All I can do is laugh at the clownery. And the way Billboard is just gonna be like "lol idk what happened, they fell 6 spots and then they SUDDENLY came back! Organically too!"

They're going to spin this as a record-setting return to #1.

It's BTS vs BTS at this point. They really are the music industry!

What are you gonna do when the world don't orbit around you? (please girl, don't create problems where there aren't any, don't care so much about other people's opinions, read, write, live on, don't let this board be some important place for your mental health - it REALLY shouldn't matter)
So I'm happy for ARMY having their couple of weeks of achieving crazy things but I'm looking forward to the times they're not pushing BTS to #1 with sales, for now do what you will there's nothing we can do anyways (except for pushing ARMY members on Twitter to buy even more copies because they don't like our attitude lmao)

Well Butter's pop scores prove once again, the public has spoken and doesn't want BTS. It doesn't matter if their singles are in english, the gp is just not grabbing onto BTS like these stans think. Gangnam Style is really the biggest K-Pop will ever be in the US, sorry but it's the truth. Not just BTS, the whole genre in general isn't gonna breakthrough with the general population. Kpop is an entire genre and only 2 groups can make an impact on the charts. And most of BTS’ English songs aren’t even that good. One song not picking up doesn’t mean the entire genre is doomed. I'd agree but kcdawg13 makes me inclined to agree with him as well… Itzy, Monsta X, TXT, Loona, and Twice have all had some sort of push in the past few years and only Blackpink, BTS, and Psy have managed to appear on the Hot 100 in the past decade, mostly because of their already-big fandoms that existed before this new North American push for Kpop started. Americans just don't like it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would like to understand how we managed to go from falling way short of the goal to us still not being rid of these f**kers.

I would like to understand how we managed to go from falling way short of the goal to us still not being rid of these f**kers. This isn't a good sign for Good 4 u, which may suggest a much bigger decline than normal this week. Even though I'm not an Olivia fan, I would have loved to seen G4u tie the Wrecking Ball record of a 9-week gap between weeks at #1. But maybe this is the start of the decline for G4u.

Shout out to “good 4 u”‘s ORGANIC chart success. A streaming, radio and sales smash. Charts can be manipulated to high heaven, but the reality is, one song will actually be remembered by the collective pop music conscience because they actually heard/listened to it, while the other is a coveted #1 song with a cringey footnote in the Hot 100 history books (for those that even pay attention to the charts). None of this tomfoolery makes Butter actually more popular than Good 4 u, nor is it making anyone fall in love with the song or BTS. It's given them some headlines, but for every headline, someone in the real world is scrunching their face in confusion because they've never even heard any of these #1 songs by BTS. Future fodder for the Forgotten Billboard #1s book, all of them. Edit: And I don't even mind BTS, not something I listen to a lot, but I get the appeal. It's the group's fans that have really done them a disservice in the long run, despite giving them multiple "#1" songs in the US.

I would like to understand how we managed to go from falling way short of the goal to us still not being rid of these f**kers. The buying group's predictions were relying on conservative estimates of the per order average based around their goals (which shifted from 12 copies of Butter to 16 once Permission to Dance had 12 potential copies itself). In actuality, the average appears to have been closer to 16.5, which suggests that a good portion of buyers were doing full 24 copy orders. As I said, the only thing that'll get them to go away is radio dumping the song, because they're already getting pushed to their limits with that safety buffer of over 20m AI.

I'm not condoning the behavior or wanting this to actually happen, but hypothetically, I am curious what would happen if some of these other large stanbases rallied to compete with the BTS Army. Not necessarily who would win, but how far would the Army go to ensure they win? And what effect, if any, would that kind of bonkers reality have on Billboard's current rules and/or chart formula.

i dunno if any of them really want to buy a bunch of copies of something they'll never use, week after week after week, just for charting purposes.
i'll buy taylor singles release week, but even those i don't listen to; i just stream or listen to my physical CD when i don't feel like streaming.

I'm baffled. Is butter going to be a 10 week long Number 1? When will it end. If i were BTS i'd release a new single every 6 weeks just to cause chaos.

I hate label politics but part of me is curious how the other major labels have been reacting to this whole ordeal. I just imagine Columbia celebrating and everyone else just watching them like 😐

I'm baffled. Is butter going to be a 10 week long Number 1? When will it end I'm afraid that it might very well spend that many weeks at #1. Whenever these Stans stop mass buying the same song over and over again. I’m starting to think this BTS run at #1 is somehow tied to One Too Many’s charting run. Maybe these BTS stans are waiting for OTM to go recurrent to stop the mass buying. But seriously, I think this will be the last week at #1 because I think Stay is taking over and will dominate the late summer/early fall.

A slow growth Keith Urban country song is tied to BTS "mass buying"
LOL - OK then

Gang I’m pretty sure he was joking in that one
Would be the actual funniest thing of all time if the army decided to keep Butter at #1 for as long as One Too Many’s charting tho I wouldn’t even be mad I’d be laughing too much, armys if you’re reading this (which knowing what happened last week you are) please consider doing that

Not necessarily who would win, but how far would the Army go to ensure they win? And what effect, if any, would that kind of bonkers reality have on Billboard's current rules and/or chart formula. I honestly genuinely contemplated a week or so ago what it might look like if all fanbases rallied together to support one song in sales (bc if you combined most of those fanbases together it really would only be individuals chipping in 4-5 bucks, if that much, vs the 10 or 20 or 50 that Army has to put in each week) but I let it go with the realization that most fanbases would never get past their own hatred for other bases/artists long enough to unite for a common goal. Like imagine Arianators and Swifties actually agreeing to do something together...lol. They'd just end up fighting bc the two closest options are another Swiftie or a Bieber song. (with that said I would absolutely support a one-week campaign for One Too Many to crack the top 40 so if y'all want in on that inbox me and let's do this lmao) And thus began the dark time known as the Stanwars. Every other k-pop standom already finds Armies mean and insufferable so these wars have been going on for awhile Genuine question here, how does BTS compare against other kpop acts on Korean charts? The noise they make online would have you thinking they're the most dominant group by a long mile everywhere, but I get the impression that they're really one of several more or less equally popular and well promoted groups in SK and they're just the one group that has a label interested in pushing for American coins.

Swifties and Beliebers aren't doing this shit because the acts don't need it to chart well. And like I said before (and that got me into Meg's twitter feed lmao), the BTS label is probably helping these shenanigans.
People in the UK did mass buy that Rage Against the Machine song once specifically because they wanted to stop the X Factor from getting the Xmas #1 a few years ago.
