A recent transmitter fire has forced WONG (licensed to Canton, Mississippi) to go off-the-air. Its owner, Marion Williams (of Gary, Indiana), has already filed for a Notification of Suspension of Operations and a Request for Silent Special Temporary Authority with the FCC (Williams requested six months).
The station's FM translator, W288DU (105.5), is expected to be silent as well.
THE STATION'S TRANSMITTER CAUGHT ON FIRE AND IS COMPLETELY BURNED UP. THE LICENSEE PLANS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMITTER. THE LICENSEE RESPECTFULLY REQUESTS SILENT AUTHORITY FOR 6 MONTHS.
WONG (Soul 1150?): classic soul; urban gospel silent (for now)
