Bad Habits? It’s currently still with a lead I don't think there's much room for growth with Bad Habits. It's been out for 4 months now and has peaked on radio. I'm not even sure if a new remix would move the needle with this song. Quite frankly, I think Ed's team messed up the promotion of Shivers. They should have moved on completely from BH when Shivers was released, and I think Shivers would have had a better chance at #1 on album release week. But who knows, there might be a Peaches on Ed's album. Bad Habits will be his highest charting song that week, that's for sure. I'm not sure about the #1, but it'll be top 3, Shivers might be top 5, and I guess his next single (probably Thinking Out Loud part 3) will debut in the top 15/20. I don't think this album will make a huge impact in the US, but it should be a much bigger success than his collab project.

So I just found out the Nuestra Canción that's climbing the charts is six years old and like the recent Spanish songs to go viral, isn't reggaeton but actually traditional acoustic Latin music. The things that go viral on TikTok are truly unpredictable. (Maybe there is a chance Natalia Lafourcade gets a hit)

So... Ed Sheeran could definitely take #1 next week with a little push.
I hope Adele drops single #2 with the album. Promo, a video, etc... EOM obviously did well but it's already so high on radio that there's not gonna be a lon run there.

EOM obviously did well but it's already so high on radio that there's not gonna be a lon run there. If Ed doesn't have any sales gimmicks, it'll be like a KMM situation where even with the album, it isn't enough to unseat either EOM or most likely STAY. STAY has the streaming lead by far and has monstrous airplay, EOM is still riding the hype and is rocketing up airplay. BH peaked a few days ago and it might be unseated from the #2 spot on radio by INDUSTRY BABY. And Ed Sheeran's never gotten album bombs - even during his peak with Divide. Expect a boost and a few deep cuts to debut but little else. But again, he could have sales gimmicks multiple versions, and vinyls to help it go to #1.

They have signed singles ready for the UK. I don't think he cares much about the US right now but we'll see. Adele's streaming is nearly down to reachable levels already and STAY is ancient by today's standards. But I do agree with you that he's never quite pulled an album bump like that so far.

Shivers has barely gotten any exposure yet, it's a safe radio jam, I think it'll end up having a good chart life (specifically on radio)

It has more upside and would see a huge boost, whereas BH has been iTunes discounted for 4 months now and is pretty much oversaturated.

It could be that she simply just waited too long and that her image has faded from the public consciousness and/or they have moved on from her. It's only her fourth album, but you cannot wait 4-6 years between albums and expect to have the same outcomes as someone who would have released 4 albums in a much shorter span. yeah, that's why she broke the daily and weekly Spotify records, was the most streamed artist and gained more than 20 million monthly listeners in the last 10 days on Spotify, "25" and "21" re-entered the top 10 in the UK and top 30 in the US. Also, if we look at the kworb's charts, she's the most consumed artist in the world right now (itunes, yt, spotify, apple), and all that because she released a new song. Never said Easy On Me isn't doing well or that there isn't any renewed interest sparked in her or her other songs and albums, however, speaking just for the U.S., her Spotify numbers have been declining fairly rapidly since that first record breaking day, and her final overall streaming number for this week, 53.9 million, while excellent for almost any artist, is a bit underwhelming for Adele, especially since multiple album tracks by Drake, as well as a couple other songs by newer up-and-coming artists this year managed to pull in higher numbers. It's still a bit too early to really determine how she'll do long-term, but there are signs this era could experience a significant decline from the lofty heights of 21 and 25. For sure, the level of success she is used to will certainly be put at serious risk if she waits till 2027 and 2033 for her next follow-ups.

^One thing to keep in mind about streaming for Easy on Me versus streaming for Hello is that video streaming for the former is now a smaller proportion of streaming due to it already reaching its peak in the US, the recent rules that only count views from official videos and Apple Music wasn't much of a factor when the latter was released. For Easy on Me, the proportion of first week streams that were YouTube views was 21% (based on the weekly US Music Video chart reported 11.2 million views), while those for Hello were 58% of the weekly streams. So, it isn't the song sales landscape that changed significantly since Hello was released.

I’ll be honest I don’t think hits are a priority for Adele anymore and especially not for this album cycle. She said in an interview recently (I think for Vogue but idk) that while 21 was a very personal album for her, it kinda became an album for everyone, while 30 is an album she wants to stay hers. I don’t think she’s too worried abt Easy On Me resonating in the same way a Hello or a Someone Like You did just because of where it came from. Obviously she’s promoting it so she’s gotta care a little bit but I doubt she’s gonna be scrambling if it “only” spends 5 weeks at #1 Even if this is true, I'd think her label would greatly beg to differ. Adele is the biggest album seller of our generation, so no, hits aren't the priority

Yeah, Ed almost effortlessly smashes with his singles and albums. His last album was a side project collaborations thing in which he himself didn't really do much outside of showing up for the music video shoots and it still was a hit. Bad Habits was one of the biggest hits of the year, the actual biggest international hit of the summer, and his album is sure to be huge when it releases and a massive tour that will make bank. I doubt he's desperate for a US #1 after all of that.
Edit: damn it I keep forgetting what my avatar is lol. I'm not an Ed stan I swear.

This has to be superior IMO. What a classic bonafide top 10 it still is. Shivers has a tinge of Bad Habits tempo in it and is a bit too poppy for me at the same time. Not much of a like for Shivers. But I see your point on the single of choice for push.

Some of you guys are forgetting that Adele's catalogue has been receiving a huge boost due to EOM release, even in the states. It is an indication that the GP is still interested in her, but maybe EOM failed to capture that magic that some of the new songs on 30 MAY have. The other thing is, Adele has not performed yet. Watching EOM live may add additional nuances to the song. So it's too early to say anything.
I mean, look at where When We Were Young is right now. It didn't strike a chord with the public when it was first released imo - strained SNL vocal, weak hook, feel forced.

It looks like they'll be pushing shivers. based on kworb.net/youtube/the most viewed video today was his attempt to make a 'youtube shorts' trend. I assume youtube has been spamming this to try to compete with tiktok.

As I mentioned before, I sense a Starting Over-like Hot 100 for You Should Probably Leave. If the song is performed at the CMAs, that's going to make that quite likely.

Gonna take a wild guess and say the longest running is Girls Like You Yes you guessed correctly, "Girls Like You" holds the overall record for most weeks at #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart spending a total of 36 nonconsecutive weeks at #1 in 2019 with the song first having hit the top position the previous year.
