Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out: A classic for a reason. Infectious riff that's impossible to forget once you listen to it for the first time, and while it may be a simple song on the surface, the catchiness of the song is what makes it so special and hard to forget (9.2)
A newcomer to the game! I'm excited to see what you can bring to the competition!
Which means, I have to say sorry to these following people
Beyoncé feat. Jay Z - Crazy In Love: I'm not usually the biggest fan of this era Beyoncé, but there's just something so captivating about this track. Whether it be the flawless production with those horns giving it kind of a grandiose feeling, or the really f**king catchy melody all around the track, I don't think there's anyone who wouldn't get pumped while listening to this (9.2)
MoD gives you the same score as Criminal and TMO but unfortunately he *slightly* prefers those two...
The Killers - Somebody Told Me: This is a really good song. Simple, but it works, just like most of their stuff. Sadly for it, because it definetely is a quite solid track, there are several songs on this same album that I think are a level above it (8.7)
FKA Twigs - Pendulum: This type of glitchy stuff is always a hit or miss for me, and, don't get me wrong, I really liked this song, my rating will evidence that, but I have listened to better executions of the genre, there is something missing for me to truly love it (8.5)
Hatchie - Stay With Me: Clearly a great song, but while I do really enjoy it, I feel something about the delivery of it makes me not able to really connect with it, like maybe she was not the one meant to sing this (8.2)
1. someday: SOME DAY (viciously attacks desk) SOOOOMMEEEEEDAAAAAYYYYYY (bam bam bam bam bam)
One of the first timers I'm most excited to see. I can't wait to see how your diverse and unique taste will help you in this game! Welcome to the final cast!!
2. can i call you tonight?: aight whos been stalking my last.fm. im not complaining i just wanna talk. but on a serious level like a week ago i figured out that "hey this song is like really really pretty and i like it a lot" and like
You made it far last season on your first try. Now that you have the experience needed, are you gonna outperform yourself and get into the top 4 this season?
In the mean time, You can stop being a dick. I'm getting a little tired of your passive aggressive comments that have no place when what i'm asking is completely innocent.
3. the new workout plan: sorry chorus of baritones i do NOT like salad. this also might be my fav college dropout song lmfaooooo sorry virgin through the wirers and jesus walksers
Your journey was cut in the casting round last season and this time around you barely make it! Congratulations!

5. roads: if whoever sent glory box doesnt make it past i will resent max. sorry to whoever sent this though this isnt my favorite from dummy (but dont take that as the song being bad bc dummy goes... dummy. dummy hard. its good.) ill admit i hate being locked into this catch 22 of hating british people and loving trip hop. it truly is a struggle

FIREFLIES. fireflies Whitney Houston - "How Will I Know"
6. how will i know: idk whitney thats like. how will you know. perhaps you should ask them two door cinema club fellas. they probably know what you know and how you'll know.
---------------
SURF. surfy Lady Gaga feat. Colby O'Donis - "Just Dance"
7. just dance: i have no idea how this aged. the instrumental for the first 3 minuets is a godsend no matter what era. the instrumental for the bridge(?) is not. the entire bridge is dookie dogwater. colby odonis did not age well. i will rate this a solid aged-unaged-aged-unaged on the aging scale

1. Troy: Sinéad O’Connor seems to have had QUITE a controversial career…putting all of that aside, this song is just exceptional. I normally tend to skip over songs of this length unless they don’t feel like they are as long as they really are, or I’m able to get lost in the music. And that’s what happened here. I was utterly transfixed. This song was quite literally cinematic; I definitely would expect it (particularly the instrumentals) to be part of a film score. Sinéad’s emotion can be felt intensely; it’s laced in every word. I had to go back and listen to this one again because I couldn’t let go of it. I still have it in the background as I type this!!! Yet another newcomer we have in the cast! Welcome to the game and brace yourself because the real competition hasn't even started yet!
2. XS: I absolutely love Rina Sawayama’s debut album!!! I think there’s slightly better on the record, but this song is still quite a solid bop. It’s got a production that reminds me of some of the late 90s pop songs, particularly the songs of that time period by Britney Spears, who I can also hear in Rina’s vocal delivery…so that definitely doesn’t hurt your case! Some of the chorus can get a little repetitive, especially towards the end, but I’m honestly able to overlook that in this case. (9.1)
You again, huh. Jk. Is the third time gonna be the charm for you?!
3. A World Alone: I LOVE THE LORDE!!! My belief is strong; my convictions devout. There is better on this album, but on an album like Pure Heroine, that just means this song is great and not spectacular. It’s got that special Lorde lyricism that is so relatable and hard-hitting, but it does get to be quite repetitive. I do love the added effect of people talking as she’s saying that all the people are talking. I just really enjoy when artists/producers do little things like that; it shows an attention to detail and a dedication to make the song as perfect as can be, which means a lot as a listener (and in my case, a Lorde stan/Prettier Jesus junkie). (9.1)
Your time was cut so short in S2. Good to see you back!

The songs I’ve passed on were all really good as well! I’m not gonna spend the time to comment on them this go-around, but to all of y’all who sent these three songs: you did great, I’m sorry y’all had to have your fates put into my hands, and definitely try coming back next season!
Upsetting. But I won’t give up. My career was built on failures and not following the mold. I won’t stop. I never have and never will. I still believe in this album. And I still will push. No matter what.
