To dislike Carrie is such a bad vibe. Sounds like the poster you're talking about actually likes Carrie, but is speaking some not so great POSSIBLE realities. I don't agree with them 100%, but them stating the facts that radio hits for women of a certain age are hard to come by is not disliking someone. It's sadly the truth. I actually think Carrie will have no problem getting hits for a few more years (#1's aren't a guarantee only because you never know what could block it, etc). And even if she doesn't, her legacy is secure. She will be releasing hit albums, selling out huge tours and still being a mainstay in the country music scene whether or not she has multiple week #1's. In my opinion though, not being able to take any criticism about your favorite artist is a bad vibe. lol guys come on, my post was tongue in cheek. Like, dislike, praise, or critique whoever you please. I was just trying to contribute to the high-level of discourse that was going down at the time. I’m well aware that no artist is perfect and music is subjective 😜 Do we think Carrie will have the top selling holiday album this year?

I hope Carrie Underwood releases a single next year that tops the chart for seven weeks, becoming her biggest hit chart-wise (seeing since Jesus, Take The Wheel ruled the roost for six weeks in 2006). Look at Reba McEntire. She scored her biggest hit 35 years into her career with Consider Me Gone in 2010 (four weeks at the top), so anything is possible. The reason Reba spent 4 weeks at #1 was because of the holiday slowdown. If it had during any other time of the year, she wouldn't have gotten more than 2 weeks tops.

Meh the general public is still fully behind CU despite her age. No other current female country artist is selling albums like she is. Look at My Savior’s sales. If she releases another radio friendly album (Cry Pretty was not in any way shape or form) then I have a hard time not seeing them send her singles up the chart like they used to considering how well she usually connects with the country audience and how many people want to hear her on the radio.
A big reason why she hasn’t topped BB in 5 years is unlike Elvie’s label, Carrie’s never goes all out with their push weeks (which it would make more sense for them to considering how much bigger she is than Elvie is). She always just gets the standard push week and usually once they secure mediabase they call it a day. Had she received push weeks similar to this song then Southbound, along with a lot of her other mediabase only #1s would top BB as well.

Lowkey I want the typo to stay because oh my gosh that just made my morning.
I will say, even with an Elvie type of push Carrie was ever gonna hit #1 with "Southbound", that was pretty much locked out as you can get, with both "Living" staying stagnant when Carrie pushed, and "Prayed For You" pretty much matching "Southbound" gains and keep in mind Carrie Underwood gained over 4 million in audience on Billboard which is even bigger than some of the latest pushes we have seen from latest singles from Lee Brice (3.8), Jameson Rodgers (3.2) on their push weeks and those pushes were also very huge, so there was nothing that was gonna get "Southbound" to #1 as they really pushed it to the brink during it's push week.

If they removed spins from Living and Prayed For You to make them crash like they did with IIDLY then there’s a good chance it might have.

Also I kinda like they don't go all out for Carrie Underwood push weeks as her legacy has already been pretty much cemented, and I wouldn't mind if other artists who are absolute tyrants in the genre that already have their legacy cemented throughout time (Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, etc) didn't try to hard to get the #1. If it gets to #1 great but at this point I don't think any new #1 is gonna greatly improve Carrie Underwood's legacy in the genre.

They could have for "Living" since Dierks and Carrie were on the same label, but "Prayed For You" was on a separate label (Soy) so there's pretty much no chance of Carrie passing that as they weren't gonna remove spins since I remember Sony wanted a multi week #1 for Matt Stell and his debut song.

raylatch98 at this point almost half the posts in this thread over the past 2 days are from you alone, so at this point I just feel like maybe you're doing too much, lol. You've definitely said your piece on this situation (which is valid) many times but it kinda just looks like you're camping out in here now when you're feeling the need to respond to almost every single post.

Will this be going #1? I may be on the fence about CU right now, but it'd be really sad to see this get blocked when reality is she won't have many more opportunities for #1 hits due to the sexism and ageism in country music.

Jaaon Aldean is the flagship artist of Broken Bow. I'd be surprised if this missed #1.

It will be number one after the coming week unless Fancy Like gets pushed to the moon.

Well I'm certainly expecting this song to spend at least 2 weeks at #1 on both Mediabase and Billboard.

Also on the other hand, I've started to feel this is a much stronger duet than Remind Me. I love RM, but there's something about IIDLY being ear candy.

Based on today's Building Chart update it appears the label will definitely be getting this to #1 on MB and BB this next week. Not sure if it can hold up against "Fancy Like" for long though, so I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up only getting 1 week at #1.
I was hoping for #1 on Billboard this week, but Elvie took it :/

I mean they are pushing this until early November so I imagine they can get a couple weeks at #1 out of this, but that's just me.

As of now, the label plans to have this pushed from now til November 1st, instead of all the way up to the 8th. New ad featured in Country Aircheck Weekly this week shows they are now pushing from now til November 1st for Maximum spins.

Hopefully they can get the next 2 weeks at #1. I think Mediabase is likely, but I could see Walker taking over Billboard in 2 weeks.

Officially #1 at country radio. Huge congratulations to Carrie Underwood for officially gaining her 28th #1 hit today. A true legend. (Congrats to Jason too.)

What has the record for most spins in a week? If they're going to manipulate the charts, they might as well ride the buzz to a record.
Lol at Elvie's song not even being top 10 this week.

I just looked at Mediabase myself and it is at #11. Double checked and the chart is set to currents.
