MJ has the two best-selling album's of all time with Thriller and Bad, both are highly regarded as some of the best albums of all time. However, the real question is which one is better? Which one has the best songs, which one has the best music videos, the best look, etc.

Thriller has some fantastic and unprecedented videos. He sent a clear signal to the future with that album.

Thriller! Definitely more consistent of the two.

Bad actually works better as an album. Thriller has always been a hodge podge collection of singles to me. That being said, the highlights from Thriller are stronger, so I went with that one.
Off The Wall and Dangerous are better than both of these IMO.

A lot of Bad has aged... well, badly (although there are a lot of highlights and bangers on the album). Thriller, on the other hand, is one bop after another (aside from the middle of the road The Girl Is Mine).

That’s a tough one, but while Bad has one of MJ‘s best songs on it with Liberian Girl, well, Speed Demon exists.

It’s funny to me that “Bad” is the one with 5 #1s, yet all the singles off “Thriller” aged better and still feel bigger today. I really think “Bad” suffers a bit from the formula that MJ and Quincy mastered on “Thriller.”
Man in the Mirror, Smooth Criminal and The Way You Make Me Feel are popular songs in the MJ universe, but I can certainly say they rank lower than Billie Jean, Thriller, Beat It, and Wanna Be Startin Somethin as far as what is regarded classic.

A lot of music from the second half of the 80s has aged quite poorly. Too overproduced, artificial and cluttered. Don't get me wrong, there were still a lot of bops released between '85 and '89, and the lows aren't that low (at least when compared with the 2000s and 2010s), but a good proportion of later 80s pop music is disposable and mediocre.

Thriller is a bit more well put together due to its length; but I prefer the "edgier" approach on Bad.

Unpopular opinion but c'mon: Bad has Man in the Mirror, Dirty Diana, I Just Can't Stop Loving You, and Smooth Criminal. It's the winner

Whoops, meant to put Smooth Criminal, although Man in the Mirror probably still beats everything on Thriller with the exception of Billie Jean

Thriller, but you can't deny Bad has some iconic timeless songs as well.

Up until around his death I probably would have said “Bad”. However for the last 11-13 years I think I may like “Thriller” better.

The most interesting part about Bad is that the most popular song from that record, and one of MJ's most popular songs period (currently his third most streamed song on Spotify behind Beat It and Billie Jean) is Smooth Criminal. Despite Bad having 5 number-one singles, Smooth Criminal wasn't one of them, it only reached #7.
Lowkey Smooth Criminal is MJ's best video, even above Thriller. The art direction and choreography is unmatched.
