I was on one of those bitter betties about getting a covers EP instead of an album of original music, but I have to say I'm really enjoying Kellyoke. She's never sounded better; I'm glad we have her voice on record in all its current glory.
"Happier Than Ever" is obviously the highlight, but shoutout to "Call Out My Name" and "Queen of the Night" too. The only song I don't really care for is "Blue Bayou," but she still sounds fantastic.

Her voice is insane on this, good God release an album already. "Call Out My Name" is the highlight for me. I like her take on "Queen Of The Night." And her cover of "Happier Than Ever" absolutely smokes the original. "Fake Plastic Trees" is pretty. "Trampoline" is fine, but I wish she had gone with another selection.
The only big disappointment for me is "Blue Bayou," Linda's version is so emotive/evocative. Kelly's take is flat and lifeless.

What is with all this Blue Bayou hate? I think it's a great starter to the EP and a full vibe.
Queen of the Night needs to be played at every Pride function from here to eternity.
One thing's for sure, all those years of wanting her to be known as The Voice...well, I think we're here.
She sounds beyond next level across the board. She's always been a master at transitioning from chest to head but you hear it here more than ever. The ease, the complete friggen mastery of her instrument.

In a stunning turn of events Kelly is slated to perform "Womanizer" on next Wednesday's show lmao. This is not a joke.

I'd love if Kelly worked with Finneas on her next album. I bet they could come up with something truly magical. Do we have any sense of producers/writers she's tapped for the divorce album? I got the sense from that interview a few weeks back that the album is essentially complete, but I'm not sure if we've heard any news of who she's worked with.

I wonder where that new "Happier Than Ever" cover is? The last time she performed it was up on her channel at the usual time (not sure what would have changed between then and now).
The EP is divine. I love the Radiohead cover. The production on "Queen of the Night" is great, too. It reminds me of a VMA remix from the 00's.
She truly has never sounded better.

The EP is No. 1 overall on the US iTunes Albums chart. Also Happier Than Ever has jumped 70 spots since I woke up this morning and rising fast. I know it doesn't mean as much as it used to, but always good seeing her at Number One anywhere!

I've noticed that when they do encores, they don't repost them. At least I think they don't.

I know they've shown encore performances when folks have filled in for her, but this was a brand new episode that she herself hosted. I suppose it's entirely possible they just re-aired the old one at the top of the show and maybe she recorded one of next week's covers during that particular taping? I was hoping we'd get a 2nd performance that had that new high note in it lol. If anyone sees it live today, please chime in!

The TKCS twitter described it as an encore performance.

I actually love this EP and this segment on her show. Actually really hope Atlantic sends some of these to radio with how covers/samples/interpolations are becoming hits these days. She covered a good amount of genres on this EP (wish she had more of a country cover to send to radio) and hope Atlantic use this EP to build her back a little radio love for her next original music era.

First world problems but I can’t get my Alexa to stream this by voice command. It thinks I’m saying karaoke or Kelly licky. Lol

Fake Plastic Trees is probably the most beautiful her voice has ever sounded on record. I listened to it on repeat on my lunch at work, I got lost in those vocal runs she does. It’s so refreshing to hear her lean into a softer, subdued vocal - and this is from someone who loves her usual style of belting and showing off her pipes.
Admittedly I’ve never heard the originals of any of the songs on the EP, besides Trampoline a few times on the radio, so I can’t compare them to their original recordings.
I can’t say I was grabbed by the other songs unfortunately (besides Happier Than Ever, obviously I love that). Maybe it will take a few more listens. What’s interesting to me is how polarizing the commentary has been across the web. Some people are wowed by a certain song but others think it’s a total miss. I guess that’s the beauty of how covers work.

The EP is such a great treat. Not only does she sound good, but she delivers some phenomenal vocals too.
I need Kelly to give us a full blown cry your heart out rock inspired divorce album.
And I need a full country album (her voice sounds its prettiest when she does country music imo).
Hopefully it won't be long until her next studio album.

Kelly sounds immaculate. I agree with the praise for her vocals. My keepers are Blue Bayou and Trampoline, which apparently, is opposite everyone else? * See the last sentence.
To be fair, I have never heard the original Blue Bayou, so I thought Kelly's version was just immaculate. As for Trampoline, this, to me, is the definitive version. Elsewhere, she is competing with very stylistic artists who have crafted a specific sound, THE voice, and...my favorite band of all time. This EP makes me crave Kelly originals, so...if that was the intent, it worked! I WILL say this, though. If I had never heard the original Fake Plastic Trees, it would probably be in my top 10 Kelly songs of all time. Overall though, with the exception of Trampoline and Blue Bayou, this EP makes me want to listen to the originals.

The EP is simply stunning. I am so glad that we got this. Her voice just sounds.. immaculate. She continues to leave me in awe 20+ years into her career. Simply brilliant.
"Blue Bayou" is one I wasn't particularly hyped about, but damn did she do THAT! Whenever she does make that country album one day, this is exactly what I'd like it to sound like. This is one of my favorites for sure. "Queen Of The Night" is another legendary performance all around. I love the changes they made to it, and she did Whitney justice as usual. I cannot think of anyone else who is doing Whitney Houston songs justice like this. "Call Out My Name" 's whole second verse is just on another level. That freaking C#6! "Fake Plastic Trees" is another I wasn't familiar with or particularly excited about, but oh my goodness, whoever said they got major Sober vibes from that is so right. The emotion and conviction behind her voice amazes me.
Shoutout to Jason and the rest of the band as well. The production on this entire EP is phenomenal. There's such a nice mix and balance of everything going on around her voice that just adds to the whole experience rather than trying to compete with Kelly's vocal. Also shoutout to whoever did the mixing for the Dolby Atmos mix on Apple Music. I'm usually not a fan of those mixes on practically any other album, but they add even more depth and texture on this EP.
Lastly I just want to say that I've had a pretty rough day, and this EP is getting me through. It's like the queen knew exactly when I'd need this! Lol

Even with 16 songs from the new BTS release above her, she’s at #40 on iTunes with Happier Than Ever. That’s pretty impressive for a non-original that’s gotten zero promo outside her Instagram lol

Cause she hasn’t performed this mediocre song 15,000 times already 🤦🏻♂️ I will never understand lol Anyways, looks like Britney deleted the caption on her recent Instagram post about Kelly. Someone must have gotten to her and given her the full context.

Curious to see how Under The Bridge turns out. Another one of my favorite songs of all time. Anyone will probably destroy me. Though, to be honest, I haven't really been keeping up with her karaoke songs until the EP dropped.
Edit: Revisiting Meaning Of Life. Maybe one of my favorite albums of all time now. Every time I step away from my obsession with it and come back to it, I am amazed. Like I am hearing a brand new artist. Makes me want to cry. I need more.

She's going to do "Anyone"? I honestly don't think I'm prepared.
Reminds of a tweet from a few years ago when the Hamilton mixtape was announced and the tweet said something like "someone's gonna cover It's Quiet Uptown? No one can tackle that song, it's just going to sound like--- oh, it's Kelly Clarkson? I'm not ready." Same thing here. Truly never could imagine anyone doing it justice, but Kelly? If anyone can, it's her.
Demi's Grammy performance of it still shatters my soul to this day.

Okay, so Call Out My Name is giving me so much life. She SANG that song, sweet baby Jesus. Call Out My Name and Happier Than Ever packs that one two punch that hits you right in the feels! Like damn. She still has got IT! They are the kind of songs that I'll just be driving around and singing both songs at the top of my lungs like the diva that I am. *Insert Katy Perry and American Idol contestant wig gif* Man, you can tell she has so much emotions built up just wanting to come out.
Aside from those two amazing tracks which are just Chef's Kiss, I do dig Blue Bayou and Queen of the Night as well. This EP is quenching my thirst just a bit, but I am ready for her to engulf me with that album. Give it to us later this year sis! Also my girl, listen to The Chicks and be honest and open on the upcoming album. Please don't water it down, Kelly. Tell Atlantic "Bye Felicia" if they want just basic Kelly. I want that raw and authentic Kelly. You done went through enough of that compromising with Cluck Five, Puke, and your past record label. Drag your ex and give us life. He might not want cameras on the property, but you can EXPOSE him through lyrics. Also, remember Kelly, your life will never suck without him. I said what I said.

If I had to take a guess, I actually think that Atlantic would fully encourage Kelly to release a vulnerable, singer-songwriter divorce album. I think it’s Kelly who is hesitating, because of her kids. Wringing her children’s father out to dry as (let’s just guess) a cheat and a lair who went back on her image of him as someone who “collected me, up off the ground . . . he never walks away, he never asks for money, he takes care of me, because he loves me” - that’s a tough thing for her kids to hear about their father. I selfishly want that EXACT album so badly, but I fully understand her ambivalence.

I wish that Atlantic would invest in her a little more. I was pretty surprised to see the ep lacking on basically every Spotify playlist it could go on. It’s the easiest no brainer promo nowadays. Not even on the new music lists! I don’t understand.

I don't expect the EP to do particularly well on the Billboard charts, but I'm hoping it at least debuts top 50 and does as well as WCCA did its first week.
