My first CD was some kiddie album with a bunch of nursery rhymes. I still have it for the nostalgia. Back in the early-mid 2000s, I looked forward to going to Walmart with my parents so I could buy CDs.

Nope...and neither did my dad since he was the one that eventually bought it for me. 🤣 I'm surprised the album never came with a parental advisory label. I remember being at that age and listening to "What About". I was literally sitting there and thinking how could someone "give head" and trying to decipher the meaning of it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The first album I bought with my own money was Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten."
But the first CD altogether, including things parents bought me, who knows? The Little Mermaid soundtrack? lol The first albums by radio artists I remember having were Shania's Come On Over, Faith Hill's Faith album, Spice Girls, Billy Gilman, Backstreet Boys. No idea in what order.

At least the first album I bought with my own money was 3LW’s debut when I was 12. If they didn’t already know, spose my parents found out I was gay right then & there.

I bought The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill back in 99. I absolutely loved the main singles, “Doo Wop (That Thing)”, “Ex Factor” and “Everything Is Everything”, but I wanted to hear the whole album. The album was worth the hype.

Dance Mix 94. When I first got into music, I was all about dance music, from this CD to Real McCoy and euro pop like Whigfield. Jams all around!

I started with tapes, the first one I bought with my allowance was Mariah Carey's debut album. I upgraded to CDs in 93 when I was 12, the first one I bought was janet.

My dad was constantly giving me his 8-tracks and records when he was done with them. so typically, it was cumbias and crooners that I owned first.
My first CD, I believe was some children's songs that my parents bought me that accompanied some book series.
My first CD that I owned, that qualifies for this post, I guess, was Mariah Carey's Emotions and Boyz II Men's II.

Simon and Garfunkel’s Greatest Hits. I had just purchased my first CD player, and had gone to the store to buy a CD to play on it, and for some reason I ended up with this one. This was back in 1986 when the amount of pop/rock CDs were still somewhat limited.
For instance, the Beatles catalog hadn’t even been released on CD yet (that would occur in 1987).

The first two I bought (or maybe had my parents buy for me lol) were Michael Jackson's Bad and Debbie Gibson's Out of the Blue. The first CD I remember buying is Mariah's debut album.

I don't recall very well, but I think my first tape was Madonna, either Like A Virgin or Madonna. I bought both almost at the same time. Even though I had at home a lot of vinyl albums from my dad, I think the first one bought by me was either Bryan Adams' Reckless or The Cure's The Head On The Door. Later in around 1987 I wanted to start getting my music on vinyl, getting away from tapes so I bought a few more, but that didn't last long because CDs became massive in the next years and I switched fully to them.

I think the first tape that was bought for me was some Disney tape from McDonalds and then later on Britney's Oops...I Did It Again.
The first hand me down tape I had received was MJ's Thriller from a friend. I remember my dad used to have a bag with a bunch of old tapes inside, so from there I found Janet's Control.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was Britney's ...Baby One More Time followed by Oops!...I Did It Again. Jessica Simpson's Sweet Kisses and Jennifer Lopez's J.Lo are also among the first CDs I ever bought.

First CD I got, as a gift, "Hysteria" by Def Leppard in 1989.
First CD I bought with my own money, "Mariah Carey" by Mariah Carey in 1996. Previously I had it on a cassette tape.

Mariah’s #1s was the first CD I ever bought. And what a great purchase it was because it gave me all her essentials from the 90s.

I honestly don't know the answer to this. I don't remember purchasing them or asking for them as gifts or anything. They've always just... existed in my collection. But those two are Shania Twain's The Woman in Me and Robyn's Robyn Is Here.
There were also three albums I do know I purchased with my own allowance, but I don't remember which came first. They are Shakira's Laundry Service, No Doubt's Rock Steady, and P!nk's M!ssundaztood.
But this is only if you exclude all the children's music lol. No, I never owned a Kidz Bop, but I did have several different collections of music meant for kids on CD. Can't remember at all what they were. I know one was just called Kids Dance Party and the majority of the songs were from the 50s and 80s for some reason, and I also had a Scooby Too remix CD or something, and a 13 Nights of Halloween CD. I think those last two came from cereal lol.
