Inspired by popmusiccritic 's polls battling different Ariana Grande albums, I thought it would be interesting to do a similar thing with the debut projects of the original pop princesses, especially given how both are structured quite similarly. Hope you have fun!

I voted Britney for all except "Somebody's Somebody" and "Obvious." Both of these albums are two of my favorites, though.

Britney had the edge on singles for me, but Christina had the more even album overall. Better album cuts (or at the very least, album cuts that were not so blatantly low-effort filler). This thread just reminded me how much I loved Love For All Seasons lol. I was such a cheese queen back in the day. You can tell that they were definitely aiming for r&b-lite/adult contemporary with Christina before having to take a left turn to bubblegum pop with the singles though. It's an interesting contrast in retrospect.

Xtina for all, easily. Her debut album is overall the strongest of the two. I don't consider ...Baby One More Time to be one of Britney's best. I only like the singles from that album.

Britney had the edge on singles for me, but Christina had the more even album overall. Co-sign. Both brought it tf on with their singles game in their respective debut eras, but Christina has a few non-single highlights ('So Emotional' and 'When You Put Your Hands On Me') that edge Britney out (for the record I don't like either album that much as a full piece, I just take the singles from each and select album tracks).

I have suuuuuch a soft spot for I Will Still Love You That bridge served: Time may take us apart, that's true But I will always be there for you You're in heart, you'll in my dreams no matter how many miles between I promise you that I won't forget the day we kissed or the day we met The sky may fall and the stars may too but I will... I will still.. loooove youuuuu
and then that deep moody "I'LL KEEP CAAAAAAALLLLLING!!! YeaaaaaHH." Britney gives. I'm dead.

It's such a sweet and wholesome tune, with both performers working very nicely together. It seems like the perfect tune to play at a teen movie or as a duet between the main couple. 🥰

Christina Aguilera by far. Both debuts are good but Christina's is a lot better singles and deeps cuts combined.

(You Drive Me) Crazy is better than Christina's career so.

Britney's debut is undeniable - particularly the 5 singles from it which were everywhere."Born to Make You Happy" and "Sometimes" are favourites of mine. The only Christina song I like from her debut is "Genie in a Bottle."

Britney has the better debut single, but that album aged pretty poorly. Christina’s singles are more memorable plus she also has “Reflection” on it which is iconic in the Disney cannon.

This pretty much confirms my original assessment. The singles are hard to beat on Britney's, but Christina has the better album. Like, I would listen to almost every album song on Christina's over Britney's album songs. I mostly agree with the voting assessment here.

Like, I would listen to almost every album song on Christina's over Britney's album songs. I mostly agree with the voting assessment here. I don’t know. You have Baby One More Time which is the most iconic. Sometimes, Crazy and FTBOMBH are just not songs you hear anymore today. I’d say for Christina, both Genie and What a Girl Wants are staples that aged well. Obviously both aren’t as iconic as BOMT but they have held up well on radio/streaming. I’d put COOB on the same level as “You Drive Me Crazy.” Forgotten today, but it’s a nostalgic hit. I Turn To You is basically non existent today like the rest of Britney’s singles off her debut.

BOMT, Sometimes, and Born to Make You Happy are the only songs I like from that album (although I prefer So Emotional to that last one and love Genie in a Bottle as much as BOMT). It's not my favorite of Christina's albums, but I still enjoy it a great deal. Somebody's Somebody is the only song I don't much care for; Love Will Find a Way is equally cheesy to that one, but at least the final chorus is worth the whole thing.

The first seven songs on Christina’s album are just phenomenal even though I love Sometimes.
