The whole article in case it is deleted. Miranda Lambert has been working on new music and has a new song called “If I Was A Cowboy” coming out on October 15, 2021. The song, which has not yet been shared online, is a tale of a woman, who if she was a cowboy, admits she would be a bit wild.
The song’s chorus contains the lyrics, “If I was a cowboy I’d be wild and free / Rolling around these towns like tumbleweeds / I’d be living and loving and leaving sipping on whiskey and numbing up my feelings / You thought the West was wild but you ain’t saddled up with me / If I was a cowboy I’d be the queen.”
Lambert also refers to the iconic 1970s song from Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson “Mama’s Don’t Ler Your Babies Grown Up To Be Cowboys” with the line, “So mamas if your daughters grow up to be cowboys so what?”
No word yet on when a new album for Miranda is coming, but be on the lookout for an announcement soon.

Weird. I would have assumed they would’ve waiting until after “Drunk” was done considering how radio did Settling Down when she had two singles charting simultaneously. Always here for new Miranda though.

Writers on BMI are just Miranda and Jesse Frasure.

I'm shocked they're moving Miranda on to ML8 (or ML9, depending on how you count The Marfa Tapes) so quickly. I would've assumed they'd let "Drunk" take off on country radio as it deserves to. It's still doing quite well on HAC/CHR and is beginning to be played more often over there, so this moving on to a new era, if it's indeed that, is a head-scratcher. I'm also stunned this isn't something from the Pistol Annies...isn't this their tenth anniversary?
But hey, I'll take new MirLam anytime!

I also think a part of this has to do with Maren. From what I've heard, Maren's 3rd album rollout will start early next year and will have a similar rollout to "GIRL". I think Sony wants to separate her and Miranda's releases hence Miranda already moving into her next album cycle.

Next year is going to be a little different. Miranda, Maren, and Carrie will all be starting album rollouts around the same time. Usually they were staggered (at least Miranda and Carrie were) I remember whenever Miranda’s album era was winding down Carrie would drop an album, and vice versa.
Country radio better give all the women the airplay they deserve.

I don't think there will be a problem with Maren, Carrie, and Miranda all getting airplay considering they are the three leading ladies in the genre, but it will be interesting to see how the album rollouts go. I am SO excited for new Maren.

there’s also an imminent Pistol Annies album on the way for the holiday. Miranda will have released 3 albums in a year since it looks like her solo is early 2022.

Well "Half of My Hometown" will probably still be on the charts when the others drop their lead singles assuming they all are ready to start in the late winter/early spring. So Kelsea's new era will still be staggered from theirs by a few months. And I believe the point of this conversation is that the biggest female artists that radio is just about guaranteed to play are going to be starting eras at the same time...so Ashley McBryde has no relevance to this discussion

This teaser sounds great. I’m so glad she’s not waiting on Drunk to peak.

Oh this sounds GOOD. Very excited that she’s coming on the same day as Adele’s return and Kelly Clarkson’s new Christmas set. Great day for music next Friday!

I was nervous about Luke and Jon producing her album but I’m happy with this so far. Excited to hear the rest of the lyrics. “Wanted by the law but the law don’t apply to me” 💯 🤩

I'll wait till I've heard the full song, but..while the lyrics seem fine (to good), the production in that snippet was a mess

From Jon and Luke’s past production work especially Luke’s on songs I was expecting something completely different and more jarring, I guess would be the word, so I’m happy with this so far. Hoping I'll like the whole song.

Tbh, this is just kind of generic. Didn't grab me like anything from Wildcard.
