They could've added 50 to the headliners. He did a great job with "In Da Club".

Everyone sounded really great, they played so many hits it was crazy. Everyone was turnin' up in the bar, white people, black people, shit was crazy to see. Eminem taking the knee was also great.

Definitely a fun performance if only just for the jams and throwbacks.
I hope in the end the only thing getting talked about isnβt the white man defying rules and getting praised for it.

I liked it (not a fan of "Lose Yourself" but I was okay with it in this context). It was the best sort of throwback to these classics. I nearly fainted when Mary started doing "No More Drama."

It was great for what it was!! When will we be able to see all thees legends together on one stage again? We'll probably see a couple together, but not all six. They all sounded great and they all delivered!!
But, I would much rather the halftime show be maxed at 2-3 performers, if they're going to keep doing this. They each had so many hits they could do that I wish I could've seen more of each (especially Eminem, personally). I don't think the production was bad, but I do think the Super Bowl halftime has accustomed the audience to a great production (Katy's entrance, Gaga's jump, Black Eyed Peas coming down from the sky, lights fireworks, etc.)

It was cool.. everyoneβs been saying best halftime ever.. nope, BeyoncΓ©, Bruno, Lady Gaga, Prince, MJ weβre all better..
Next year I wanna see other legends like Mariah, Celine and maybe the next generation Ariana and Adele.

They really did what they could with 6 people on stage. It felt short, but that was to be expected. I wish Eminem got at least one more song in. I'm confused at the questioning of Lose Yourself here - it's easily his biggest and most recognizable hit with the GP, why would he not do that? Especially in a stadium at the Super Bowl, like what? lol.
Mary doing No More Drama though was a serve! I would've expected Be Without You or even Just Fine in its place. The 50 surprise was a nice touch too.
Kendrick was good but he just felt out of place.

I enjoyed, a way better show than several of the past ones IMO. And given that a show this big can swallow performers whole, it's good they kept it pretty simple. Dre, 50 Cent and Snoop kept the vibes and anthems coming. Mary served her cathartic moment. Eminem served his most obvious stadium anthem (like seriously, who is questioning this song choice in this setting?) I enjoyed Kendrick's performance, but that song choice was the weaklink, especially in this setlist. Overall, thought it was fun, entertaining show.

Yeah, I enjoyed this much more than some of the past ones (Maroon 5, Weeknd) and thought it was great and on the same level as the Jennifer/Shakira and Gaga ones. Justins was....

Iβm not sure what other song Eminem could have done that would have felt somewhat on theme. Lose Yourself works in a setting like this. Itβs a self-hype song before a big deal competition. Should he have done something like Cleaning Out My Closet or something? His other signatures like The Real Slim Shady or Without Me are both about him specifically as a character and would have been more out of place.
Iβd say my only qualm with the show with that there wasnβt enough Kendrick - though understandable why not given the time allotted, but he also seemed out of place here. I think he can (and should) carry this show by myself at any point, but here he didnβt fit in with the 90s/2000s theme of the rest as well.
But yeah, I can see this being a format they go with in the future.

Mary J, 50, Kendrick, Dr. Dre, and Snoop did alright. I like the "Death Row" theme at the beginning and then 50 cent came out and the background dancers did their thing. I also like how good Mary looked and the fact that she sang No More Drama was unexpected. Kendrick Lamar did his thing as well. It was nice to see Mary, 50, Dre, Kendrick and Snoop perform. 4 legends with 1 legend in the making.

Also, all this talk of the best halftime shows, when Diana Ross should be included. The energy she brought to her show in 96' is unmatched. Her exit has yet to be topped!

Rewatched the show this morning. It was a smart decision to have Dr. Dre being the backbone of the entire setlist. I feel like if they want to recreate this magic, the next pick would be Pharrell/The Neptunes. A lot of great choices for co-headliners (Jay-Z, LL Cool J, Usher, Kelis, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke...) and can end with smash hit like "Happy".

And then a Max Martin one for 2024 π
Jk! I think going the old school/retro route can be smart but if they want to keep the massiveness that the Halftime Show is, theyβd need to make sure theyβre very selective about the headliners because it could easily venture into hasbeen territory.

I thought this was a decent halftime. I think they could have scaled it back a bit, so that maybe there was more time in the show. I think Kendrick could have been his own headliner in another show. I also think 50 could have been cut, so that Mary, Eminem, Snoop, or Dre could have had more time. I think everyone was on point with what they contributed. I donβt know how I feel about the set. It was kind of boring, but I guess it helped put more emphasis on the performers.

What the Superbowl needs to do is give Janet another chance. In 2024, I would like to see Janet do the Superbowl. It would make it the 20th year anniversary and they owe her another chance.

I thought it was low energy and like everyone was relying on nostalgia to propel the performance.

I mean, is it really racist to call Dr Dre a criminal? He beats women. The whole show was basically a celebration of a known abuser.

That comes down to the person who is delivering the message. And if the person really cares that heβs a criminal. I doubt heβd be saying anything if some legacy rock act (most were known for a love of statutory rape) weβre headlining.
Itβs not racist to call him a criminal, because he is. But be mindful of who itβs coming from and how/when itβs invoked.

They make excuses and ignore white people crimes and only make noise when its black. That double standard is the issue. ETA. Fat Ass Kelly Price said it.
