I read that Scotty is getting a 2 week Billboard #1 but haven’t been totally paying attention to mediabase bc all the manipulation so could someone update me if it’s also looking like it’s going to get 2 weeks there too? If so, I think this single just may be the start of Scotty really becoming an A Lister In the format . And that doesn’t even mean all of singles are going to hit #1 After this (highly doubt it) but expecting his singles to minimally hit the top 20/top 15, unless it’s a major miss from him and TT. But honestly, Scotty has been putting out GREAT material and when he has support with HIS vision (sans. Southern Belle which is an example of when the label forces a vision upon him ), he knows EXACTLY the artist he is and wants to present himself as.
Also looking at the males getting significant radio play in the last couple years, not only has been really successful and consistent radio wise, he actually has one of the better and most immediately distinct voice and brand of music on country radio and brilliantly mixes traditional with current pockets. He ties it all together extremely well and when you add that all together, Scotty is looking to be a STAR an A lister in the format in the next years if he plays his cards right. Even album wise, he’s been holding up in comparison to overall album sales drops, still showing up on the top 200 and top 10 country albums overall without all that huge push (TV promo, award shows etc.) With streaming, he’s also holding up very well as even You Time, which folks felt was a lower impact, not major needle moving #1 for him, streaming numbers still look great (probably by the end of this album era, it’ll have well over 30 million Spotify streams which is very SOLID for a country hit these days). He tours very well too (better than some artists that get significant radio play like Dylan Scott, Chris Lane etc) and has been a road warrior for most of his career. He stayed present in the country radio industry since he arrived as a teen, had his up and downs within the industry but Now he’s married, having a kid (these experiences are going to make GREAT songs for a more traditional leaning artist like him) and is the perfect age to really Now to really become the star he was essentially meant to be. A lot of these things I can say about Lauren Alaina too, to a lesser extent in some points and hope her label change provides the kind of results Scottys gotten bc she deserves it and has the goods. She’s paid her dues and has shown up. Happy for both of them.
Dam that was a lot. My bad for all that LOL

It looks like Jake Owen may overtake Scotty for #1 tomorrow on Mediabase. It’s starting to look like “Damn Strait” may get a 3rd week at #1 on Billboard though.

This is such a deserving smash!!! I loved it from first listen and am just so damn happy it got to the top spot. 3 weeks would be a career high for Scotty I believe. Hope he can keep up this momentum and keep smashing.

Bare in mind, Scotty won American freaking Idol in 2011, and yet it took until 2018 for him to get a #1 hit. And since then, he’s gotten 4 more. The label change has done wonders for him and will hopefully keep him on this streak.

Scotty only gained 340 spins and 893 AI during his Push week. WTH. Why wouldn’t his Label push harder so Damn Strait could get a 2nd week at Mediabase?
As of today, Jake Owen gained 1153 spins and 4,415 AI. Now that’s a Push week.
Hoping he stays at the top on Billboard tomorrow.

If Scotty would have had a bigger push week, Jake would have had an even bigger push week. See 7500 OBO as a prime example. Sadly it’s the way the game is played. Billboard is the one that is not easily manipulated. Believe Scotty will get a 3rd week there.

Also I know many of us here care about songs spending one more week a #1 on MB because ultimately Pulse is a chart-focused forum but like recordyear said, I feel like "1 week at #1 on MB and 3 weeks at #1 on BB" (assuming he spends a third week at #1 on BB which looks pretty likely) and "2 weeks at #1 on MB and 3 weeks at #1 on BB" is fairly small considering either way they will be able to claim that this was a 3-week #1. At a certain point, a harder push isn't worth it (although label politics would also have a hand in this, as in not pushing Scotty way too far ahead so Jake could go #1 the following week) and it's just putting in extra effort for small gains; basically diminishing returns. Either way "Damn Strait" was a big success for Scotty and his label, and I would imagine that what matters more for them in the bigger picture is the overall success of the song and not how many weeks it spent at #1 on Mediabase.

Officially Scotty’s biggest hit on Country Airplay as it gets a 3rd week on top.

It’s really nice that an older idol act that isn’t Carrie or Kelly is still getting hits and looks on track to get hits for years to come. Along with gabby they seem to be the only 4 able to hit the hot 100 at this point.

I never took a liking to this song but I'm glad to see a Trent Tomlinson co-write be a hit, that man deserves so much more success than he gets.

He has a new album coming out next month according to a Facebook video he made last week. He said it's going to be an album with some old cuts that never made an album and that all of it will be "sad country songs you can drink to." Hoping it will actually come out unlike that album that he told us about a few years ago that never surfaced.

I'm glad Scotty was the one who released Damn Strait and that it has become his biggest hit so far. His voice is perfect for it.
Yesterday he had a huge party to recognize his last 3 number 1's and Gold singles, In Between, You Time and of course Damn Strait. It is nice to see that after all this time, he is finally starting to get some recognition from the music industry.

How awesome that Damn Strait is going recurrent today, still at #4 on the MB chart. Well done Scotty.
Hope the trend continues for It Matters To Her.
