Olivia Rodrigo with ease. There's quite literally no contest. From the very start, this woman has come out SWINGING. Her debut single "drivers license" debuted at #1 on the Hot 100, and then later "deja vu" made her the first (and obviously, to date, only) artist in history to have their first two singles debut within the Top 10 of the Hot 100 (peaked at #3). "good 4 u" then made Sour the first debut album in history to spawn two Hot 100 #1 debuts. And now, by debuting at #9, "traitor" has become the fourth consecutive Top 10 hit of Olivia's career and made her the first artist in Hot 100 history to have four singles from their debut album debut in the Top 10. Olivia's debut album has DOMINATED the charts internationally as well. Here at home, Sour debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart and has gone back to that #1 spot three times so far, and spent a total of five weeks there, which remains the most for any female album in 2021. (It was also the first debut album since 2009 to spend four weeks at #1) Its opening week remains the largest for a female album in 2021 and is the second-largest for any album in 2021. Its first-week vinyl sales of 76k units is the second-largest sales week in modern history, only behind evermore by Taylor Swift. All 11 of the album's tracks simultaneously debuted within the Top 30 of the Hot 100, making Olivia the first female artist and only the fourth artist overall to achieve such a feat. Sour has also done very well internationally, debuting at the top of the album charts in several countries, including Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK. And then there's the matter of the accolades it's received, including the recent haul of three VMAs...did I mention this is her debut album? Olivia was already an established Disney star, but this album (which is only FOUR months old by the way!!! ) instantly launched her into superstar celebrity status, and she has dominated in quite literally every sense of the word. 2021 has been her year, literally from the very beginning of the year. Nobody else in 2021 is touching her in terms of success and impact.

"good 4 u" then made Sour the first debut album in history to spawn two Hot 100 #1s. You're talking about #1 debuts only? right?

Olivia Rodrigo, easily. While LNX may have drawn a lot of attention with Call Me By Your Name (especially with some of the stunts surrounding the song), Olivia is definitely not only the biggest breakout star of the year but the biggest star, period. She's a newcomer dominating in much the same way that Gaga did in 2009 or Adele in 2011-12.

Like them or not, BTS clearly deserves inclusion in the poll. Olivia wins though.

I'm going against the grain and say Lil Nas X, Olivia has had the better chart success but in just sheer impact and what artist dominated pop culture this year, Lil Nas X takes the cake, no contest. He has grabbed the publics attention in way I haven't seen since early Gaga.

Thanks for the stats, astonishing debut indeed. Is she really the only artist to have at least 4 top 10 singles from a debut album though? Or do you mean those that debuted at top ten?

i'm guessing Tay means debuts, since (just off the top of my head) Mariah also had four, and those all went to #1

Based on the options:
1. Olivia Rodrigo 2. Lil Nas X 3. Doja Cat 4. The Weeknd 5. Dua Lipa 6. Drake
If you take my Top 5 and add Bieber & Ariana, you have the biggest pop stars of this decade (so far).

i'm guessing Tay means debuts, since (just off the top of my head) Mariah also had four, and those all went to #1 Gaga too, with The Fame. 4 Top 10’s, but none are debuts. However, all 4 singles went #1 on CHR.

Yeah, I meant debuts. Should've clarified that...and that makes it all even more impressive!

Lil Nas X has done worse on the Hot 100 and just debuted with a little over a third of what Olivia did on the BB200. Olivia is clearly bigger right now.
