The term 'one hit wonder' is pretty universally known, however these days I feel like less and less artists fit that narrative. Usually you can debate an artist have one or two other *minor/moderate* hits, so I believe 'one year wonder' is much more appropriate these days. Artists who approximately had a year of success before mostly falling off the map in mainstream musical relevance.
Who would you call a one year wonder?
Some of the more obvious ones: Fun. Iggy Azalea Fetty Wap Tove Lo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

One Year Wonders can also be named One Album/Era Wonders, since their success came from one project only.
For the Brits, two classic examples are Duffy ("Mercy" + "Warwick Avenue" from her debut), and MIKA (an incredible debut era spawning 5 top 20 hits - four being top 10, but then nothing else - sadly).

Daya.
I don't know if there's ever been an artist before or since whose only three charting hits to date all broke the top 30 and all made the same Year-End. I can't say that I'm happy she became irrelevant so quickly after 2016, as she has made a fair amount of good music since then that deserved some attention, but I won't say I'm sad about it either.

twenty one pilots, Taio Cruz & LizzoI think it's a bit too early to determine if Lizzo will end up as a one year wonder. She sadly hasn't taken much advantage of her newfound momentum to hop on high-profile collaborations, but I thought the same with Lil Nas X and he's doing great now. We'll only get a good judgment once she begins the rollout for her next album cycle. I really hope she proves us wrong, since her positive energy and amazing stage presence is much welcome in the mainstream. If she wants, I think she can break the one era wonder curse, especially now that female rappers are able to peacefully co-exist. 😊

As much as I hate to say this, 2008 Leona Lewis. Aaaah!! I said it. I'm talking about the Usa. She has had more success in the UK and Germany.

Daniel Powter the guy who sang the #1 hit, Bad Day. Maybe you could make a case for him in his home country of Canada (where fifth single "Love You Lately" actually reached a higher peak than "Bad Day"). Otherwise, he's just a one hit wonder, really.

He was probably bigger a hair over a year but Vanilla Ice. Actually he's a good example of this. In fall 1990 he was all the rage. In fall 1991 he released the film "Cool as Ice" and virtually nobody bought a ticket. (Though if we fast forward 30 years "Ice Ice Baby" is keeping him as a prominent camp/nostalgia figure, and he's also a successful real estate investor.)

Frankie Goes to Hollywood in 1984.
Here in America, they were a one-hit wonder for "Relax", but in the UK they were a phenomenon that year. "Relax" was #1 for five weeks, "Two Tribes" was number one for nine, and "The Power of Love" had the top spot for one week ("Do They Know It's Christmas?" truncated its chart run). Those first two singles are still some of the best-selling in British history.
All that success was contained to 1984, though. When they put out their fourth single in 1985 they daringly declared it to be their fourth number-one in its promotion, like it was a given. It made it to #2. When they came back with their second album in 1986, it flopped hard and the band was done shortly thereafter.

While more famous in Europe, the Bay City Rollers were big in 1976 but by the next year their US success was minimal.
Hanson in 1997
Milli Vanilli for obvious reasons.
Ashlee Simpson in 2004, again for obvious reasons.

The Chainsmokers? Maybe they lasted a bit over a year but they went from #1 contenders to Bubbling Under real quick.

Shouldn't that be 2008, which was the year of "Bleeding Love" and "Better In Time", her only major US hits to date? I'd put Jay Sean in mid-2009 to mid-2010, as that period included "Down" and "Do You Remember?" (yes, and that's about all anyone remembers) Ashanti was everywhere in 2002 and part of 2003, but her second album released in mid-2003 faded pretty fast after a strong start and of course she never recovered her previous momentum.

Wait... Timbaland? Really? Pretty sure he’s produced at least 40% of all 2000s bangers.
Anyways, I’d have to add Jordin Sparks, who had about a billion hits in 2008, and then just... nothing after Battlefield. Not sure if American Idol alums should count, though.

Terence Trent D’Arby in 1988 - "Dance Little Sister", "Sign Your Name", and Wishing Well" all charted that year.
Another Bad Creation in 1991 - "Iesha", "Playground" (Not sure if any two-hit wonders should be in consideration.)
Fun Factory in 1995 - they had three hits that year and vanished: "Close To You", "Wanna Be With U" and "Celebration" though the last one was more of a minor hit.
Real McCoy in 1995: "Another Night", "Run Away', and "C'mon and Get Your Love" were hits nationally also the first track is from 1994. From a local perspective, they had additional songs that I often heard on B96 (then a dance-rhythmic Top 40 station) growing up in the Chicago area, like "Operator", "Automatic Lover", and "If You Should Ever Be Lonely" but they weren't pop hits nationally. Real McCoy came back in 1997 but their single "One More Time" wasn't a hit nationally (although it did get a lot of airplay on B96 in my market).
Quad City DJs in 1996 - "C'mon and Ride the Train", "Space Jam"
Wild Orchid in 1997: They had two hits "Talk To Me" and "Supernatural". The only member of the group that would have later success was Fergie after she joined the Black Eyed Peas.
Vengaboys in 1999 - "We Like To Party" is the song they are best known for but they also had two other club hits that year: "Boom Boom Boom Boom" and "Up & Down".
Sisqo in 2000 - As far as his solo career goes and not counting his songs as a member of Dru Hill. "Got To Get It", "Incomplete" and obviously the "Thong Song". He was also the featured artist in Lil Kim's "How Many Licks" and DMX's "What You Want" that year as well.
Big Tymers in 2002 ("Still Fly" & "Oh Yeah")
Pretty Ricky in 2005 ("Grind With Me", "Your Body")
== I can think of several two-year wonders but not any more one-year wonders == Men At Work in 1982/1983 ("Who Can It Be Now", "Down Under", "Overkill") Seduction in 1989/1990 ("Two To Make It Right", "You're My One & Only True Love", "Heartbeat". "Could This Be Love") Black Box in 1990/1991 ("Strike It Up", "Everybody Everybody", "I Don't Know Anybody Else") Corona in 1994/1995 ("Rhythm of the Night", "Baby Baby') AZ Yet in 1996/1997 ("Hard to Say I'm Sorry", "About Last Night") Mase in 1997/1998 ("Feels So Good", "Tell Me What You Want" w/Total", the featured artist in Brandy's Top of the World", Puff Daddy's "Been Around the World" & "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down", & Notorious BIG's "Mo Money, Mo Problems" He tried a comeback years later with "Welcome Back" but didn't make much impact) Robyn in 1997/1998 with "Show Me Love", "Do You Know What It Takes", & "Do You Really Want Me (Show Respect)" (Don't think she had another American pop hit after 1998) Inoj in 1997/1998 ("Time After Time", "Love You Down") Blaque in 1999/2000 ("808", "Bring It All To Me", "I Do") LFO in 1999/2000 ("Girl On TV", "Summergirls") Vitamin C in 1999/2000 ("Smile", "Friends Forever (Graduation)") 3LW in 2000/2001 ("No More", "Playa's Gon' Play", "I Do") Chingy in 2003/2004 ("Right Thurr", "Holidae In", "One Call Away" "I Like That" w/Houston)

Solo Fergie. She was huge in 2006-2007, but every other solo venture of hers underperformed.

Specifically speaking US, would Ricky Martin be considered one? I guess it was more like two years, but his first English album (self-titled) was huge, but Sound Loaded was a pretty big disappointment commercially, despite having two hits, and I don't think he's had any US pop success since.

Solo Fergie. She was huge in 2006-2007, but every other solo venture of hers underperformed. True. I feel like the huge success and unavoidable public burnout for The Black Eyed Peas (which happened after The Dutchess) was the nail in her coffin as a pop star. Kinda crazy how things happen like that, and makes you wonder how she would have faired if she hadn't done any more albums with the Peas, and just continued as a solo artist since her solo debut. Hard to be mad at or regret all of the late 00s success with BEP, but I imagine she must think about the what ifs.

Not really. They have has a lot of solo and group hits since then. I wouldn’t lump them in with the rest.
