I hate how labels and estates milk posthumous releases until the act's vault is dry.
But I'd be lying if I said I'm not excited to hear this.

The potential of this is off the charts considering how much I love both of these acts. Canβt wait to hear it.

I really hope this isn't another mailing off a late rapper moment cause those are becoming more and more frequent and blatantly disgusting cashgrabs.
Otherwise I'm interested in hearing what this will be like

I hope the same who insulted Maroon 5 for "gravedigging" doing the same for Dua Lipa.

I hope the same who insulted Maroon 5 for "gravedigging" doing the same for Dua Lipa. I don't like this scenario either, but at least it's Pop Smoke's album & it's his estate that's milking his material. Surely jumping on it is Dua's choice, but the estate would have gone ahead and found a different singer had she turned down the offer (assuming they approached Dua and not the other way around). This is not as opportunistic as having 2 dead rappers on your album for clout. It is still opportunistic though. Anyway I'm baffled by this collaboration and curious to hear what it sounds like. Not going to get my hopes up though.

If I was a recording artist I'd probably request a clause on my contract to prevent vault demos to be milked like this tbh. Very few feel deserving of the artist's legacy (I really liked "Higher Love" with Whitney and Kygo, and the MJ/JT song was decent).

If the album was basically done then I'm fine with it. A Dua collab doesn't sound like something he would do, but I'll be open minded.
This is technically the third album they've released since his death, because that deluxe of his last album was basically another album (and tbh was not nearly as good as the standard).

Oh is this being tacked on to Future Nostalgia? Future Nostalgia: The New Moon Edition coming to a streaming platform near you. It has this track tacked on. A deluxe version will be released 3 months later with that one soundtrack song she did a few months ago tacked on as well.

"Demeanor" has already picked up 1 Pop add, so I would assume it's getting pushed at the format and likely Rhythmic too although "Woo Baby (feat. Chris Brown)" picked up an add there.

That video proves at least pop smoke knew who she was lol, maybe they wouldβve worked togetherβ¦β¦???
Idk I want to have nice thoughts because his catalogue hasnβt been abused like X & Juice yet, but this isnβt the best look. Hrm

Apparently Pop Smoke wanted Bruno Mars on the track, but the label couldn't get him. This seems to suggest Dua hopped on the track posthumously, but I hope we get proper confirmation on the matter.
Also, someone on ATRL mentioned that the verses from Pop apparently belonged to a different song, which does leave a sour taste to me.

So a posthumous release is a rushed copy paste job from unfinished material? Shocking lol.

Gave it a listen. I'd like a few more repeats of Dua's part, kinda like how a lot of rappers used Rih for a killer chorus back in the "Live Your Life" days; not sure if it's gonna be a hit, but I found it listenable in spite of what we know or suspect of the track's creation.

Apparently Pop Smoke wanted Bruno Mars on the track, but the label couldn't get him. This seems to suggest Dua hopped on the track posthumously, but I hope we get proper confirmation on the matter. Yes, Dua got into the track posthumously after she was asked by his team to do so. However, BOZ (one of ATRL's insiders) mentioned that Nicki Minaj was originally going to be in the track too, but she stepped out of the song because she couldn't shoot the music video. Also, someone on ATRL mentioned that the verses from Pop apparently belonged to a different song, which does leave a sour taste to me. Based on the information which is posted on Genius, that's true. It's been said that Pop Smoke's verse was recorded to DMX's "Money Money Money", but it wasn't cleared by Republic Records (Pop Smoke's label) because they already were planning to use it on "Demeanor" and properly push it as a single.

Just heard this on 102.7 KIIS and then my local pop station played it right after. I think Dua really puts the whole thing together, which makes sense if Pop's verse is just copy-pasted from another song.
