Staying steady is...6. Dula Peep Please Step on My Face (@jadenlefranks & HamedM1 💔 )Overall Score: 68.6 | Detour Rank: #11 | Roadblock Rank: #4 | Bonus From Last Leg: +1.8Detour Results:
(Color Mixer)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: The original Easy is a truly great song. This kinda waters down what was good about the original by making it faster and a little too overproduced for my liking. At least Troye and Kacey sound good (7.6)District: (8.9)Adrian: As much as I like this song, it's an expected choice. Also, Troye Sivan and Mark Ronson don't differ a whole lot in terms of genre. Good song like I mentioned, but I personally feel like you could've gone a different route here. (5.4/7 quality + 2.5/3 theme = 7.9)Drem: I get the appeal and Kacey and Troye have nice chemistry but it doesn’t click with me harder (7.5)Overall Score: 31.9
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Jaden)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: Some cringey lines aside, this is probably my favorite Olivia Rodrigo song I've heard. The specifics in the lyrics make it feel very genuine, and musically this just works well (especially the bridge) (8.6)
District: while this is still my least favourite Sour single, it recently clicked with me. my favourite part is the instrumental breakdown right after the chorus. (8.5)
Geometrical: The best Olivia Rodrigo song out there imo (8)
Mayman: The production on this is my favorite part of the song, especially during the final chorus. She sounds amazing on this as well. (9.8)
Overall Score: 34.9
A strong roadblock but a weaker detour landed you right where you were last leg. You'll get a +1.6 bonus to help you break into the top 5 next leg

Taking a slight dip this leg is...7. Feeters (@chartf**ker72 & samo🦕 )Overall Score: 68.5 | Detour Rank: #9 | Roadblock Rank: #9 | Bonus From Last Leg: +2.2Detour Results:
(Smaller Fixture)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: False Alarm: How this flopped will forever be a mystery to me (8.7)District: (9.0) Adrian: This song has always been a standout from its album in my opinion. I really enjoy it, but I do not think this fits the theme because the song was only ever released as a promotional single, so of course it wasn't going to perform anywhere near as well as "Starboy". (6.3/7 quality + 0.5/3 theme = 6.8) dremolus: In hindsight, I get why this flopped but also WHY DID THIS FLOP??? (8.5)Overall Score: 33
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by CF72)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I struggle to form an opinion on this song, and on Olivia Rodrigo as a whole. I think I basically like this song though (7.9)
District: I don't love how her voice sounds on this, but I enjoy the brash sound with the "f it all" lyrics. (8.3)
Geo: I wasn't expecting this from Olivia Rodrigo, but the pop-punk vibe is pretty good, guess I wish the lyrics were better though (7.5)
Mayman: This is such a banger and a great way to kick off the album. That chorus is just so fun and shoutable, I love it. My only problem with this is I wish it went a little longer. (9.6)
Overall Score: 33.3
Although you guys took a minor tumble, you're still safe in the middle of the pack. A +1.4 bonus may help you rebound next leg.

Taking a jump up is...8. LorZedtones (matteeeb & Lordef†ones )Overall Score: 68.4 | Detour Rank: #3 | Roadblock Rank: #11 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0.4Detour Results:
(Color Mixer)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: Disclosure and Lorde really complement each other on this song. I like the clicky instrumental, and the vocals are very strong here (8.6)District: (9.9)Adrian: This one holds up quite well. Lorde's voice just works super well with this production. Still one of my favorite Disclosure songs and it deserved more success than it got. (6.1/7 quality + 3/3 theme = 9.1)Drem: And this is just as great as when I first heard back in 2016. Sexy, dangerous, and intoxicating, it’s one of Lorde’s more fun tracks and one of Disclosure’s best (8.9)Overall Score: 36.5
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Lord)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I don't mind this song, and I think the chorus is pretty pleasant. I just can't see a reason why I would go out of my way to listen to this over other, similar Billie Eilish song (6.2)
District: when this came out I didn't like it but I do now! the song is nothing groundbreaking for Billie (or Finneas) but I enjoy the guitar line. (8.8)
Geometrical: Billie Eilish tends to be hit or miss with me; this is definitely a case of the latter (9.1)
Mayman: I like the message she's going for in this song, but at times it can get a little boring. The song has grown on me and I enjoy the chorus a good bit, which is what really brings the score up for me. (7.4)
Overall Score: 31.5
Once again, you two had a strong detour and a weak roadblock once again, but doing slightly better on the roadblock helped raise your rank. You'll get a +1.2 bonus next leg

Holding in 9th is...
9. The Invisible Hand (Red & Sambalada )Overall Score: 67.6 | Detour Rank: #10 | Roadblock Rank: #6 | Bonus From Last Leg: +1.2Detour Results:
(Smaller Fixture)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: Simply a nice big poptastic track. There's always room for songs like this in the world (8.7)District: (8.5)Adrian: I love this song and Kylie Minogue in general, but I most certainly don't see this as a flopped follow-up. It still peaked moderately high on the Hot 100 and reached the Top 10 on pop radio. So no, I don't agree with the team that thought this was a flop. (6.8/7 quality + 0.5/3 theme = 7.3)Drem: If I was a bigger Kylie Minogue fan, I think I would be head over heels for this. But even as someone who’s ambivalent to her, it’s catchy and fun. Would fit right in with the disco she’s making now (7.7)Overall Score: 32.2
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Red)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This song is just so purely pleasant. Good vibes all around, it's been one I've returned to a fair amount lately (9)
District: like with KMM, the laid-back sound works really well with the artist's vocals. Kali sounds great. (9.4)
Geometrical: It's solid, don't really anything else to say on it (7.6)
Mayman: This is a pretty good song. I haven't heard much from her, but I need to check her out. (8.2)
Overall Score: 34.2
You two seem fairly steady, but you're steady near the bottom of the pack. You'll get a +1 bonus to help you improve next leg

Okay, I know that some of you have an issue with our detour pick, so hear me out. In our defense, "Can't Get You Out of My Head" was a massive worldwide hit, and, even in the States, where it sort of underperformed compared to the rest of the world, it still went top ten. "Love at First Sight" did markedly worse in quite a few countries, including the US. We did not send "Love at First Sight" to "appease the judges". We sent it in no small part because we both love the song, and being on the same page matters a lot to both of us. But we also did take into account the theme as well. It was an underperformer, if not an outright flop.
Having said that...I will say that we didn't realize that it hit top ten on pop radio in the US before locking it in. Had we known that before locking in our pick, at the very least, our detour pick would have been more of a tossup between LAFS and our potential Color Mixer submission.

The next safe team is...
10. Yabby Barrett (Beno & taylor )Overall Score: 65.9 | Detour Rank: #14 | Roadblock Rank: #3 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0.6Detour Results:
(Color Mixer)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: People did not seem high on this pick but I kinda like it! I appreciate sending a song that hasn't been overused in these games, which is something that not everyone managed to accomplish. The chorus is truly great, and the verses aren't half bad! (8.4)District: (8.2)Adrian: I like both of these artists and this song is kind of fun. It doesn't strike me as anything particularly amazing, and it's also really not that memorable because I know I've heard this before, yet I could not for the life of me remember what it sounded like. (4/7 quality + 3/3 theme = 7)Drem: Miranda and Elle King have nice chemistry and the hook is really, really good, but I’m not a fan at all of the percussion on the verses. That said, the hook really muscle this track to being really good (6.8)Overall Score: 30.4
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by beno)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I know this is a bad opinion but though I liked this at one point, it never really held up for me, and I could be perfectly happy never hearing it again (6.8)
District: lol. I still love this as much as I did when I first heard it, truly a modern classic. (9.4)
Geometrical: Overplayed as it may be, it's era-defining and almost flawless in terms of production (9.9)
Mayman: This is already a classic. It's such a good song and everyone knows it. The production on this is the best part of it for me. (8.8)
Overall Score: 34.9
Nice job with hitting a new peak in your placement. Here's a +0.8 bonus to help with the next leg, keep it up!

Taking a big tumble is...
11. Weezer (willapted33 & ramona wants sleep )Overall Score: 65.8 | Detour Rank: #13 | Roadblock Rank: #10 | Bonus From Last Leg: +2.6Detour Results:
(Smaller Fixture)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: A fun, throwback, alt rock track. I think it's a creative way of looking at the theme which I like (8.8)District: (8.6)Adrian: This one is always a fun listen for me, but I have issues with its connection to the theme. I believe this team saw it as a follow-up to "Death Bed", but beabadoobee's feature credit is just a sample, so I don't view it as her song and I don't see "Care" as the follow-up to that. (6.2/7 quality + 0.5/3 theme = 6.7)Drem: setting aside the fact this is not a flopped follow-up to a highly successful single (even if we say death bed is her song, Coffee had been around for two years at that point), this is just fine. Just makes me listen to better 90s-alt throwbacks like The Beths or Soccer Mommy (6.5)Overall Score: 30.6 Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Ramona)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This is one of my favorite Hot 100 songs at the moment. Giveon gives an emotive vocal performance full of range, and the lyrics have some good specifics in them that really elevate the song (8.9)
District: Giveon's voice is beautiful on here, and it's rightfully highlighted with very minimal production. (8.1)
Geometrical: Solid, but doesn't really move me one way or another (7.5)
Mayman: This is a pretty decent song. I enjoy some of his other songs more, but this one is his most radio friendly one so I get why it's blowing up. (8.1)
Overall Score: 32.6
Not nearly as good of a performance as you had last leg, but you'll still get a +0.6 bonus next leg

Also falling way down is...12. Mylo Shark (razorshark & Mylo13 💜 )Overall Score: 65.4 | Detour Rank: #5 | Roadblock Rank: #15 | Bonus From Last Leg: +2Detour Results:
(Smaller Fixture)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: Probably the best After Hours single. It's got some great instrumental touches and I like how The Weeknd sounds here (8.7)District: (9.3)Adrian: Easily one of the standouts from After Hours. I love the groove, I love the beat, and I think The Weeknd sounds great! But that sax solo towards the end just does it for me every time. (6.4/7 quality + 2.5/3 theme = 8.9)Drem: Actually one of my favorite songs on After Hours and my second favorite single after Heartless (8.9)Overall Score: 35.8
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Razor)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I think this was in a Madness? It's alright, perfectly listenable. Jazmine Sullivan has a great voice. But it's basically unremarkable (6.7)
District: unfortunately I don't gravitate towards this sound but this was pretty good for what it was. (7)
Geometrical: Just doesn't click with me in any way. I definitely appreciate a good R&B song, but the songwriting is cliché and the melody alternates between bland verses and an irritating hook. I guess I placed this bottom 10 in WTM for a reason, lol. (5.6)
Mayman: This is pretty good. The vocals here are great and I need to listen to this song more. (8.3)
Overall Score: 27.6
Despite a strong detour, you two had a very poor roadblock performance, landing you down here. You'll get a +0.4 bonus next leg

Dodging the bottom 2 is...13. Team Don't lecture me, Obi-Wan. I see through the lies of the Jedi (filthy & tanooki )Overall Score: 62.9 | Detour Rank: #8 | Roadblock Rank: #13 | Bonus From Last Leg: +1.6Detour Results:
(Color Mixer)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This is so good. The jazzy instrumental perfectly complements both Anderson .Paak and Mac Miller. One of the best tracks in the set (9.3)District: (8.2)Adrian: This song is pretty groovy and the production is cool. Not much else for me to say about it haha, but pretty good song overall. (5.7/7 quality + 2.5/3 theme = 8.2)Drem: I think this was my first introduction to Anderson .Paak and he sadly overshadows Mac Miller here. Mac isn’t bad, and I think the point is that he’s not as smooth as he thinks he is. But even still, I tune out whenever he comes on, and I know Mac could do better even with the same production (7.3)Overall Score: 33
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Tanooki)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This was better than I expected! The rapping is generally good, and I enjoy Morray's chorus (7)
District: (7.2)
Geometrical: Eh... I like some of J. Cole's older stuff but this is pretty meh (6.5)
Mayman: J. Cole is always hit or miss for me but I enjoy this one. The chorus and 21 Savage's verse are the best parts of the song. (7.6)
Overall Score: 28.3
A weaker leg overall for you two, but you're still in it. You'll get a +0.2 bonus next leg

Barely avoiding elimination is...14. The 17 Year Olds (@trilogy & woods )Overall Score: 61.9 | Detour Rank: #12 | Roadblock Rank: #14 | Bonus From Last Leg: +2.4Detour Results:
(Color Mixer)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: One of the better smash hits from last decade. The chorus is such an ear worm - but in a kinda funny way. I probably know like half the words at most but I know the tune for it like the back of my hand (9.2)District: (8.3)Adrian: I fear this song's fate knowing how a particular judge here feels about it. I always found interesting how this became such a massive hit. Easily one of the best songs of that year. Great production and I've just always loved how Sam Smith sounds here. Probably the biggest highlight in their career and the song is just a jam all around! (6.6/7 quality + 3/3 theme = 9.6)Drem: ...this….isn’t….as good as the other songs (4.5)Overall Score: 31.6 Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Woods)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I loved WAP, but I can't say Up connects with me in the same way. It goes a little too far past the "provocative and enjoyable" zone and more into the "basically just annoying" zone. (5)District: the chorus is so catchy here, I listen to this a lot more than I'd like to admit haha. (8.5)Geometrical: Cardi B on autopilot. Beat is interesting at times. Chorus mildly annoying. It's okay, I guess (6.6)Mayman: This song is pretty good. It's one of her most catchy singles to date and not nearly as polarizing as "Please Me" or "Press". (7.8)Overall Score: 27.9
A weak leg from you two, but because of your bonus from last leg you squeaked by. No bonus next leg but you're still in it.
And sadly being eliminated is...
15. The Real Housewives of Pulse (Crimsonio & walt91 )Overall Score: 60.8 | Detour Rank: #15 | Roadblock Rank: #12 | Bonus From Last Leg: +1Detour Results:
(Smaller Fixture)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I can see why this one flopped. It's perfectly pleasant to listen to but it feels kinda hollow (7.5)District: (8.8)Adrian: I've never heard this song before, so I won't argue about the theme haha. The song is kind of good-ish, but I find it pretty weak compared to Madonna's best work. This just doesn't blow me away. (4.6/7 quality + 3/3 theme = 7.6)Drem: Again, if I was a bigger Madonna fan, I’d probably have more of an emotional connection with this. The groove is nice but sounds like she’s coasting (6.2)Overall Score: 30.1
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Crims)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I remembered disliking this song, and while it's not the best thing I've ever heard, it works for what it is! Doja and Saweetie are both fun, and the chorus is well done (7.8)
District: (8.3)
Geometrical: Not terrible but highly derivative (6.3)
Mayman: This song is decent. It's probably my least favorite song here, but I listen to it every now and then. (7.3)
Overall Score: 29.7
Unfortunately, mediocre performances across the board for you two sent you to the bottom, and I'm sorry to say that you have been eliminated from the race. Thanks for playing!

Challenge #1: Detour
What is a detour? In these challenges, two themes will be available, and teams will choose to send a song for the one they feel more confident in. Be sure to specify which theme you are sending for!
Detour Themes Quick Pace or Warm Embrace
Quick Pace: Mercury has the fastest orbit of any planet in the solar system, making a full rotation in just 88 days! For this detour, you must send a song that has a bpm (beats per minute) greater than 150.
OR
Warm Embrace: Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. For this detour, you must send a song that is a collaboration between two artists who were or are known to be romantically involved. (Singer/songwriter combos and bands count)
Challenge #2: Roadblock What is a roadblock? In these challenges, only one member of the team can come up with a song to send. No consulting. You'll be on the honor system here. Send in your group pm who will do this road block. They will then without consulting their teammate see the theme and send the song in individual pms. tl;dr only one person sends a song, pick who that is in the group pms, then and only then they see the theme.
Challenge #3: PAR WarsWhat are the PAR Wars?
PAR Wars is a brand new type of challenge as we traverse the universe! In these challenges, you must either choose to send a song for "The Light Side" or "The Dark Side". If you send a Light Side song, your goal is to send the best song possible. If you send a Dark Side song, your goal is to send the worst song possible (scoring will be inverted here, so a 0/10 becomes a 10/10). However, the theme for both categories is the same, and you don't get to see the theme until you lock in whether you'll be doing The Light Side or The Dark Side.
Consult with your teammate and get your songs in within 36 hours or else your team will NOT have a song in that category and will get an automatic 0/10. Feel free to ask Nick and District any and all questions you may have. The universe is waiting for you. Travel safe. Go!
