This means 475K-550K. They have over projected nearly every single release by Drake.
Thank Me Later initial projection: 500k+ Final: 476k
Take Care initial projection: 700k+ Final: 625k~
Views initial projection: 1.2m Final: 1.05m~
Scorpion initial projection: 800-900k Final: 732k

^I agree that streaming for it will probably end up being very frontloaded.

Nice to finally see a release top 400k again.
It might drop a bit through the week but 400k seems like a done deal.

not that I expected it seeing as Scorpion couldn't do it, but it's kind of sad this isn't able to cross 1m. bet it would have easily done it with this level of success pre-streaming era. Taylor Swift and Drake set the ceiling usually, with Adele remaining as the only "wildcard" that could still possibly do it. Reputation is looking like it will be the last album to cross the threshold unless Billboard decides to recalibrate the streaming -> sales conversion. I bet they will ignore this like they ignore the sales con-artists on the Hot 100, though.

I think a BTS member said something similar and that's the one thing from their Billboard profile interview I agreed with. It's rare to get albums that can manage 300M streams in a week (only 13 albums have managed to do this), yet alone double that and streams need to weigh more if sales are going to keep weighing as much as they do. It's only fair. Maybe streaming has to represent 100% of all music consumption in the US before Billboard considers it or maybe they'll make the change when BTS starts streaming well in the US.

She would do similar with waiting til specific weeks to ship Folklore things. Imagine if an artist said “I’m not delivering my album until I’m sure you all will make it #1”. She does this just without saying it lol.

did taylor push back the fearless vinyls to make way for drake? they were supposed to ship this week on her website it says "ships on or around 10/1" so I'm imagining it's a production delay. pretty sure they were initially supposed to ship in August so I doubt this is about Drake (or Kanye). I believe a chunk of Fearless (TV) vinyl orders will ship in August, as that was the case for orders put in around release day. However, if you ordered one later, then it's likely to be in the November 19 batch.

I mean, we've had the actual music for months now. If She feels like shipping particular formats at different times, and/or has to because vinyls take a super long time to manufacture especially during a deadly global pandemic, I don't see why anyone would need to melt down over it.

There's never been a set date as far as we know. I don't think it's about a play for #1. evermore was never expected to reach #1 vs SOUR week 2 either and she still shipped it (it was only after some very late-week pushes that it started looking like a contender).
Probably pandemic-related delays.
The RED vinyls are apparently in production and shipping on debut week. That's a smart move because the Fearless numbers, while very good, did prove there's probably a 300k ceiling on what she can do on streaming + CDs alone for the re-releases.

I don't think it'll change much in hiphop, but for most other genres, I can see artists releasing music only after they get some vinyl ready for shipment in the first week. we've kind of seen this with Lorde, Billie Eilish, and Halsey recently, and Red TV of course.

Yeah my guess is that vinyl is kind of the new "bundle" in terms of boosting sales. It inflated Billie's somewhat lower streams into a decent overall number. And it saved Halsey from falling way too far from her usual 100k range without a hit single. Even Lorde got a very okay first week number and it was mostly vinyl.
And competition is gonna get fierce towards the end of the year probably. Taylor will not want to risk missing out on the #1.

If I ordered a CD from Amazon today but it's estimated to arrive on the 15th, does that still count as a sale for this week? Wanted to help the numbers for my girl Little Simz but that's the quickest they're able to send the album :(

If it ships before the end of Thursday, it counts, even if you don't get it until the 15th. Otherwise it's counted for next week.

well, vinyls aren't really the new bundles since they've been around since the 30s. However, they are getting increasingly popular and are kinda saving the sales market. Based on ukmix's estimate, vinyls were behind both digital and CDs by this time last year, but are now 1st place for copies, swapping with the dying digital format. 2021 2020 Digital 16,726,000 23,811,000 CD 24,323,000 23,646,000 Vinyl 25,197,000 12,529,000 www.ukmix.org/forum/chart-discussion/chart-analysis/10570238-2021-ytd-thread-united-states/page23

They are streaming pretty badly...
Good to see a non-Taylor album doing over 500k for a change!
