I'm also pretty sure they also expected the Demi Lovato version of "Let It Go" to take off on the charts but the original version ended up becoming a huge hit while Demi's only reached #38.

I was specifically speaking about hopping on existing hits by other artists to get easy #1's. She has used the remix card herself once or twice, with Bad Blood (and to a lesser success, Lover). Bad Blood wasn't already a hit when they released the remix though; the remix was the only version pushed. I forgot about the rumoured Ed remix coming but I don't have high hopes for that tbh.

And as if no one has ever asked her to do so, especially when she was at her pop peak.

I agree. The further you go away from the top, the chart has felt very stagnant in the post-UGC era. Heck, even the top now feels more stagnant than ever with the domination of EOM and Stay. Maybe it’s time to add back UGC to the Hot 100 formula. This would lower the influence of radio, and thus, produce a faster moving chart outside of the Top 10.

You ask me, 2022 is starting off wrong with all of these lackluster hits such as ABCDEFU, Cold Heart, Super Gremlin, Broadway Girls, etc. There are some good songs like Easy on Me, I Hate U and Shivers to start with but overall, it's not good so far. Hopefully Better Days and Thats What I Want become hits.

^ I actually like most of these songs (Gremlin and Broadway aside), however there is no comparison with these hits to the 2020-2021 transitional period obviously.

UGC isn’t bad to implement on the charts, but doing so would enable songs all across from Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and especially Tik Tok to generate hits whether good or bad. It was taken away from the charts just in time before all these apps had implemented the shorts/reels format to them. Bringing it back either works well to what’s current and trending, or generates a whole load of trash, old songs and songs just made for a short term memory.

Ghost by bieber is going top 10 in like a month as I predicted months ago. Extremely stable on Spotify, nothing crazy but a grammys performance could push it close to 3m daily ww streams eventually
