No. 29 debut on Billboard's Adult R&B chart, with 210 spins and 1.289 million audience (it ranks No. 15 based on audience). It had 28 adds per BDS.

Interesting “Hello” was a #1 and this is blowing up, but she hasn’t charted anything else on Billboard’s Adult R&B chart. Neither are particularly R&B in my opinion, but I can see how the vocals appeal to Adult R&B listeners. Also interesting that “Rolling In The Deep,” which I think is her most R&B leaning single, didn’t make the chart. I think I recall it charting on Mediabase, so if it did I guess it was in the 40s.

These spins could've gone to real R&B artists and songs you know.

1000 spine isn't taking up much space on the chart.

She nor her songs are R&B. I do not understand how 'fetch' keeps on happening.

1000 spine isn't taking up much space on the chart. On R&B radio? Yes it is. This format is mostly based on Gold and recurrent records like all the adult formats, so there's not a lot of room for new songs to begin with.

It’s not that her songs aren’t “R&B” it’s the audience that listens to R&B radio loves the song. I’d say this is more in tune with R&B audiences than “Hello” was even though that went all the way to #1. If Robin Thicke or John Legend sang this exact song no one would bat an eye. Older black women love Adele. It’s just what it is!

It’s just they were such big comebacks that they even crept over into R&B. One of those instances of “oh well this isn’t our usual forte, but this a moment we definitely want to contribute to”. R&B listeners were also listening to Hello/EOM outside of radio so why not? The other 25 singles obviously weren’t as big as Hello/EOM in their peaks (nor had R&B appeal) so there wasn’t a notable reason to warrant R&B play, and during 19-21 eras she was still being discovered and establishing herself so it makes sense that formats she wasn’t even marketed to were not going to just hop on her bandwagon yet.

Hello was just a such a HUGE song period that it crossed over. IMHO Easy On Me is WAY more R&B/Soul influenced especially the vocal arrangement and the production.
