This is where I'm gonna stop for the night.
For me "I'm Just A Girl" is among the worst things I've heard from Deana. I've never liked it and no matter how many times I listen to it, it just does not grow on me or anything.

Happy to see “Goodbye Train” still hanging around! I have always loved that one.

"Twice as Worth It" is a snooze, so I hope it goes out next, and then we'll have one helluva strong top 5 remaining. This doesn't come anywhere close to the magic of her debut record, but I actually would place this one pretty close to the same level of quality as her sophomore record. Both have lots of great highs, but also both have several songs that are just... odd, to say the least. Happy to see “Goodbye Train” still hanging around! I have always loved that one. "Goodbye Train" probably would've been her best bet at another hit off the record, too. The title track was acceptable fluff and scraped the top 40, but I think "Train" probably could've came closer to the top 20.

"Girls' Night" is just plain awful, lmao. Easy last place. I guess the chorus is redeemable, but it is definitely ruined by the terrible verses where she is borderline-rapping about each of the women in her girls' group. Plus the production is waaaaaay too cluttered and loud. "Waiting" actually started pretty strong imo with Deana's parts. But Dwight's inclusion was absolutely unnecessary, and the lethargic melody of his sections completely sapped all the energy out of a song that really couldn't afford to lose any of its energy. Especially considering that she only sang like an intro verse or two, and then he completely dominated the entire second 2/3 of the song "Wildflower" has a lot of pleasant attributes when you are directly listening to it. Its biggest flaw is that it is one of the most forgettable songs on this album. Wow, "I'm Just A Girl" was done dirty!!!! It is cheesy and pointless fluff, but on an album as terrible as this one, that catchy chorus made it an extremely easy top 2 rank for me, lmao. But man, that "I'm a Chevy girl" line is absolutely nauseating the first time you hear it, presented like it's the entire hook of the song or something... Thank goodness it changes every chorus, which makes it almost forgivable. And damn, "Liar" is just plain catchy! On an album full of some of her weirdest/most experimental uptempos, "Liar" is just a fun uptempo jam that could have been at home on country radio or on any album by any country artist. "Eddie" commits the crime of being centered around a terrible name for absolutely no reason whatsoever, kinda like I complained about her suddenly singing to "William" out of the damn blue in "Turn Those Wheels Around", taking the universality out of an otherwise catchy song... Overall, these reveals are a bit of a mess, which is surprising to me on an album that had such obvious highs and lows to me!

Overall, these reveals are a bit of a mess, which is surprising to me on an album that had such obvious highs and lows to me! Speaking of, I cannot believe that "Cover Of A Magazine" is still in this!!! I wouldn't be surprised if that cringeworthy song being put on the same album as "Girls' Night" is what killed her entire career But at the same time, indie is right that "Twice As Worth It" is a snooze. Y'all haven't even left enough top-worthy 5 songs in here to fill out the top 5, lmao.

Especially considering that she only sang like an intro verse or two, and then he completely dominated the entire second 2/3 of the song I've always thought "Waiting" had one of the weirdest song structures I've come across. It looks like a rather brief poem when you look at the lyrics written down, somehow stretched out into an over 4 minute song, where Deana does two laborious verses, then Dwight comes in wailing like it's a different song entirely, followed by a long instrumental, then he comes back to sing the same part again, then she slides in at the end again like "oh yeah remember me?" 😂 Overall, these reveals are a bit of a mess, which is surprising to me on an album that had such obvious highs and lows to me! Speaking of, I cannot believe that "Cover Of A Magazine" is still in this!!! and there are the final results. "There's No Limit" predictably takes the top spot! Rightfully so I might add. I absolutely love this song and feel it has the same level of quality as the songs from her first and second albums but none of the rest of the songs here come close, at least production wise. I think "You and Tequila" is a brilliant song but I actually prefer Kenny Chesney's version over Deana's. Still like hers but his actually made me grow to appreciate hers more.
I'll give a couple days for everyone to comment before opening up the next album!

Shame Kanenrá:ke had to go and be different and not put "Limit" at #1, lol. 😂 Happy with how this turned out! "Limit" is an absolute BOP. I'm glad it was able to given Deana one last brief 'hurrah' at country radio after she'd fallen off, before she promptly slipped right back into irrelevancy.

Haha for all the complaints about the weirdness of this album I've always really appreciated that aspect of it. I don't know how the hell she got a major label to agree to this album but that's a different story. My top 5 I do love, I'm just always feeling like "There's No Limit" isn't as interesting as the songs I put above it. It's still such an earworm and I'm happy my local station actually plays it still now and then. I'll have to relisten to "Goodbye Train" I always thought it one of the more forgettable tracks from the album but it did really well here.

Probably entirely on the condition of "There's No Limit" being the lead single because it was the closest thing in sound to the uptempo jams from her debut record that all smashed. It kinda almost feels like a compromise of sorts, lol. If that song had been the lead-off of her second album, it probably would've been another #1 hit for her coming off the momentum and hype of Shave?. The fact it even made the top 20 when it did, like 3 years after she'd even last charted at the format and fell off hard, suggests it could've been huge if she was in a better place.

"There's No Limit" is awesome and its a rare example of a song that doesn't need a proper chorus to be catchy and stick with you. I agree it would have smashed if it was the lead to her second album.
The thing with Deana - who is hands down one of my favorite female artists ever, definitely Top 5 - is I find all of her material strong, but she just wanted to push boundaries one album too fast. EGBA is a good album, but it didn't sound like anything on radio, which would have worked for her THIRD album, if the second was a radio ready smash. I do think there were singles that would have worked on her second album, they just didn't pick the right ones (and in the case of "Angels Working Overtime," released it a single too late.)
I love her next album, Story of My Life, even though its also kind of artsy.

What will be #1? "One Day at a Time" probably. Not that it was much of a hit, but it's one of the more straightforward and catchy songs on the record and I don't see it being polarizing. What will be 11th? "Katie" or bust. It's goofy song, lmao.
What will make up the Top 3? "In a Heartbeat" + "Atlanta & Birmingham" are the two other standouts on the record imo so *fingers crossed* bottom 3? "Getting Over You" is a snooze and I could see "The Girl You Left Me For" placing low due to its polarizing nature.

I'm gonna go ahead and predict "In A Heartbeat" for the victory! I didn't really like "One Day At A Time", and with as few participants as this album got it will be interesting to see if it even has a chance of winning in spite of my rank... "Atlanta & Birmingham" is definitely a standout as well, and I'd also like to see "She's Good For You" make some noise as well, as I thought that was the most immediately catchy melody on the album!
