So we got some pretty cool real music sounding alternative jam here. Has some Killers vibes. I love the continuous wave of guitars this rides on.

The more I listen to this, the more I fall in love with it. It has an anthemic quality to it, but has some of the understated, almost spoken word-esque delivery Fontaines DC is known for, just presented in a more melodic way. There is a reflective, almost hopeful mood to this one, the kind of theme U2 used to churn out organically back in the 80's and 90's.
It's a beautifully written song - Warner must really think they have a winner to try Alt with it. I sincerely hope it winds up being one.

This is good, but I wouldn't put it among their best. It's no Atlas Drowned, but it's good to have new music from them. An appearance on the alt chart would be sick

this track doesn't grab me like magnolia or let me down easy but gang of youths are probably my favourite of the current aussie alt rock groups so i'm glad to see them having overseas success

These guys have not disappointed me yet. This should absolutely make my chart this week as I listen to new songs today. Great stuff.

Hopefully the rest of alt actually jumps on this and it isn’t another one week wonder like Japanese Breakfast. Would like that.

This is really good. Reminds me of The National.

I like this. I agree with the U2 comparisons.

Hopefully the rest of alt actually jumps on this and it isn’t another one week wonder like Japanese Breakfast. Would like that. I have a feeling this will perform better than her. Japanese Breakfast is signed to Dead Oceans, which is an independent label under the Secretly Group umbrella, along with Jagjaguwar and Secretly Canadian. They don't have as much reach compared to the big labels like Republic, Interscope, Warner, Atlantic, RCA, etc. Dead Oceans' biggest success has been in non-commercial AAA radio, and they have hit Mediabase's top 20 only three times thus far. ("New Birth in New England", "Kyoto" and "Be Sweet") "Kyoto" has fared the best longevity-wise thanks to its brief resurgance on alternative this year. Gang of Youths are now signed to Warner, so they have a bigger promotion, and unlike Japanese Breakfast, have an alternative impact date.

This is a really good song. Gives me Interpol vibes with roaring guitars, killer bass and strong emotive vocals. They also dropped a surprise 3-song EP, total serene, today. From Paste: total serene features “the angel of 8th ave.,” a cover of Elbow’s 2002 tune “asleep in the back” and a new original song, “unison.” It’s “unison” that “signposts Gang Of Youths’ future,” as a press release puts it—programmed drums, banjo backing, strings, horns, synths and samples of indigenous Pacific music all unify around a lovely melody, combining sweeping scope with intimate emotion.

I'm thinking based on its recent movements, it will be this year's System Only Dreams. And it is completely deserved.

This got absolutely wrecked, unfortunately. Exacerbated on AAA by all the new releases. It never re-entered Billboard Alt.
17 33 GANG OF YOUTHS the angel of 8th ave 194 329 -135 0.237
35 41 GANG OF YOUTHS the angel of 8th ave 247 320 -73 0.214

Despite that terrible showing I feel this song might actually be one of the Top 10 songs for our own PULSE AAA RD
