More changes in the chord progression would've really helped this song

Well fuck me. I expected Chicano Batman to get tanked to hell but not MMJ. Wordless Chorus is gorgeous and the ending is amazing. I think if Touch Me... was used they wouldve ended up a lot higher and still would've been my #1.

40 (FloriDada): Tbh I could understand why this was last place. It's a bit "out there" but I like how it sounds. Nice beat too. 39 (The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song): Honestly I still enjoyed this even if I ranked it bottom 10. There are some parts that really stick out to me and other parts I don't care for as much. 38 (Saturn 5): In another rankdown this probably wouldn't be my last place, that's how good this list was. I guess this didn't really leave much of an impression on me when I listened to this rankdown. 37 (La Breeze): this has some nice instrumentals throughout the song. I think at times the vocals sound like a bit much for me to enjoy it more but they aren't bad at all. 36 (Tropical Ice-Land) and 35 (No One Does It Like You): We love a perfect ranking 34 (Said the Shovel): Feels like something I would enjoy casually listening to. I don't know if there is a whole lot going on in the song that draws me to *really* want to seek it out but that doesn't make this bad in any way to me. 33 (Friendship): I think I've heard a couple of songs from them that I liked. I enjoyed this a decent amount. 32 (2080): Listening to the live performance that was linked, it's really good! I could definitely imagine this sounding great live. 31 (Wordless Chorus): In the appearances they've made in rankdowns I've done, MMJ haven't ended up this low on my list. Maybe I could've put this higher, but also I could really say that about a lot of songs here lol I did not expect to clear most of my bottom 10 already lol, definitely content with these reveals so far!

I didn't notice that music video before, and I feel that I should have ranked Mission Desire a bit higher.

30. TV On The Radio - Golden Age: I'm shocked too, lol I thought this had a chance at top 10 even. IIRC Dear Science was one of the last albums I found on my own before my music fandom kicked into high gear midway through 2010, and I've been on and off with my appreciation of the project as a whole. This is a pretty fun song but in terms of TVOTR I think they're best when they're moodier. 29. Love - The Daily Planet: Not sure this band will ever do well in a Pulse game at this point 28. Pinkshinyultrablast - The Cherry Pit: This was just on the edge of the songs I really liked on the list. Feels like a modernized Lush track. The instrumental performances are rather impressive. If there was anything holding the song back, maybe the vocals sound a little too cutesy 27. Jane Weaver - Mission Desire: looks like several of us thought about putting this top 20 but couldn't quite do it, heh. Neat singing and production effects here. 26. Broadcast - Pendulum: RIP Trish Keenan :( Song has a kind of spooky vibe and calls back to 60s/70s early electronic experimentation 25. The Dandy Warhols - Godless: Never been a big fan of this band so this song was way more intriguing than I expected. Just got lost in the crowd in terms of my rankings 24. Caribou - Melody Day: We're starting to see more of the songs that weren't first listens for me. Dan Snaith has such a large range as a musician, he can nail an electronic song or a more organic song like this just as well. 23. The Darkside - Guitar Voodoo: A song I wanted to rank higher, there are so many good guitar sounds on this track. It was missing the moment that would've taken it to new heights. 22. Temples - Shelter Song: A well put together song for sure, but I felt it was a little too derivative. 21. Beck - Chemtrails: Much of the reason I put this song top 20 was for the drumming; Joey Waronker absolutely slayed here.
"On The Level" is the only song in this top 20 that particularly stands out as not deserving to be here. It's far from one of my favorite Mac DeMarco songs. And I know they're The Beatles and all, but I'm actually surprised "It's All Too Much" is still alive. Didn't expect this group to be that into such an unassuming song from one of their least popular albums.
