Good but a step down from Ocean.
"Talk Of This Town" - I would've swapped the order of this and the title track; it's a bit of a downer for being the opening track - 7/10 "What a Song Can Do" - I love this! Nothing revolutionary but it feels like classic Lady A with the three-part harmonies and strong melody - 8.5/10 "Like a Lady" - This definitely grew on me. The chorus is a tad overbearing but the production (read: fiddle) is good - 7.5/10 "Things He Handed Down" - A nice ballad, maybe a little boring but the chorus & harmonies are ear candy - 8/10 "Fire" - Sounds like a Heart Break reject. I'm not feeling it right now, maybe it'll grow on me - 7/10 "Chance of Rain" - Battling with the title track for my favorite on the album. Has that '70s rock vibe that made their debut album (and Golden) so special - 9/10 "Worship What I Hate" - This album's "Ocean" moment. Different subject matter but it feels like a bit of a retread. I like it though - 8/10
My rating: 7.9/10

This "album"/EP is honestly fantastic. Ocean was a really great return-to-form for them, and this project definitely feels like an extension of that record. All these songs feel very fresh and I'm digging the whole thing.

I am first and foremost glad they are continuing with their Ocean-era sound, which is really just a continuation of the sound that made them who they are. "Worship What I Hate" is a showstopper. It punches you right in the gut - the hook literally made me pause the song and re-listen to the entire chorus over again. And, I'm SUCH a sucker for a long outro especially at the end of an album.
I love this project. It is certainly not a feel-good summer EP (minus the single) but I am very much looking forward to whatever chapter 2 looks like.

Omg did this project not chart??? Seems like it. The other two debuts on top 50 (accessible on Billboard website) are Upchurch - Same Ol Same Ol (#29) and Home Free - Land of the Free (#40).

That has to be a mistake... I know album sales are pretty much nonexistent these days, but there is no way that a Lady A album release would be beaten by Upchurch and Home Free If it was though, that is.....embarrassing to say the least!

It doesn't seem like a mistake. I finally found a place where it charted and it's Top Current Album Sales at #72. Home Free is #18 and Upchurch is #29, FYI. I think this only has a digital release.

I found a chart that shows it as the #1 country album lol. www.officialcharts.com/charts/country-artists-albums-chart/ PopVortex has it as #16 on the iTunes country album chart. But even as digital only it still should have done much better.

The UK market for country albums are so small, a #1 isn't all that worthy. iTunes sales are so low that it probably is just barely scrapping 1k weekly sales there. Eric Church's Soul is above this EP, and with decent streams from Hell of a View, but it's not in top 50 Billboard's Country Albums chart.

I was happily surprised by this project(album/EP)from Lady A.I liked it because they didnt step away from the sound they came back on "Ocean" although the previous album is better...these news songs are going to grow on me.
