I know it's not a big update but the +2 rise on Hot AC made me happy! Will it be eligible for callouts over there now? There isn't a spin or position threshold for callouts. A song just has to both a) be in the survey (we never know the full list of what they're surveying) and b) have 60% of the respondents be familiar with the song.

How did Toxic Pony make #1 on callouts? It didn't. At least not on Mediabase. When that tweet was posted here I asked about it and no one could come up with an answer for the source. Wouldn't surprise me if that account was bulls**tting for clout. This is why we shouldn't follow Twitter for chart info.

That twitter account also gives airs of 'doesn't exactly know what they're talking about' by the way it apparently uses AllAccess' spincrease list as proof songs 'were serviced to radio' just because they may have gotten a syndicated spin *one time* and got enough airplay to make the list.

I was reading the pop thread and yeahh pop radios are kinda stagnant at the moment, I wonder if that could help When I'm Gone. Industry Baby will go recurrent this Sunday, so unless Enemy by Imagine Dragon doesn't overtake it, #24 is on the lock. Speaking realistically and pessimistically looking at her previous singles I guess radio would start dropping it from next week now that the promo is over (Katy focusing on American Idol now) and now that streaming hasn't picked up either.

I think it'll end up crawling into the Top 20 because many songs above it are falling, it may even manage to reach #15. It depends on how fast radio is gonna continue rocking with it and how fast songs will fall to give it way for a better peak.

PLAYLIST.THIS.ON.SPOTIFY.NOW! This clearly has potential and they're promoting this everywhere else, surely playlisting this should be the easiest thing for them to do right now? This has done as well as any of us could expect so far. This will die in the next week or two otherwise

Is it me or does it feel like labels are doing less and less for artists that are not their Top priority? Sure, that's always been the case, and it makes sense why as a business it's the right move, but I feel like this has become more prevalent in the streaming era.

On the contrary, the label has done a lot for this track. Feels like it got more promo than most Smile singles. They just drastically dropped the ball on streaming promo.

But I’m sure the cost of the football halftime show would be equal or even MORE expensive than proper Spotify playlisting. I think it’s a case of the “let’s try these old strategies first”.
Teenage Dream “team” (not blaming Katy solely) was all over iTunes promo (main banners, discounts, etc), because that was the main factor of promo back in the day. Plus video snippets, lyric videos, etc. Everything was on point.
Now it seems they are trying these old strategies (video premieres on TV, SNL, radio station interviews, etc), and they work for the short term meaning one or two days, but there is no long term longevity with those. People forget about SNL, people forget about football halftime shows.
With streaming, it’s there for weeks in your face. I’m not sure who is in charge, but they are clueless and need to be fired.
