Why Don't You Touch Me was the third release from Leon Bridges' third album Gold-Diggers Sound (which is honestly his best work yet and needs to be heard by everyone ASAP).
"Shout-out to the undefeated, badass songwriter Kaydence. This was a tune that we worked on remotely during the pandemic and just felt like it was a cool angle to write about love diminishing in a relationship from a man’s perspective. And just the crippling feeling of being physically close to someone but emotionally distant. It’s an angle that you don’t really hear often from a man’s perspective, and so that’s kind of the inspiration behind that." - Leon Bridges (Apple Music, July 2021)
In My Bag was a promotional release from Justine Skye's "bad bitch manual" a.k.a. her third album Space & Time. Her second indie release, the album was executive produced by Timbaland who reached out to collaborate after seeing a clip of her on Instagram singing Crosby, Still & Nash's Helplessly Hoping. She suggested doing a cover of Nelly Furtado's Say It Right; he suggested creating an original song and their virtual sessions became a weekly online drop that culminated in this full album.
The Shindellas are a Nashville trio brought together in 2018 under the guidance of Louis York (a.k.a. R&B producers Chuck Harmony and Claude Kelly) via their Weirdo Workshop - their Nashville-based label and music hub. Their debut album, Hits That Stick Like Grits, is set for release later this year.
Albanian-American singer-songwriter Njomza Vitia started her career in 2010 as the frontwoman for alternative band Scarlett. After they disbanded, her cover videos on YouTube led her to Mac Miller who signed her to his REMember Music imprint via Warner; she has since released three EPs, the latest - LIMBO - dropping last month.
If unfamiliar with her music, you may recognize her name from being one of the co-writers on 7 rings and thank u, next.
I'm kind of surprised We Made It...didn't make it (/corny puns), but then kind of not? I like the sound but with some of those lyrics it felt more salty than celebratory which kind of killed the mood she was going for.
I constantly find myself wishing I liked Justine Skye more than I do. I just cannot connect to her for some reason.

So I'll mention now that the only credited men I put in my top 10 were a feature and producers (and members of Hiatus Kaiyote if it counts). That wasn't even intentional, it just turned out that way lmao
