Overall Score: 36 Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Ry4n)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: Future Nostalgia as a whole never did a ton for me, but I do like this song. The sample works effectively, and the heavier chords in the pre-chorus click for me. (8.2)
District: One of my favourite non-singles from Future Nostalgia, if not my favourite! The sample fits really nicely, and I also love the strings that begin and end the song. (9.2)
Shooter: Predictable choice but but a bop is a bop and the "Your Woman" sample made this an instant favorite of mine. (8)
lyhom: oh it's the song of hers that samples "your woman"! it doesn't fit all that well. still a decent song, though (6.9)
Overall Score: 32.3
A fairly middle of the road performance, but hopefully that means that there's room for improvement for you two in the future! You'll get a +0.8 bonus next leg

Our first team in the bottom 5 is...
12. Yabby Barrett (Beno & taylor )Overall Score: 67.9 | Detour Rank: #10 | Roadblock Rank: #13Detour Results:
(Light Reflector)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: Is there really too much to say about this song beyond the fact that it's a masterpiece? Cash's aging vocals blend perfectly with the guitar to create a simultaneously haunting and beautiful song (10)District: (8.6)Leo: I do admit Johnny’s voice is not my cup the tea, but for the love of God, how this song builds from start to the end is just gorgeous. You can feel how raw his voice is and the emotion put into the song. (9.5)Wrip: This is an example of a song that I can appreciate more than I actually enjoy.(7.5)Overall Score: 35.6
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Tay)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This is a sweet enough track. Mariah delivers strong vocals, and the writing is good, but I am left wishing it went somewhere a little more. Pretty good for what it is though (8)
District: This was pleasant enough, but not that memorable. (7.7)
Shooter: Butterfly is my favorite Mariah album so pretty much anything submitted from it would’ve earned high marks from me. (9)
lyhom: the beat kind of sounds like soap opera background music but that's not a bad thing and mariah sounds good here as usual (7.6)
Overall Score: 32.3
Not the strongest way to start the race off, but you're still in it with a +0.6 bonus next leg

Coming in at 13th is...13. LorZedtones (Lordef†ones & matteeeb )Overall Score: 67.4 | Detour Rank: #1 | Roadblock Rank: #16Detour Results:
(Light Reflector)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: A classic in every sense of the word. I think the backing and lead vocals have some great interplay, and the last 30 seconds or so are just truly wonderful. (9.3)District: (9.2)Leo: Undeniable the fact that this is one of the best songs of all time. Nothing wrong with this. (9.5)Wrip: This isn’t even my favorite of her big singles, but regardless it’s an amazing song. The lyrics are very empowering, and the fact that her music has held up extremely well over time definitely shows what a legend she is. (9.7)Overall Score: 37.7
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Zedd)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: Thankfully I don't have enough scrobbles of this song to hold a grudge against it for the title change. I do really enjoy Charli & Kim's parts, but the Jay Park verse, while not on its own bad, kinda feels out of place. I still generally enjoy the song though (8.3)
District: Unlock It is super catchy, and I enjoy the sparkly production. (8.7)
Shooter: Can’t say I love this as a very casual Charli fan but it doesn’t sound like total noise so that’s a plus. (5)
lyhom: it amuses me more than it should that enough people were confused by the title being "unlock it" rather than "lock it" that the latter was added to the title for seo reasons after this got big on tiktok lol (7.7)
Overall Score: 29.7
Despite winning the detour, you two had the lowest scoring roadblock of the set (and the only song to get a score below 30), which landed you down here. Hopefully a +0.4 bonus next leg will help you move up higher

Dodging the bottom 2 is...14. Born to Jugg (born & CagedJuggalo The Third Tanker )Overall Score: 67 | Detour Rank: #16 | Roadblock Rank: #4Detour Results:
(World Connector)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This is a cool track. The echo-ey effects on the vocals help to engage and make the song feel more unique. I do kinda wish there was a bit more going on with it, because as is I worry I'll basically just forget about this song once this leg is done (7.5)District: (8.9)Leo: I remember a friend recommended me a couple of her songs and I only liked one. Of the three songs I’ve listened by her, this is my favorite. (9.2)Wrip: Unfortunately I’m not clicking with this as much as I had hoped to. It’s not something I can rate extremely low but I wish I liked it more than I do. (7.3)Overall Score: 32.9 Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Jugg)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This is a perfectly serviceable mid-2000s pop song, but not one I really connect with (7.4)
District: I need to listen to this Madonna album. The entire song is so smooth and the chorus is an earworm. (8.6)
Shooter: a classic (although I can think of several other #8 M tracks I would’ve submitted over this). The whole Confessions era was such a moment of pop perfection though; undeniable. (10)
lyhom: not my favourite confessions on a dance floor single but you can't really go wrong with any of them (8.1)
Overall Score: 34.1
Your poor detour performance tanked you, but your roadblock saved you from elimination. You'll get a +0.2 bonus next leg

Making it to the next leg is...15. Red Planets (BB🌕 & Fire )Overall Score: 66.2 | Detour Rank: #13 | Roadblock Rank: #14Detour Results:
(Light Reflector)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This is a very well done cover. I like how it manages to preserve the original song while also inject the unique energy of Blondie that makes so many of their tracks great listens (8.7)District: (8.8)Leo: This bops. I really like the classic vibe this has. (9.2)Wrip: This is pretty nice, I don’t think I’d actively seek it out but I definitely think it’s a solid song. (8.2)Overall Score: 34.9
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Fire)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This song is perfectly pleasant to have on in the background. The issue is that nothing about it really goes beyond perfectly fine background music for me. As impressive as some of the high notes are here, I need a little more to really engage me when I'm listening to it (7.2)District: I did not love Positions outside of a few songs, and this was no exception. Sorry to say that this is my least favourite song this round. (6.9)Shooter: easily my favorite from positions and one of Ari’s finest vocal performances on record! (10)lyhom: ah, this was in wtm I think? I don't remember having this terribly high but those lists are always pretty stacked so this is still pretty good, although I probably wouldn't return to it often (7.2)Overall Score: 31.3This wasn't your leg, but you did manage to survive to the next leg, even if you won't have a bonus
Unfortunately being eliminated is...16. The Rodrighoes (dremolus - solarpunk & Mayman )Overall Score: 65.9 | Detour Rank: #11 | Roadblock Rank: #15Detour Results:
(Light Reflector)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: The guitar work on here is truly fantastic. This is another one where I really like how the artist takes the song and makes it their own, as Hendrix is able to take Bob Dylan's great songwriting and add his own flair to it (9.2)District: (8.7)Leo: This genre is not my favorite, but this song stands out because the killer instrumentation it has, it definitively elevates the song (8.6)Wrip: The instrumentation on Jimi’s tracks always rocks. Solid cover. (8.5)Overall Score: 35
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Drem)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I do wish I could say I liked this more than I do. I enjoy the beat and the piano melody, but the vocals just don't really do it for me at all. (6.8)
District: I love how this builds and dissolves into indiscernible chants by the end of the song, only to come back down at the very end. Beautifully crafted and structured. (9.1)
Shooter: also not one of my favorite Jamie xx tracks but it’s pleasant enough mood music. (6)
lyhom: I put this in a personal rankdown so you'd hope that I'd like this a lot lol (9)
Overall Score: 30.9
Sadly, neither of your songs did too well with the judges, and I'm sorry to say that you have been eliminated from the race and will have to head back to Earth. Thanks for playing!

Challenge #1: Detour
What is a detour? In these challenges, two themes will be available, and teams will choose to send a song for the one they feel more confident in. Be sure to specify which theme you are sending for!
Detour Themes Color Mixer or Small Fixture
Color Mixer: The Sun is made up of a mix of all colors, thus appearing white to our eyes. For this detour, you must send a song that similarly mixes together a variety of things, namely one that is a collaboration between two artists from different genres.
OR
Smaller Fixture: Despite currently being the size of about one million Earths, one day the Sun will just be the size of about one Earth. For this detour, you must send a song that similarly shrunk in significance over time, namely a flopped follow-up to a highly successful single.
Challenge #2: Roadblock What is a roadblock? In these challenges, only one member of the team can come up with a song to send. No consulting. You'll be on the honor system here. Send in your group pm who will do this road block. They will then without consulting their teammate see the theme and send the song in individual pms. tl;dr only one person sends a song, pick who that is in the group pms, then and only then they see the theme.
Consult with your teammate and get your songs in within 36 hours or else your team will NOT have a song in that category and will get an automatic 0/10. Feel free to ask Nick and District any and all questions you may have. The universe is waiting for you. Travel safe. Go!

Not surprised about us landing last in the roadblock though. I listened to that song and hated it

Can I submit Florida Georgia Line since one is a Democrat and the other is a Republican? And what makes that even funnier too is that it's Florida who's the Republican and Georgia who's the Democrat, if I'm not mistaken from what I saw of all that in October-November 2020. What an...interesting mirror image
