Underneath the Tree is #16 on Billboard this week. For those of you who follow the charts more closely than I do - does UTT have a chance of reaching #10 on the Hot 100 this holiday season?

She is the 10th highest charting Christmas song right now. Last year, in the final big holiday week, 8 of the top 10 songs on the Hot 100 were Christmas. So it’s definitely not a sure thing, but it’s also not out of the question! I know it’s beating a dead horse, but some kind of promo/a proper video or new lyric video/more TikTok engagement could easily do this for her! Her radio play is also slightly lower than all the songs around her because those are all locked in standards at this point! I’m still hopeful!

Hopefully with next year being the 10-year anniversary of Wrapped in Red, she'll actually do some promo for UTT to get it into the Top Ten (if it fails to do so this year). WCCA will pretty much be played out by that point so hopefully there's some kind of special release (or anything) for WIR despite her not being on RCA anymore.

Underneath the Tree is #16 on Billboard this week. For those of you who follow the charts more closely than I do - does UTT have a chance of reaching #10 on the Hot 100 this holiday season? 50/50 chance maybe? The biggest hurdle is that Christmas Day falls in the middle of the 1/7/23 tracking week. UTT has consistently held as the #10 Christmas song on the chart so far, but that means it is reliant on a full Christmas sweep of the Hot 100 top 10 to guarantee the top 10 peak. 12/31/22 will be the last full holiday week, and I'm not sure if Christmas songs will have saturated the chart enough by then to push Anti-Hero and/or Unholy out of the way (both of those songs are losing points, but slowly). At the current rate of gaining/losing points, UTT would make it past those two on the 12/31 chart, but it would be a close race. The second hurdle is that from what I can tell UTT has been pretty close in points to Sleigh Ride and The Christmas Song. So any little fluctuation could just barely edge UTT out of being part of that theoretical top 10 takeover or conversely work in its favor and push it in.

Hi, would anyone have knowledge on knowing what songs are taped and when for the kelly show. I got tickets for tomorrow afternoons show and was curious if it'll still be a christmas song or back to "regular" covers. Thanks 😊

This site has ‘Underneath the Tree’ at number 12, so is it at number 16 or number 12 on the hot 100 this week ?

^I believe UTT peaked at #12 last year. I interpreted that post as saying that she has had five Christmas songs ever chart on the Hot 100 ever, not necessarily all at the same time

Hasn't she promoted it a fair amount in the years since its initial release? I thought she performed it on both The Voice and her holiday special within the past few years. She's also done it on Disney, Rockefeller, and others in the years after its initial release. Hasn't she also performed it multiple times for Kellyoke?

UTT reached at #12 in 2020 and got to #13 last year. Why is it that other people saying that stuff about/to Kelly makes me so happy? So glad you shared that. I could watch hours of people praising her - it’s endlessly awesome entertainment for me. Oh, super late with this response, but I don't think anyone posted this and it's never too late to add to some endless awesomeness, right? So here is Mariska Hargitay stanning her heart out over Kelly to River at the PCAs. They also took red carpet pics together.

To have these two vocals on the same day, both completely different vocals to completely different songs. The fans are fed. Damn SCYHM is a hard song to sing as a solo, and she absolutely nailed it. What a high bar to jump. So nice to hear the stamina and great technique with her voice continue apace, and even improve. It seems lowering keys while singing live over the years has protected that special gift of hers. Not always the case. Speaking of, switching back to her award win...did you clock everybody around her? They were standing and smiling. You can tell she has accrued so much good will and love from her peers. For a few other of the night's wins, people clapped passively and stayed seated. Always like seeing things like that...a matter of watching what people do, not what they say.

She has definitely promoted it through the years. But if you take a look at Mariah, she has kept giving high profile performances, brand integration, merchandising, and tons of social media posts every single year. There is a level of leg work that Kelly’s team seems uninterested in doing. Her split with RCA I’m sure has a bit to do with it. But don’t get me wrong, I love every single bit of love she’s given it through the years!

But don’t get me wrong, I love every single bit of love she’s given it through the years! I'm sure it has a lot to do with it! As has been mentioned, she's in a similar position to Mariah in the late 90s, who was on a different label and not promoting it everywhere one turned. It was only after AIWFC got too big to ignore in the early to mid 00s that Mariah and that song's new normal emerged. Maybe Kelly, RCA & Atlantic will get to that place eventually and row in the same direction, but Atlantic are obviously trying to carve out their own evergreen holiday hit which would benefit them more than any success of Underneath. An anniversary edition/live Christmas album of her originals etc. might be the ticket next year. And like someone else said, When Christmas Comes Around won't be "new" anymore, so a promo push if it doesn't yield results will no longer be prudent.

I think "Love Actually" was a momentum to make Mariah's great song more popular for younger generation than past. Anyway, the success of UTT is a miracle for a "newer" original holiday song and it needs a lot of time like Mariah's song. Who expected its success like today? UTT would be bigger than now for sure in the near future.
Hope to get its 10th anniversary edition next year! : )

I meant to post this in the album thread:
Her voice is just pristine: I don’t recall any point at in her career, where the clarity, depth, range, especially in the lower registers, confidence with the head voice, agility with her runs have been 100% on point basically 100% of the time making her one of the most consistent vocalists in music on top of what I consider to be the one of best vocal tones and one of the best soulful voices in music ever and the most versatile voice (vocal chameleon) ever.

I wonder why some of the freshman shows are showing a NA which I assume means not available.

The fact that they combine Drew’s two half hour audiences to come up with that 0.7 is such an LOL moment. So it’s actually 0.35?

Are they saying that the people who watch the first half are not the same as those watching the 2nd? Why would anyone think that an entire audience would suddenly switch at the halfway point?

I wonder why some of the freshman shows are showing a NA which I assume means not available. They mostly air on Fox stations and that programming has been knocked out because of the World Cup. The fact that they combine Drew’s two half hour audiences to come up with that 0.7 is such an LOL moment. So it’s actually 0.35? Pretty much. It will never not be funny and eye roll inducing when they write about how much it's jumped since last year with what I presume is a straight face. Her show was mostly 0.5 with a few 0.6's thrown in and ended with a couple of weeks at 0.4 last season. So looking at that, she's actually down slightly this season. Kelly's impressively holding very consistent this year.

It's hogwash, but yeah, that's basically how they're spinning it. Because her show is now taped and packaged in such a way that stations can opt to air only one of the half hour segments, or air both of them several hours apart from one another, you can't guarantee that whoever was watching segment A at 9:30 AM is also checking back for segment B at 2 pm. (In reality, most markets airing both are continuing to air them together as if it's a singular 1-hour show.) They basically took a page out of the Family Feud playbook.
