yeah. Heat Waves is #11 on my most played songs list, and I think I only listened to it once because it was on TTH and I didn't bother to change it.

Honestly I'm not sure, and though the songs have been on Spotify for years, obviously they aren't listened to equally all year-round, there's only a surge of listenership each Holiday season, so given that that surge is happening now and they are formulating playlists for this year (I'm assuming they formulate or at least alter the playlists slightly from year to year rather than keeping them the same), there might be some unique reason between the songs and the playlist creation that is causing the glitching specifically for this year, though I'm not exactly sure what that reason would be.

I haven't looked to see if it's lower on playlists than it used to be, which would be a punishment if it's happened (although it's more likely that labels have paid for higher placings for new holiday music they want promoted). More so I think some older holiday songs have benefitted from being on playlists that "AIWFCIY" is too new to be on (see 'Christmas Classics' that has over 2 million followers as an example). That certainly isn't a "punishment."

The reality is "AIWFCIY" is still the most streamed holiday song across all platforms, and this type of discussion is an example of what I mean about people placing too much importance on Spotify.
