She is REALLY coming for a Grammy eh? Lol *GRAMMY nomination. She has yet to receive one for her own work, as her first three studio albums have all been snubbed. So I'll gladly take a nomination. She doesn't have to win. A nomination will be a win at this point.

It didn't flop though. It peaked at no. 2, has over 3B Spotify streams, is nearing multi platinum eligibility, and is still charting 80 weeks after release. That's actually a really successful album. Eh, the vast majority of the streams are coming from Without You and other tracks/remixes being tacked on in a rerelease. That being said, I do agree it isn't a flop album. Not wildly successful though. Sort of somewhere in between. Remove Without You, which did come over a year before the album, and you've got two mildly successful singles (Graveyard & you should be sad) and a handful of tracks that made a bit of noise in niche groups. Like I said, definitely not bad and not a flop, but its stats are very much inflated by the massive single one year prior and excessive bonus tracks of said single's remixes plus Be Kind. I honestly feel like hopeless fountain kingdom made more noise and impact overall simply because Without You feels so far removed from Manic. It is a shame, too, because the album has some really great gems on it. In a different universe, 3am and Alanis' Interlude were hit singles along with Graveyard and especially you should be sad being at least as successful as Bad at Love/Now or Never instead of limping their way to their moderate peaks. I have noticed they've streamed decently well comparatively, though, so perhaps given some time she might be able to land a second classic from the album that actually feels like it's from the album and not just added for extra padding (*cough* Without Me *cough*). Even without Without Me, the album still has almost 2B streams, and its debut was fuelled by huge pure sales, which again weren't affected by Without Me's presence. I get your point though, Without Me does make it feel bigger than it is. I will never get why You Should Be Sad and especially Graveyard underperformed. I find them to be gorgeous songs, especially the latter. In fact even Be Kind and Forget Me Too also underperformed, which makes no sense to me personally since they're some of the best collabs she has ever had. How did pop radio let the G-Eazy song go to no. 1 and not these? Kinda worried she might not launch any hits this time, especially since her momentum has been stalling out since 2019.

She had a concert ticket bundle and merch bundles with Manic. That's not a possibility anymore so I won't be setting the bar too high for this new album's opening week. There's absolutely no way she's doing 180k pure sales. "Graveyard" underperforming was such a tragedy. Would have been one of my favorite hits of 2019.

We give a lot of respect to Demi, let’s try and make sure we’re referring to Halsey correctly too! I just learned their pronouns, and saw that most of us in this thread might not know either! different situations. Demi Lovato came out as non-binary and explicitly said they will use they/them pronouns moving forward. Halsey goes by she/they, and has explained that they're comfortable with either pronoun being used to refer to them.

I was today years old when I learned that she/they pronouns mean you need to refer to someone using both pronouns, rather than exclusively one or the other. http://instagram.com/p/CRnhK2IpPS_ I feel like a bad LGBTQ+ person for not knowing that and still being confused…

I'm sorry if I'm being ignorant but what does she/them mean? Is Halsey ok with being referred as a she and a them or does that mean they need to be addressed with both pronouns everytime (because that feels... redundant. Just go with they/them and call it a day? Maybe I'm missing something here).

Just go with they/them and call it a day? Maybe I'm missing something here). I thought it meant the person was fine with using both pronouns, but would encourage switching in conversation + when talking about them so they can see which one they feel best suits them. Some might eventually switch to they/them, while others keep it as it is. Of course, I'm taking an outsider's perspective here, so I welcome corrections from the non-binary users here. However, I too am confused by Halsey's comment, especially since using both pronouns on a written article can get confusing. It also lends the question on whether she would have objected if the article used they/them exclusively. Not to mention Halsey previously mentioned they were happy with either pronouns on Instagram Stories a while back.

While preferences differ for each person, generally when people use multiple pronouns, it is best to use them interchangeably unless they specify otherwise.
If she/they are stated as the pronouns of choice, then continuing to use she/her exclusively MAY be viewed as an erasure of one's expressed gender reality.

I always understood it to mean the person was okay with one or the other, rather than both being used in a single conversation or, in this case, article. I guess my question now is, is this common knowledge?

If she/ they are stated as the pronouns of choice, then continuing to use she/ her is an erasure of one's expressed gender reality. I don't know if this is necessarily accurate for all. It really depends on the beholder of the pronoun at the end of the day, but in my circles people generally operate under the impression that "she/they" means "she/her" are the person's primary pronouns per se, but they are comfortable with "they/them" as well (so they're interchangeable). I know several people who went from "he/him" to "he/they" to "they/he" to "they/them." I myself have followed a similar progression. (I don't mind "she/her" but I prefer "they/them.") Halsey explained earlier that they're comfortable with either she or they, which makes this whole thing all the more complicated. I'm all for more mainstream use of the gender-neutral they/them but this is all confusing. I'm sure we'll know more at some point but until we get more clarification, I plan on referring to Halsey with "they/them" pronouns. Their whole point is to be universal and used for people you don't know the correct pronouns for, anyway.

I guess I should clarify that it may be seen as an erasure if not used interchangeably, and that seemed to be Halsey’s sticking point, but, correct, this isn’t true for everyone. The learning curve continues.

One of the few things Demi got right recently was saying even they get their own pronoun incorrect sometimes and therefore, they extend grace. I feel like Halsey didn't have to take this route, especially if the writer chose one of their actual preferred pronouns, but yeah, to be on the safe side (because, let's be real, this is about respect and I can abide by that, at least), I will just refer to Halsey exhaustively by name, or by they/them. I personally struggle with the concept of pronouns, only because I feel like they still put people in a box, defined by their pronouns. But, I will call someone whatever the fuck they ask, out of respect for that person. That's really the only acceptable way to be.

Not really sure what sound I was expecting but that's not screaming the 'rock' sound we've been told we're getting. I was hoping for a more "Nightmare" sound but I'm still liking the snippets.

I'm liking what I am hearing so far and if Halsey's new album ends up sounding this good then I will totally be playing it on repeat. Oh and these two trailers are equally awesome!

What language is Ya'aburnee? Are they tryin' to say Ya ebony? LMAO.
Anyway, I decided on a whim to get a ticket for the IMAX showing of Halls' new musical film. I think it's going to be good, especially after I finally saw the trailer and heard the NIN-as-fronted-by-Halsey songs.
