Stop trying to act like there's any other pick for Pop Girl of the Year besides Olivia. You made the thread, asking a question, and there's a unanimous answer. So far she is but there's 6 months left in this year.

Read my lips- There's 6 Months Left in 2021. what Leona darling, no one knows what the future holds so the question can only truly be answered based on the year so far. We can certainly speculate but it’s always going to be a guess until we’re closer to the new year.

what You can make that thread too! I’d say it’s kid laroi Actual it for going for It Boy: Morgan Wallen despite the blackballing still has the best selling album of the year so far, Bieber is having his best era since Purpose, Polo G is a dark horse, but if we want a newcomer and my pick: I'd say Lil Durk. Laroi has had one Top 10 hit but his album didn't move units. Durk meanwhile, ever since blowing thanks to Laugh Now Cry Later, has helped two Coi Leray and Pooh Shiesty gain hits by his feature, and has had two successful albums with The Voice and his collab project with Lil Baby. True, he hasn't had a Top 10 smash again but he's been making good business moves to sustain longevity That's an excellent and insightful answer for the It Boys of 2021 - well done! The point in bold in particular is a great argument in his favour - Roddy Ricch held similar power last year, and we know how Drake is known for giving hits to nobodies (or future hitmakers like Kendrick and The Weeknd) out of name recognition alone. I'd also give a honorable mention to Giveon as another break-out star - more in the dark horse category like Polo G. Underrated bop ❤

final verdict: Billie was the It girl 2 years ago, she had that different alternative type of sound. Not sure if she can get a big hit anymore. Olivia Rodrigo is the It girl of 2021 so far. Hopefully Billie can change her style a little bit.

We have NEVER seen chart domination to Olivia’s level ever. Easy choice.

Even with two months left, it's still pretty clear that the It Girl of 2021 is Olivia Rodrigo.

Olivia Rodrigo probably takes the crown, especially with the sustained success of "SOUR" and its singles so far. Dua Lipa's "Levitating" is having a fantastic run, and "Future Nostalgia" managed to reach a new peak one year after release, performing much better than it did in 2020. However, I don't feel she's at the centre of music discussion as much as last year, especially given the lukewarm reception to "We're Good". Finally, if I were to add a suggestion of my own, I'd bet on Doja Cat reaching further heights in 2021. From "Streets" getting a viral moment to "Kiss Me More" debuting in the top 10 and holding very steady since, it seems to me "Planet Her" is going to be a great era for her, potentially consolidating her place in the mainstream. I know it was to be expected to some extent, but I don't think anyone was predicting Doja to get 6 songs simultaneously smashing (half of them being non-singles) like she currently is. Since that post, "Need To Know" became the first solo rap song by a woman to crack the top 10 on Global Spotify, and "Woman" has reached the top 10 on several countries despite having yet to receive the single treatment. And let's not forget "Kiss Me More" still holding steady in the top 10 and making history as one of the most successful female collaborations of all time. Love to see a positive manifestation. ❤ (and of course, Olivia keeps killing it, and I can see "traitor" getting a music video eventually to reach new heights on the charts)

It wasn't ever up for debate. And the fact that there wasn't any direct competition this year (like Katy had Gaga and Rihanna, Ariana had Billie and Taylor) makes Olivia's lead ever more impressive. Doja is a respectable #2.

October update to my previous post lol:
WINNERS:
Yup, Adele's huge debut outpeaked Olivia but it seems like it's not gonna have the legs of Liv's biggest streaming hits, so unless Adele churns out a couple more #1 hits in quick succession 2021 is Olivia's year. No shade to Adele, everyone would love to reach the heights and audiences that she does...
Doja did amazing as well, the album served longevity and organic hits. Dua did well without actually having much new music. Billie did alright, although her singles didn't really live up to "bad guy" or "everything i wanted". I feel like those five acts are probably the top five biggest female acts this year.
Cardi, Ariana and Taylor kept doing their thing this year as well, but they were comparatively quieter than previous years, mostly because none of them had an actual new studio album to promote. Beyoncé got a few more Grammys without lifting a finger.
Megan thee Stallion had a good year. I would have liked to see one of her solo songs actually do as well as her collabs, but they pulled respectable numbers.
Lady Gaga and Kelly Clarkson continues killing it on other fields. Gaga's acting career is about to skyrocket if the Gucci film is good. KC's show is a natural pick to overtake Ellen's audience once she wraps her show.
Little Mix did alright with a few collabs, and actually started the year with another UK #1.
SZA. This was probably her biggest year yet? I wish she could have sealed the deal with an album release, but overall she did well.
I-... DON'T KNOW: Ava Max's career continues to be an enigma. I have no idea what will happen next for her. At the start of the year it was looking real good for her.
I'm concerned for Halsey. The album was good but it got little attention.
Camila Cabello is probably calling all available black rappers to see if she can reverse her current fortunes as well.
Shakira. The new single did poorly everywhere, which is not common for her.
Nicki Minaj. Probably safe to bet she's moving into legacy act territory, but she does so many collabs that one is bound to be a hit eventually.
Lizzo and Normani TBD when they release more stuff.
BAD NEWS FOR...: Lorde is done commercially imo, not that she cares.
I believe Demi Lovato is smart moving into TV because their music this year was overshadowed as well (not sure if it's fair to discuss Demi on a thread about Girls because they identify as non-binary).

It's moments like these where "manifest it, I finessed it" from Ari's "just like magic" lives rent-free in my head. 😄 I know it's silly, and Olivia was inevitably releasing a music video for the song, but still cool that it came out so soon. Shout-out to this post too for more pleasant instances of positive manifestation - pulsemusic.proboards.com/post/7949720/thread

Definitely Olivia, with Doja as a distant, but still impressive, second. The former started her career with a bang, the latter cemented hers.
I wouldn't count Dua because, while she did have a massive #1 YE hit, she was more of 2020's It Girl, with Levitating being a single from that era that had immense longetivity.

It was Olivia definitely. But to see so many female artists doing great was good and refreshing. Olivia, Adele, Dua, Taylor and Doja all slayed 2021 in my opinion.
