And there we have it folks! There really was little to no competition for the top spot as "I'm Gonna Be Somebody" proved to be a reckoning amongst the rest of his discography. Once it took hold of the #1 position it would remain as such for the remainder of the rankdown. All but one participant placed this outside of their top 10 with the majority of those all coming from within the top 5. Congrats go out to both gardyfan and castleoblivion26 for a perfect ranking! I very easily could've placed this at the top of my list as well, but in the end I opted to go with "Here's a Quarter" as that is the song that song that first introduced me to his music as a young boy. It shouldn't come as a surprise that "Anymore" was another top-tier song as it's one of Travis's signature hits. Even still, it was mostly only a top 3 contender for the much of its run and was only able to sneak into the runners-up spot in that final moment with that bottom 5 ranking from .indulgecountry for "Tell Me I Was Dreaming". However, much like our winner, all but one participant placed this outside of their top 10 with both castleoblivion26 and bboat11 placing it as their #2 song.

I'd like to thank all of the participants and those that followed along the way! I also want to thank everyone for their patience as this was initially launched to coincide with the release of Tritt's latest album, Set In Stone, last summer. However, the due date just never seemed to come at the right time and it took until the turn of the new year to finally get the ball rolling on this. Anyways, I had a lot of fun going back through his catalog as his music as been right there with me along the way since I was a young boy. Like many artists to come out the '90s, many of his songs are the "soundtrack" to my youth and will forever be intertwined with those memories.
Thanks again y'all and have a great week!

"I'm Gonna Be Somebody" was one of my favorites from when I was a kid and one of the earliest country songs I can ever remember liking. Glad to see it win here. "Anymore" is a phenomenal song that would have been a worthy #1 though, and I'm happy it came in at #2.

"Tell Me I Was Dreaming" is criminally underrated and just might be a contender for my #1 once we get to the '95 rankdown.

Overall I don't have too many complaints for how this played out!!! The top 10 was more or less perfect, other than "Tell Me I Was Dreaming" and "Help Me Hold On" both deserving to do better (even though one still managed to make the top 5, so yay!) "Tell Me I Was Dreaming" is just such a unique song. I find it captivating with the soft, smoky verses and its minor key, all suddenly leading into that explosive rocking chorus! I imagine this one was quite a rocker back in the day when he was still performing to huge arena crowds! "Here's A Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)" obviously deserved to do as well as possible in this thing, although for me the hook has become so iconic that it is a little on the campy side after hearing it so many times. Hence me only ranking it in the 20s. No complaints about how well it did though, as it's obviously one of his iconics! Speaking of campy....."It's a Great Day to Be Alive" is campy to the max, and yet that somehow doesn't make it any less of an awesome listen! The only thing wrong with this song is that it was overplayed as fuq, but even that doesn't change how awesome it is. The melody gets in your head and never lets go! I would have rather seen "Anymore" win, because of the top two it is the one that is more of an experience. It never gets old, and I LOVE the way this song builds from a soft, introspective ballad to a rocking power ballad, with both halves being equally amazing! Travis' voice is perfect for this song, and it's definitely the first song I think of when picturing his "best" vocal performance. That being said, "I'm Gonna Be Somebody" is also amazing. The early '90s saw a string of songs about younger artists who aim to make it big, and they were pretty much all really good! It's pretty ironic that this song, as well as Alan's "Chasing That Neon Rainbow", would both be included so early in their respective artists' careers, because there was absolutely no guarantee when they recorded those songs that they themselves were going to become stars. To record them, and release them as singles, takes a LOT more balls than most of us would perceive nowadays now that we know that they did in fact become huge stars John Anderson's "Hillbilly Hollywood" is another personal fave relating to that same theme, although he was a bit more established by that point. Thanks for hosting tim !! I knew this would be a great one to do eventually, so I'm glad it finally happened!

I imagine this one was quite a rocker back in the day when he was still performing to huge arena crowds!Speaking of, the one and only time I've ever seen him live was way, way back in the summer of 1993 when he was headlining with Trisha Yearwood and Little Texas opening. I remember it being so rowdy that when I attended another concert at that same venue the next summer they had much tighter security protocols in place. Why I even remember this is beyond me, but security mentioned something to the fact that Tritt's show had caused such a disruption and got so out of hand that they had to clamp down to prevent something like that from ever happening again .
