Bronx singer/songwriter Maxine Ashley first gained notoriety via YouTube covers and earned a deal with Pharrell's i am OTHER label at just 17; her debut EP, Mood Swings, was released in 2014. After the label was dissolved in 2017, she went to work behind the scenes as a songwriter, notably co-writing for Ariana Grande, and releasing indie projects. In 2021, she both co-wrote and featured on a track for South African house DJ/producer Black Coffee's Subconsciously album which won a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album.

Somebody Else, a clever take on The Jones Girls' 1979 hit of the same name, is her first release under JBR Creative Group, founded by R&B singer/songwriter/producer Eric Benét.

Sy Smith is a singer/songwriter/producer from L.A. by way of D.C. that earned her degree in psychology (minor in music therapy) from Howard University before pursuing a full-time career as a recording artist. After signing with Hollywood Records in 1997 only to have her debut album shelved and be dropped by 2001, she opted for the independent route and has spent the last two decades self-releasing music via her own Psyko! Records imprint and touring, both as a solo act and supporting vocalist for the likes of Sheila E., Chaka Khan and jazz trumpeter Chris Botti.

Slide is the lead single from her sixth album, Until We Meet Again, scheduled for release on January 26th, 2024.
