Forest Claudette is a non-binary, Australian singer/songwriter who started their recording career career in 2017 under the moniker Teddy Elk. After feeling pressure to have their music "mean more nd capture the nuances of the black experience which is really, really hard to do on a day-to-day basis", they adopted Forest Claudette in 2020 (an ode to both their childhood growing up in a forest and civil rights pioneer Claudette Colvin).
