It’s about time! I really don’t know why the breaks were pumped on releasing this a few months ago (probably due to Sam Hunts label wanting his song to get up the chart a little I suppose), but this one feels like a hit and has been connecting great as well. Am excited to see how this goes over for her.

Along with "23" moving higher up the chart, maybe they feel like enough time has passed from Sam Hunt's DUI deal? But about damn time! I'm really hoping this can be a hit for Ingrid because I like what I've seen from her in terms of songwriting and would love to see her get more consistent success on country radio.

Really hoping this hits big, I love this song (and so does my husband, who pretty much hates anything in regular rotation on the Highway).

My favorite song from this year. I'll repeat others in saying it's about time! I was worried it wasn't going to be pushed and I'd end up hating Sam Hunt forever (whether it was the fault on his end or not 😂)

Yay! FINALLY. However, this is going to play out very similarly to "Drunk (and I don't wanna go home)" for me. Instant smash, and play the hell out of it, by the time radio starts playing it, I've waaaaayyy overplayed it. LOL
BUT I'm soooo happy for Ingrid that this is finally getting a shot. I have no doubt this will be a massive #1 hit in the peak of Summer. :)

5 adds this week. 7 total adds. Not too bad of a start coming off of a minor Top 40 hit! I'm very optimistic about this one and I think it has a good shot at being most added next week.

18 adds on add date with 25 total stations by add week. Not horrible, but a bit lower than I was thinking given how much buzz this song had and I really thought the 5 adds last week was setting it up for at least 30 to 40 adds this week. It's not awful, I just hope in the new year it gets more adds and is able to keep up

Seems a bit low to me. I wonder if it’s because we’re getting closer to the holidays or because they waited so long to release it. Hope it turns into a smash though, cause I think this is her best shot at another hit.

Hope it turns into a smash though, cause I think this is her best shot at another hit. Probably the latter because I looked and songs that went for adds in December have never done too bad and pull in pretty standard numbers (anywhere in the 20s to even 50s depending on the song) and it's not like either Old Dominion or Chayce Beckham/Lindsay Ell did poorly today.

Add day was a bit underwhelming, but I'm still very optimistic for the song going into 2022. Given this is a follow-up single to a minor Top 40 hit and Sam currently has a solo song climbing at Country Radio, I think 25 total stations is good for the circumstances. Also, it almost made the Billboard Country Airplay chart this week (it was #64) which was nice to see.

The bolded part is false just fyi, New & Active gives the six songs below the Top 60 that have gained audience during the week and is not an official ranking. So like for example Jameson Rodgers "Missing One" last week was at 482k but this week is not on New & Active as this week as it lost audience and I am like 99% sure Jameson is still ahead of Ingrid/Sam. I will also say Sam Hunt having a single I don't think is a huge factor since Jon Pardi had "Tequila Little Time" released before "Getting Over Him" which the latter still got a healthy amount of adds when it went for adds.

Eh, adds date isn't amazing numbers by any means, but all signs point to this being a hit and I'm certainly a lot more optimistic about this one's chances vs. her last two radio singles. Country radio will probably throw more support behind this one in 2022 once "23" has gone up the charts further is my guess.

Sirius XM's "The Pulse" (a Hot AC station!) has started to spin this. They played "Lady Like" earlier this year which helped it chart Top 50 on the Mediabase Hot AC chart, so fingers crossed the same thing happens with "Wishful Drinking".

This is one of my favorite songs of the year -- totally needs to be a big hit.
Never going to happen, but I can totally see this being the type of song that gets a crossover smash.

Both vocals are quite off. Yeah it sounded rough, especially Ingrid. I do like the song but that live performance wasn't great.

After reading these comments, I expected a truly cringeworthy performance. I thought it was pretty fine though? By all means its not a song that is going to vocally knock anyones socks off, but I didn't think it was really "off" at all.

Lol I expected that to be bad based on the above comments, but I thought they sounded perfectly fine? In fact, I'd say Ingrid in particular gave a solid vocal. The only qualm I had with her delivery in the performance was that she kinda clipped the final note in some of her lines in a weird way that doesn't really happen in the studio cut of the song. That was a bit jarring, but otherwise I thought she was quite good, and Sam Hunt was adequate enough, but he kinda faded into the background for me because Ingrid was the star. ETA: Lol @ me and d3vin44 posting at the same time and having the exact thoughts!

Yeah, I think that was a perfectly fine performance as well. Ingrid's high notes in the chorus ("Better make it two, nothin' I won't do" and "It's a hundred proof, nothin' I won't do" sounded shrill (and like playful?), which I didn't care for, but she sounded great other than that. Sam just sounded like he did have great breath support or something that made him sound quieter when he was singing lead.
On another note, I'm glad to see Sam helping promote this from the late night performance. I don't pay much attention to these one-off performances from artists, but I can't recall seeing that happen all too often.

Honestly didn’t see any issues with that performance lol. If we wanted to nitpick the only thing that sounded off was at the end when Ingrid went up in key saying “I’m wishful drinking,” but other than that I thought it was solid.

Up +4 spots to a new peak of #54 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart this week. Ties the same peak "The Stranger" reached in 2020.

Happy this is up to #54 already and early signs are definitely good for this song, I just hope it can start pulling in more stations as it is at best only on 36 stations as of this week on Mediabase which is pretty low for a song that is charting in the Top 60.

“Wishful Drinking” has been having solid radio updates the last few days & its sales have been on the rise (Been in the Top 100 on iTunes for almost a full week now!)
Hopefully radio will soon start to convert this into heavier rotation as “23” nears its peak.

Enters the Top 50 on Billboard Country Airplay this week at #46 (+8) becoming Ingrid’s 3rd Top 50 entry on the chart.
Based on its radio gains the last few days, I wouldn’t be shocked if this goes Top 40 on Billboard before it goes Top 50 on Mediabase.

New peaks on Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts this week!
HCS: #31 (+6) CA: #45 (+1)
Also, 5 more adds at radio this week, so hopefully its growth will continue. I still think this song will help Ingrid regain momentum headed into her sophomore era, so I'm excited to watch it continue to climb this year!
