It is time to launch the next Songwriters rankdown! This time we are celebrating Natalie Hemby's career! She has written many incredible songs over the years including such classics as "Pontoon" and "Tornado" for Little Big Town! "Downtown" by Lady A! "Butterflies" and "Rainbow" by Kacey Musgraves! Brothers Osborne's "I'm Not For Everyone", Carly Pearce's "It Won't Always Be Like This", "Redhead" from Caylee Hammack and Reba McEntire! Let's not forget the many songs that Miranda Lambert has recorded over the years: "Automatic", "Baggage Claim", "White Liar", "Fine Tune", and "Getaway Driver" to name a couple! Of course I need to end this with mentioning The Highwomen that she is a member of and their songs "Redesigning Women" and "Crowded Table" to name a couple. We have 50 songs to dive into that Natalie has had a hand in writing and/or performing! I plan to have this due at the end of January so that there is plenty of time to get this done. With the Year-End rankdowns coming if this proves to be too much to be due at that time I am open to extending this one out but for now that is the due date! This is due this coming Friday! Please get your list in as I do not want to extend this at all, will if people absolutely need me to though Did realize there were some songs missing from my list that likely would have made the final list if I had them in my list so I will spotlight those along with some others during reveals! Wow I completely forgot about this :'( I can give it to you by the end of the weekend tho. I can give you the weekend. Unfortunately I have to do some traveling for family on Monday so I will likely not be able to work on graphics or anything until Tuesday so I'll give until Monday night for anyone to get their list in.

I expect "White Liar" is probably the obvious contender to win this thing, but Carly is up to some real Queen s**t with "It Won't Always Be Like This", so she could pull off an upset!! Those are really the only two that I see having a shot as I glance through the list again. Oh yeah, and "Automatic" as well. Those are my predictions for the top 3, in a pretty close battle between the three of them, with "White Liar" taking it all.
Edit: You also can't count out Kacey for the top 5! I don't think "Rainbow" can win over the three I mentioned, but should still do very well. Idk about #5. Maybe Maren? "I Wish I Was" is one of my faves, but it'll be hard for an album track to win this unless it's almost universally beloved like "It Won't Always Be Like This".

I'd be inclined to agree but there was some rankdown where the Carly song flopped tho. I think it was one of your Best of the Best/Revenge of the 2nd Best sets or something and it like only barely made top 20 when I expected it as a top 5 lock. 🙃 At any rate, I hope it does much better here.

I agree that "White Liar" stands out amongst everything else as the most likely song to come out on top. As for the rest of the top 5, I think "Automatic," "Rainbow," and "It Won't Always Be Like This" will all make it in. Not sure what the final song will be vying for a position, but I could see "Tornado" being the one that rounds out the top 5. Outside of that, I expect the results to be a bit muddled and all over the place lol.
I'm not really sure what to expect for Natalie herself, but I think "New Madrid" will be her highest placing song which hopefully makes a top 20 showing at a minimum. And of the three songs showcased by The Highwomen, "Redesigning Women" is likely to perform the best and in the top 20.
In regards to the bottom 10, Kip Moore's "Love You to the Moon" stands out as one that might come in last. Other contenders probably include "L.A." (The Wilkinsons), "Heaven Is a Honky Tonk" (The Highwomen), "China and Wine" (Laura Bell Bundy), "Town Drunk" (Love and Theft), "Drinks After Work" (Toby Keith), and both "Looking For a Place to Shine" and "Buried Under" from Nashville.

I'd be inclined to agree but there was some rankdown where the Carly song flopped tho. Actually that was the Country Ladies in the '10s rankdown! I think I remember everyone was predicting that it would be a top 5 contender....only to see it peter out a few spots shy of the top 20.

some interesting predictions thus far. Any more predictions for what the Bottom 10 could look like? What male artist do you think will last the longest? Which group will be out first, last?
What are your predictions when it comes to Natalie Hemby's songs, including the Highwomen?

My guess for top 5: It Won't Always Be Like This, Redhead, Butterflies, White Liar, Automatic
My guess for bottom 5: Drinks After Work, Heaven Is A Honky Tonk, Timing Is Everything, Town Drunk, Love You To The Moon
Male lasting longest: Vince Gill in Don't Rush, Dierks Bentley
Her own songs: New Madrid highest. Tbh need more of her first album songs and less of her second album songs in this rankdown.

My predictions on the top 5: I Wish I Was, It Won't Always Be Like This, Rainbow. Not sure about the others, I guess White Liar since others guseed that one. I'd like to think something she sung herself might make it--Radio Silence or New Madrid, maybe. I think "I Wish I Was" will win.
Bottom 5: Baggage Claim, Timing Is Everything, Heroes, Drinks After Work, Heartache Medication.

I am probably in the minority but I like I'll Never Love Again more than Always Remember Us This Way.
