I'm curious if they'll follow a similar model to Christina's most recent Spanish-language album. 3 separate EPs released a few months apart that eventually merged into a singular album (EPs 1 & 2 had six songs each, EP 3 had two). Unconventional, but it at least gave fans time to digest the material in parts and something to look forward to over a longer period of time.

Does anyone know who's managing Kelly's career now? Surely she's signed with someone by now. According to IMDbBPro she is still signed with CAA for commercial + hosting gigs. Viewpoint is her publicist. Legal rep (according to the site) is Ziffren Brittenham. Not sure who her actual "management" is, though. CAA is probably handling in the interim. She's been mentioning a "manager" recently and signs are pointing to it being Tricia having transitioned to that from being her longtime assistant. I feel like they (Kelly and her) had been doing the manager role for the last while and Tricia got the official title recently. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

I don't care about numbers I care about artists and respected talent. Whenever these two drop a duet on their upcoming albums imma pee my panties. Nobody in the last 30 years gives emotional ballads like these two.

My point was that this model has the potential to keep fans and consumers provided with material over an extended period of time as opposed to dropping everything all at once. If you don't have a hit single to drive up streams (and in tandem, album sales), it can be out of the public conscious within weeks. This model at least allows the potential to keep interest over the long term if executed properly.

One of my favorite bands did the same thing, and as someone who really gets into listening to a full body of work, it was very disjointed for me. Plus, I’ve yet to see the commercial pay off that would drive that sort of move. But who knows. I could see them doing more singles ahead of the album’s release instead of a lead single and the rest following after the album is out.

I think it’s a horrid idea. And doesn’t jive with what she said about the singular cover making a good vinyl.

With her platform she could perform a new song from the album every Friday and have it released on digital platforms on the same day. Do that for 12 weeks (let’s say there’s 12 songs on the album). Release the vinyls and cds on that 12th week when all the songs have been performed on the show and available on streaming platforms. This would also guarantee a nice first week and high placement on the BB200.

Speaking of, Happier Than Ever was #58 on iTunes today?

When she talks about an unconventional release, where do you see that going in 2023 and what would the potential output be?

I honestly feel Kelly and her management feel like they need to use her music career to promote her talk show when the reality is it's the other way around.

When she has projects like WCCA or Kellyoke, I wish they would devote either an episode or different segments over the course of weeks to these projects. Take us behind the scenes! Show us the making of these projects and Kelly’s whole process. Pre-tape sit down discussions with Kelly talking to her collaborators on these projects. There are so many interesting and unique ways they could go about highlighting her music projects in the show beyond just doing a shortened version of her own material for Kellyoke.

Couple it with a live album second disk? Preview a song a day on Kellyoke leading up? Who knows! Also, would not be that excited about her mentioning the movie thing. I mean The Cry Inside was a movie project, technically, so :/

I don’t think Kelly pays much attention to how other artists release projects so I wouldn’t be surprised if this “cool way” isn’t something that unique lol.
But speaking of unrealistic expectations, I want the movie project to be her doing the soundtrack single for Princess Diaries 3.

I just hope it isn’t something we hate (and I would hate a spread out release as suggested before). I don’t mind dropping songs day by day until all have been dropped. That’s fine. I also would love for her to be on the soundtrack for Princess Diaries 3. That would be so appropriate.

Unconventional releases have never been an issue in r&b/hip-hop, but the pop audience for some reason is extremely wedded to the "traditional" roll out and from the outside looking in I feel like that just makes it harder for pop artists to utilize different ways of marketing. But I'm just being selfish with this statement as someone who loves it when companies or artists think outside the box.
Regardless, I have no commercial expectations at this stage in Kelly's career so I can't be bothered to care how she gives this album to us, just as long as she gives it and actually fully commits to whatever form of promotion she's planning. She really needs to get over her modesty and use her show to push herself.

I don't care about the rollout. She could release the album with no promotion, and I wouldn't care. I just want the album already! lol

Her performance of Unforgettable was beautiful. She always adds these little inflections to make the songs her own and it was just a gorgeous vocal.

Her eyes did not leave that teleprompter lol, I don't know how tf she does it day after day. The band, too. There should be college courses on how they even begin to pull this off.

Honestly all the promotion she needs she has in her highly regarded and rated daytime television show (not everyone has that) and social media. She dont need to do radio or magazine interviews not fly anywhere or hit the circuit. Sit on that damn couch on your highly rate daytime show and force that bloody album down the consumers throat. Then instead of covers tease and sing songs of the album and make them pay attention

Kelly’s “Happier Than Ever” cover is having another moment on TikTok. It received 213k streams on spotify on Monday. Which nearly matches its daily stream peak from last June.
The Edit version is up even more with 313k streams on Monday, which is by far its biggest streaming peak.
