BTW - I think y’all are really sleeping on 29 in Album of the Year.... you want to talk about critical acclaim for a mainstream album, it ranks amongst the top. It was easily in my top three when predicting nominees.

Does anyone think Ingrid Andress will get into New Artist this year? Gabby has one of the female slots, so that leaves one more. I feel like Mickey, Lainey and Tenille Arts are going to have better chances of the 2nd female spot over Ingrid :/

Sad but I really think Kelsea is going to get left out of female this year. Not because she hasn't had a great year, but because the competition is stacked and she is on that independent label with little to no award show pull.

Based on my early predictions, Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert would lead the nominations with 8 nominations each. I'm not really confident in some categories, but I do think Chris and Miranda leading nominations seems right!

Does anyone think Ingrid Andress will get into New Artist this year? Gabby has one of the female slots, so that leaves one more. I feel like Mickey, Lainey and Tenille Arts are going to have better chances of the 2nd female spot over Ingrid :/ Personally I feel like Tenille Arts is probably the most deserving name that you mentioned because of all the acclaim of her first huge hit plus her followup already starting to show promise that she might have potential to stick around moreso than any of the other new female acts. But I'd say Ingrid stands a better chance than either Lainey or Mickey. I may be totally wrong, but I feel like Lainey's big chance may come next year. "Things A Man Oughta Know" is still just at the bottom of the top 10, which means it is going to have MONTHS of heavy exposure during the next CMA eligibility period, plus the start of whatever her followup single is. Regarding Mickey, she had a ton of acclaim in early/mid 2020 from WAYGTH and BLM, so I think last year would have been her best shot. This year she's kept her name out there, but really all she has had is a flop single. I suppose with her new album coming out in a couple months she'll have potential to have a big year next year. But she's also basically 40, so she doesn't exactly have a huge mainstream career in her future, as much as we'd all like her to... Ingrid didn't have a huge hit this year either, but she is still riding the popularity from her breakthrough hit and has managed to keep her name out there, all while having modest radio success and critical acclaim. So I personally feel like Ingrid vs. Tenille is a pretty safe bet for the second female spot! Of course, we don't know for sure that Gabby will have a slot. Like, if she gets into FVOTY, could she even get a nomination for New Artist? I do feel like she is a safe bet for New Artist, but I don't know what the rules are regarding getting into both categories simultaneously.

I know Maren was nominated for both awards at her 1st CMA awards & ended up winning New Artist. That said, that was when there were fewer female competitors, but I don’t believe there has been a rule made where an artist can’t be nominated for both simultaneously.

Carrie Underwood won both New Artist (well, “Horizon”) and FVOTY in 2006. Not an unheard-of situation.
Anyways, Ingrid Andress deserves a nod in New Artist. She’s got somewhat of a leg up on others with that Grammy love in her corner.

I'm really interested in seeing what happens with Single of the Year. "Forever After All" and "The Good Ones" are locks because of their 3+ week reign at #1. "Die From a Broken Heart" should be nominated. Beyond that... it could really be anything. Maybe "Be A Light" because of all the features. I could see "One Night Standards" sneaking in there from the McBryde voters. I would hate to see two Luke Combs singles nominated but based on what's there, "Better Together" certainly fits in the top 3 or 4 hits of the year.

It was easily in my top three when predicting nominees. I agree. I think we are seeing an artist who is really about to become an awards favorite. Carly sure snuck in there, and I wasn't sure about her longevity there for a while, but after EVERYTHING going for her this past year - minus the radio single underperforming - I think we will see her in Female and Album. Huge.

I feel Chris will get both Song and Single noms for "Starting Over" and personally I'm confident in Lee Brice scoring a nod for "One Of Them Girls" as that was a pretty big hit. I would really like to see "Famous Friends" get a nod, but I'm not sure how Chris and Kane are with voters.

One thing none of the other contenders can say they were a Best New Artist Grammy nominee!

Lol, looks like Garth is having a listening party of some sorts with Nashville industry folks, the same day the CMA shortlist is published.

Not sure if it’s an actual listening party or what, but clearly GB-related, and he’s shortlisted for EOTY. Even though he said he doesn’t want to be considered for the award anymore, nothing’s stopping them from nominating him again anyways. 🤷🏻♂️

EOTY final 15 is stacked, could be any combo of those names… In a just world, I’d go with:
Luke Bryan Luke Combs Eric Church Miranda Lambert Carrie Underwood
But… even though last year we had two female nominees, I think it’s a long shot to repeat that so between Carrie and Miranda I think the nod goes to Carrie. I also think Urban, Stapleton, Shelton, Aldean, Chesney, and Rhett all have a good shot at the category. Then of course there’s Garth, who has taken himself out - but that can’t stop voters from including him anyway.
Should be interesting, but everyone is fooling themselves if they don’t think Carrie should walk away with this one … for SO MANY reasons; this year’s accomplishments plus years of injustice, etc. Not saying she will, I don’t even feel great about her odds at a nomination. But in terms of who “should” win, it’s Carrie Underwood. Fight me.

I’m still trying to decide my predictions. I will say #CU4EOTY though OBVIOUSLY!! But I actually did think of something I wasn’t sure about. Was “Hole In The Bottle” submitted last year or did it get snubbed this year? That song came up in a playlist for me today and I started wondering about that. I thought it was a pretty good hit for Kelsea and am kinda shocked to realize it’s not on the shortlist for Single Of The Year. Any ideas y’all?

Am I missing something with Sam Hunt? I didn't necessarily think he would've made it to the final nominations on any given category... but at least a bit shocked he's out of the Top 15 in Male. What gives?

How is "One Night Standards" eligible? It was released during 2020's eligibility period.

How is "One Night Standards" eligible? It was released during 2020's eligibility period. It peaked at #7 on September 6th, 2020 on Mediabase, which makes it qualify for 2021 CMA Awards (which concerns about time of peak, not time of release)

Anybody heard any rumblings on the first day of second round voting?? From the people I’ve talked to, I just know Sony is pushing really hard for “Chasing After You”, so it doesn’t interfere with Maren’s solo stuff next year. Other than that, I’ve heard nothing.

Hell, there have been winners to do this. “Chattahoochee” and “When I Call Your Name” each won Single one year and Song the next year. Crazier than that “Always on My Mind” and “He Stopped Loving Her Today” both won Song 2 years in a row.

They clearly want this for her. Her team has never gone so far as to create a “highlight reel” before… fans have made them, but I don’t recall one ever coming from Carrie herself… well, her channel. I love to see it. Gives me a little hope!

Who are we thinking the hosts should be? I imagine Carrie still won’t be doing it this year (but do believe her and brad will do it again eventually). I think Kelsea is a good fit as she has a bubbly personality; I just don’t know who else would be a good fit.

^^ Honestly they oughta have her do it herself if they pick her to host. If Reba can host the ACMs by herself, Kelsea can host the CMAs by herself. She'd do a damn good job too.
