Pretty self explanatory, what’s an artist past or present that you doesn’t have a number 1 that deserves it? There’s Dua Lipa which will probably be a popular one as well as J. Cole.

Aaliyah hit #1 with Try Again in 2000. Mya does have a #1 hit with Lady Marmalade in 2001, which was also co-produced by and includes uncredited vocals from Missy Elliott. Neither of them had #1 hits completely on their own, though.

Anything really. She just deserves a number one. Maybe “The Story” or the Grammy-winning “The Joke.”

It saddens me Demi Lovato is the only former Disney star from their era to not even have a top 5 hit to their name. Miley, the Jonas Brothers, and Selena all got #1s, and while I still hope right timing comes about for another "Cool For The Summer"/"Sorry Not Sorry" smash, it seems unlikely at this point. A real shame, since Demi is such a talented singer and has proven capable of delivering quality music time and time again.

I didn’t realize the thread had the subtext that a song needed to be close to number one. I thought “deserving” referred to artists we believed should be more known to deserve a number one, as in, our opinion. But if we’re this technical, none of the songs mentioned in this thread deserve to be number one because none of them had the chart points to ever do it either. 🤷♂️

One Direction... They were far less annoying than BTS. And their music wasnt as bad as many people judged.
They came close with Best Song Ever and Drag Me Down. But i imagine their reunion single would be their final chance for a no.1.

He has some really fantastic songs.

Demi is moving in the wrong direction commercially... but all it takes these days is hopping into some late run hit's remix. Miley just got a top 10 that way.
If Dua misses #1 with her next lead it might start to feel overdue for her.
It's weird that Shania's label never managed to get one for her. She was a huge deal.

James Brown not having a #1 is still weird to me. Just like Diana Ross not having a GRAMMY.
And Missy Elliott, seriously. So unlucky.
