I'm nervous. I really can't believe "Next Girl" is still in this thing. It's... not worthy. Miranda PLEASE!

I think it was pretty obvious for a while now that "Settling Down" would win cuz the closer we got to the top 5, literally every song had very audible detractors except for this song "Settling Down" is great and I'm very happy it took the win here. Miranda sounds great and the song is a jam. "Next Girl" on the other hand... Carly doesn't sound very good on this one and the song is pretty mediocre in terms of melody IMO. I like the instrumentation... that's about it. It's really not a good fit for Carly's voice especially in the chorus. Oh, and Miranda can still sing circles around Carly Anyway, thanks for hosting bboat11 and I'm glad you didn't have to rig the results this time! :kii:

Super weak year for radio hits was inevitable to lead to a weak winner. “Settling Down” is good, but far from the best from Miranda’s catalog. Same with “Next Girl” with Carly. Both of their songs in the top 2 last year are light years better than their offerings this year.
Thanks for hosting, ⛵️!

Lmao it wasn't even close. Thank GOD.
The slayage of Miranda! 🥳
"Next Girl" is a cute bop, but it isn't even one of Carly's best songs, let alone the 2nd best country song of last year...

Carly can always try again next year with Never Wanted To Be That Girl.

I do like "Settling Down," but it's not even as good as "Bluebird" or "If I Was a Cowboy," much less "Next Girl."

Carly can always try again next year with Never Wanted To Be That Girl. Honestly, that one deserves to win, and it would be pretty embarrassing if she didn't do better with that vastly superior song vs. the subpar "Next Girl."

There you have it! While Miranda was our biggest #1 contender, Carly had a real hot streak going near the end, and managed to keep Miranda in her sights for the entire rankdown. Carly managed to snatch the #1 near the end, and with our last handful of lists she held off Miranda by no more than a handful of points, and appeared ready to limp in to a narrow victory like that...........until austin and LBTrocks came along at the last possible moment and ranked her like 30-40 positions lower than anybody else felt she deserved to be There is no doubt that Miranda deserved to win though, as she hung onto the #1 for nearly the entire rankdown until Carly got brave in the final stretch! After tying for #1 last year with "Bluebird", she gets the pleasure of sharing the top with only herself this year! Imo this is the correct outcome. "Next Girl" is great, and definitely my preferred song of the two, but it's nowhere close to the status of "I Hope You're Happy Now". This one genuinely feels like it's only as high as it is because of Carly's name, while "Happy" actually had the love behind it to justify the fact that it was #1 for nearly the entire submission period last year. Thanks for submitting and following along everybody!!! I'm sorry to take so long to get things revealed this year, but I hope you have all had fun nonetheless!! You now will have until the end of March to get the 2010s Decade-End Rankdown completed if you want to join

I like "Settling Down" don't get me wrong, but man if that winning is not an indication that 2021 was a weak year for country music. Because while it's a good song, I have never thought it stood out that much. It's a really good song, just I feel like in a year like 2020, 2017 or 2012, it wouldn't stand out as much imo.
Still a great rankdown (even if I am bitter that I was so close to a fair amount of perfect ranks).

Great winner!! Miranda's Wildcard era was absolutely fantastic, and while Settling Down did not occur to me as the single when I gave it the first listen, it grew on me to love it. Thanks for hosting this super fun game bboat11!!

Just gonna point out that drunk was 1 week from making the 2021 hot 100 year-end, but billboard’s inconsistent recurrent rules cut it off early. Just a few weeks ago, it re-entered the hot 100 at 47, which wouldve allowed it to make it otherwise.
Anyway im very glad miranda won!! I love settling down and in a weak year for this genre it was definitely a highlight
Thanks bboat for hosting and doing a great job!!

“Settling Down” is an amazing winner! It’s so peaceful sounding which is interesting considering what the song is about. It kept growing on me as I listened to it more times and it never burned on me. Thanks for hosting bboat11 and I will stop procrastinating on the decade-end rankdown!

Next Girl is awful. She sounds horrible and she stole the hook from Carrie.
Her new single is fantastic.

thanks for hosting bboat11! I'll echo what I said before the final 2 was revealed, "Settling Down" and "Next Girl" being the top 2 for the year is really meh and honestly is disappointing. Don't get me wrong I love both songs (ranked them both in my top 20 afterall). Neither song feels like the defining hit of the year, "Drunk" fit that better honestly, or maybe even a dark horse like "Half Of My Hometown". Either way I love all the songs, it could be worse so cannot complain to much.
