Amazing winner! Borderline is definitely one of her best songs. Thanks for hosting Shooter

I knew it. I KNEW it. I don't think I'll vote in the Britney tourney because of the result. And I DESPISE the single mix.
Anyway, Thank you Shooter.

So good to go back in history with the first album of my favorite artist ever --and my first memories of her! 8. I Know It (8): I only bought this album around 2003 or so. This was the clear bottom at first listen, and I haven't changed my mind since. Kinda just there for me. And the retro vibe doesn't help to me either. Not horrible, just underwhelming. 7. Think of Me (5): This was a nice discovery when I bought the album. I hadn't heard it in quite a while, and after a few listens for this RD, I actually liked it enough to place it in my top 5. Basically, because I found the melody more interesting than PA and Ev. Plus, her rougher vocals in the chorus were more convincing to me, and the more subdued verses reminded me a bit of Borderline. 6. Everybody (6): I remember hearing this song a few times back in 1983, but not caring much about it. Throughout the years, I've learned to appreciate the production better, but I still find the melody -chorus included- a bit underwhelming, even though it's an important song in her discography. 5. Physical Attraction (7): I only heard this song in the 90s. I guess Regina's Baby Love was a bit inspired by this. I like the instrumental, including that thumping synth. It's much better than IKI to me, and close to Everybody and ToM. 4. Burning Up (4): I heard this song only around 1985, thanks to a music video TV channel that aired this video often late at night and sometimes as part of Madonna-only 'specials'. It was a surprisingly good song to me back then and has remained as such since then. The sexy video fit the song very well, the Debbie Harry-like vibe worked for both the video and the song, as it was the most rock song she had recorded in her first 5 years or so (alongside Dress You Up). Plus, quite a catchy, well produced tune that I thought should've been much more popular. 3. Holiday (2): I totally remember hearing this in 1983, and also thinking she was black :) It sounded like a nice disco-pop tune. It was a very minor hit in Peru, but after Madonna got big with LaV, we'd hear this song more often. I hadn't yet started doing my personal chart -I only started in Aug '84- so I didn't chart it. However, when I bought The Immaculate Collection, I really liked that new edit, and I saw that it was re-released in the UK, so I also made it enter my personal chart -where it reached the runner-up spot as Holiday '91. Interestingly, in Peru a cover of this song by Dutch acts Miker G & DJ Sven (that was popular in Europe in the 80s) also became a big hit -and also reached the runner=up spot in my personal chart). It's a timeless, super catchy pop song. Plus, that piano at the end of the original version sounds very Latin. I also loved the energy of the video from Blond Ambition Tour 2. Lucky Star (3): This was the first song that officially entered my personal chart, where it reached the top 3. I LOVED the video even more than that of Borderline. It was all about her and the dancers' dancing and outfits. I think this is where her image became a signature, and practically a moment in pop history. The song itself is great in terms of having multiple hooks, multiple ad-libs in the last minute, great instrumentation including the guitar/synth in the bridge that took it to another level. This was her second hit in Peru, and it ended in my yearend top 15. As with several 80s songs, I like the extended version even more. 1. Borderline (1): Yeah!!! I mean, any of the songs in the top 3 were strong enough to be #1, but I think this is the most deserving winner. When I heard this song first I also think she was black. I thought it was kinda Stephanie Mills, considering that this song gives me similar vibes as Never Knew Like This Before. The background vocals add another layer of strength and uniqueness. And Madonna's own vocals are pretty good, here. This song made the top 10 of my 1984 yearend personal chart, and was her first big hit in Peru, and a song with good recurrent airplay. Thanks a lot SHOOTER for another amazing rankdown!
