This song is just too good. I have a feeling this will be a big song this year and fair really well at award shows.
Follow it up with “What He Didn’t Do” and Carly will solidify herself as one of the leading females in the genre.
Such strong writing!

I wonder how the callouts are looking for this one... NWTBTG's chart run has closely mirrored IHYHN's run so far, with a speedy climb to the top 20 and a slowdown in the teens. Mediocre feedback was the culprit back then and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case now. I think radio likes Carly enough to power it to a #1 (or close) finish anyway so I'm not worried.
Sidenote: I think "Your Drinkin', My Problem" would be a dark horse as a single (after "Didn't Do" of course) if Carly had a bit more momentum on her side.

I suspect the same thing. Looking at the Monday Morning Intel (provided by All Access), this ranks at #21 in score which could be a sign of middling reaction but it’s composite score (when taking streaming, sales, and few other things in consideration) makes it #13 which is actually good!

This one has really slowed down since the new year. I bet the callouts are less than steller because it’s had a pretty great run up until the past month. I think the same thing happened with happy now so I hope this one turns it around like it did.

Great callout (#5 net positive). This really looks like to hit #1.

Was just coming here to post about the callouts as well. These callouts are great and there is no reason for radio to have been decreasing airplay the past month.

Yeah, I was surprised when some of y'all were speculating that callouts might be a bit rough for this one because I had fully expected the opposite, lol. This just sounds to me like something that would test amazingly well, though I know you can't always tell, and with female-led songs it's always a bit of a toss-up. At any rate, I am glad that the callouts are indeed amazing because I feel like that pretty much seals the fate of this one being a future #1 on at least MB, if not both charts (since we know things get hinky w/ BB), since it was already a proven hit with streaming and sales.

So a bit of a good news bad news for this song.
Good news, this has on Mediabase gained a fair amount of momentum as it has gained 71 spins and about 520k since Monday so it is starting to recover from the snafu it went through the last couple of weeks.
The bad news is that the Mediabase callout score did take a bit of a turn for the worse as this went down nearly 4 points in positive score, 2.5 in Favorite score, went up 3.2 points in negative, went down 7 points in Net Positive, and up 1.1 points in heavy burn. The callout scores aren't bad and are still fine enough I think, but hopefully this was a fluke and this gets better numbers next week.

This has finally found its stride again after being stuck for all of January. Look for this one to likely finish the week at #11 or maybe #10 if she manages to pass Home Sweet (who she is close to.)

Sad but true fact in tonight’s AirCheck
This week sees a chart first as “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” by Carly Pearce & Ashley McBryde moves into the top 10. With “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” by Elle King & Miranda Lambert at No. 4, this is the first time there has ever been two female/female duets in the top 10 simultaneously.

Rises +1 spot to a new peak of #10 this week on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. Carly's 3rd Top 10 and Ashley's first.
Additionally, I believe this is the first time in history that 2 all-female collaborations have been charting simultaneously in the Top 10 on this chart (the other collab being "Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home)" by Elle King and Miranda Lambert.

Hope this doesn’t get too far behind Combs’ song. It’s push week begins a week from Sunday and is going to have to leap over Combs in order to go #1.

I’ve seen Big Machine have some of the biggest push weeks; and I think Scott is extremely proud of finally being able to break another woman in the country format, and is fully behind Carly, so I’m sure he’ll probably do everything in his power to try to make it happen.

It's just unfortunate how some of this planned-in-advance push weeks fall because this looks like a surefire #1 hit in say 4 weeks, but it feels like it will come up short if they go all-in this early. It's just so far back and there's lots of former #1s in the top 10 that just won't gtfo either, plus the threat of Luke Combs. I'll be unhappy if this isn't a #1 hit on both charts, especially given the historical context of following right behind in Elle/Miranda's footsteps. :/

They push this song at the same time as Never Say Never? Eh. It still outperforms my expectations as the callout is not the best and the streams are just not there.

Yeah the callout and interest has faltered for this song (see it's Hot 100 position). I would obviously love for it to hit #1 selfishly, but if it doesn't get it, it still was a pretty solid success especially for an all female duet.

Eh, #63 on the Hot 100 for a song that's only just inside the top 10 of the country airplay charts seems pretty good to me. It'll definitely peak in the 50s there at least which is a solid showing ("Every Little Thing" only made it to #50 and it went #1 at country radio fwiw) and it's only trailing by a few positions in its Hot Country Songs chart peak. Compare it to Keith Urban's latest which is one spot lower in airplay... but #24 on HCS. All-in-all, I'll definitely be disappointed if this doesn't hit #1 but I do agree it's been fairly successful regardless. Glad it got Ashley McBryde into the top 10 for the 1st time, too.

All-in-all, I'll definitely be disappointed if this doesn't hit #1 but I do agree it's been fairly successful regardless. Glad it got Ashley McBryde into the top 10 for the 1st time, too. It is important to note that country songs in 2017/2018 had a much harder time peaking high for the Hot 100 compared to 2022 (see "Catch and "Mercy" by Brett Young having the same peak despite "Mercy" being the clear bigger hit) if "Every Little Thing" was released today it probably would have peaked in the 30s in the Hot 100. Peaking in the 50s now for a country song on the Hot 100 isn't that impressive now as the country songs that peaked in the 50s or lower 40s weren't that big of hits ("Happy Does", "Knowing You", "Lady", "Nobody", "Same Boat", "You Time", "Somebody Like That"). I do think Keith Urban "Wild Hearts" would go down as one of the least deserving #1s ever in country radio and I hope it doesn't make it to the pinnacle and in comparison it makes "Never Wanted To Be That Girl" look like it's blazing the chart on fire. But on it's own metrics "Never Wanted To Be That Girl" has done okay but has never stood out and been the juggernaut it should have been. Of the 3 songs peaking soon ("Never Say Never", "Doin This" and "Never Wanted To Be That Girl") it is the weakest link and if one of the 3 has to miss the #1 spot on the chart it's probably the least deserving. Personal preference I would rather have Luke Combs miss #1 but I know that's a pipe dream

Can she please announce "What He Didn‘t Do" as the next single? There’s literally no other option on the album that screams hit, but knowing her label, I bet they’ll choose Diamondback as the next single.

I know what their plans were to release next as of a few months ago, so unless they changed their mind, then I think you'll be happy with their decision of what's next.

Yeah, What He Didn’t Do is next and then new era if i had to guess. And i think y’all are being too pessimistic about this one’s shot at number one…it’s got BMLG AND Warner Bros behind it. I have no doubt it will get AT LEAST Mediabase number one.
