Their last album debuted at #2 with 122k (94k pure) units so yeah, this is a huge dropoff.

Pop radio should take notes.

Thank God tour bundles can no longer save face for some of these artists.

Their music (M5) has become same-ish, especially in the past few years.
Pop music has essentially taken the backseat, and that is more prevalent today than at any point this century...

The Karens have finally abandoned M5. The album is pretty terrible so I don't mind. It managed to have even fewer standout moments than their last album which had fewer moments than their last album so they were going to get here at some point.

I'd say pop music is actually recovering. Most of the biggest hits of 2021 are pop. Even if we exclude radio, the three biggest songs of the year in terms of units sold (Drivers License, Levitating and Save Your Tears) are all pure pop songs

Happy for Polo if this holds. He deserves this success after he was wrongfully arrested overnight. #FreePolo
Also lol @ Maroon 5 flopping, this is all the more proof that they exist for the sole purpose of pushing singles to radio on name recognition alone at this point. They're not gonna go away like most of us want them to, but I'm always grateful for small victories.

I think Migos will end up taking the #1. Polo has been bleeding streams on AM while Migos are only gaining, they already have the #1 album over him on there. I'm not sure why they projected him so high when he wasn't doing that well to begin with, but his final numbers will almost definitely be much lower.

I think Bo's estimate is wrong. I doubt he's getting that much streaming. Plus, the album was self-released.

Migos' album replaced Polo G's album at #1 on US Apple Music but they're both bleeding streams. Polo G is losing streams a little faster but still. If HDD's initial projections weren't overestimated, Polo G would have to lose a lot more streams while Migos gained a lot more to close the gap since both albums are projected to pull less than 10K units in pure sales. Either way, I think it'll be close.

Either way, I think it'll be close. You're right, I hadn't noticed that while a lot of Migos's songs increased, a lot of them towards the end also declined heavily. So they probably cancelled each other out. Still though, I'm pretty confident in saying HDD totally botched this one and the #1 will be very competitive this week between Culture 3, Hall of Fame, and SOUR. I'm rooting for Culture 3 personally but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a complete toss up.

Thank God tour bundles can no longer save face for some of these artists. And this is important to keep in perspective. Not saying M5 aren't declining in popularity, (and I don't remember exactly and wasn't able to determine doing a quick search) but I imagine the 122k opening of Red Pill Blues must have had a tour bundle, as did almost all major pop acts before that practice was banned (and at a time when it was possible to schedule tours anyway), including all our faves on here such as Ariana, etc... So it's not an apples to apples comparison.

Wow at Maroon 5's decline. Not sure if it's anything indicative in the long run but let's enjoy the little wins. I didn't realize M5's album was coming out this week and apparently no one else did either Radio constantly bombards its listeners with their songs. If people wanted to know if/when they were dropping a new album, they would know.

With the incredible word of mouth for Bo Burnham’s special I could see his album passing Maroon 5 in the final numbers

"Memories" is technically the lead single but it's also a 2019 song. The single after that flopped and the Megan Thee Stallion collaboration is doing alright, but towards the lower end of their usual results. Without a tour bundle, what's the incentive right now for people to care about this album?

While culture 3 is leading on AM, seems like polo's album is leading on spotify. It's gonna be extremely close, considering the fact that the migos will get a few thousand more pure sales from itunes and sales from tracks also performing better on itunes. But then again, olivia is pretty steady on AM and will prolly end up on top for spotify for the week. Migos deserve the top spot this week though, that's for sure. Rly wonder what's gonna happen...

Actually curious to see how high Bo Burnham can get since he already debuted at #116 on Billboard.

Not mentioned, but I'm interested in seeing where the In The Heights soundtrack will debut at. Can it manage to be in the top 20?

hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=326915&title=TOP-20%253A-POLO-MATCHTuesday, June 15, 2021 TOP 20: POLO MATCHThe top of our chart has tightened considerably since the weekend. Based on day-over-day sales, we’re still giving the edge on #1 to Polo G, but Migos are within striking distance. The last spot in this week’s Top 10 is also up for grabs as four acts—Wolfgang Van Halen's Mammoth WVH, Maroon 5, Dua Lipa and comedian/filmmaker/actor Bo Burnham—vie for the last two slots. Should the rankings remain as listed, Interscope will have half the Top 10, while Republic looks good for seven of the Top 20.
